@@ntdracing Me too! Is there any reason for the shift signal to go through a CAN Bus gateway or does it make the most sense to just wire it directly? I am guessing that the signal being sent to pin seven is just telling the TCU to shift up and down and that the TCU is telling the ECU what gear it is in through one of the other pins correct? Sorry - I am really new to this, figuring it out slowly...

About ready to tackle mine… I had a few questions. I bought a new 6l80 from GM. They actually have a set up for pin number 7 on the trans. I have two connectors, a two prong and a four prong. I was curious to see if I could get some help. I’m also a little confused the actual wiring from the shifter as to where they go. Im a bit new to this so sorry for my ignorance. Im sure your schematic explains it all but im still learning 😊

Anything funky with your swap? I’m buying a 1966 c30 that’s got the same combo (l96 / 6l90e). It randomly throws a p150A code but runs, sounds great and drives other than throwing that code. The guy who did the swap kept the stock harness, I’m wondering if I’m better off ordering a standalone harness from psi and starting from there.

This video is great! But I struggled with mine for two months, rewiring, reflashing, etc. Everything was right. I finally found a post by V8R on that same HPtuners thread. I needed to set U0121 and U0140 to do not report. These are codes looking for BCM and ABS module. This change allowed TUTD to work perfectly.

So in my 2010 Chevy Express 3500 with a 6.0L V8 and the MYD 6L90, obviously with the manual mode, it will let you redline it out until you up shift into the next gear but what I wish it would do is you can give it wide open throttle and it would NOT automatically downshift but instead hold whatever gear you're in and more importantly, if I wanted to upshift early like progressive shifting while still doing wide open throttle, letting it shift as early as it's able to but yet, still doing wide open throttle. The Chevy 4-cylinder models are able to do that very style of shifting & throttling like a 2011 Chevy Cruze or a 2011 Chevy Malibu. I like to shift early around 2 or 3,000 RPMs but I never liked to let off the accelerator pedal. So my question is, does what you're doing in this video make it so that you can keep it wide open throttle but shift early, so in a sense, lug it down while still giving it wide open throttle?

      ruclips.net/video/IMib3g-slkE/видео.html
^There^ is an example of a video I made myself on exactly how I shift these GM manual modes at least for the 4-cylinder. For the Chevy Express I do use manual mode but I literally let off the fuel pedal, let it shift in the next gear and then I get on it but hopefully not too much on it to the point where it wants to downshift.

Great video!! Im thinking of adding the same Sport shifter to my OBS Chevy baja bulld!
Could you possibly do a huge favor for me and tell me approximately how many inches the lever sits when in park and D /as far back as it goes?
This console we built has a limited opening for the shifter lever. It was originally built around a B&M stealth shifter in which the Lever basically stays in place, only ratcheting nack & forth about a half inch.
Im hoping the travel of this Lokar will fit within my constraints I have.

Just stumbled on to this great info. I didn’t know those trans could handle that kind of thrashing. What kind of upgrades were done to the trans to make it survive? I actually acquired one of these believe it’s a 90E but not sure how to identify the difference. Pulled from a perfectly driving vehicle.

    • @ntdracing

I think the trick is to keep them cool. We melted one down at Vegas to Reno. Hit 270 degrees. Since then we have quadrupled the size of our trans cooler.

    • @ntdracing

I will try to work on something. In the mean time you can think of it like this. 12V positive from your battery goes to all three switches on the shifter. I think I used the black wires for 12V in. The red wire on the main shifter becomes hot when you put the shifter into sport mode. This red wire goes to the 8.25k resistor. The tap switches are different. Black goes to 12V (your battery). Blue goes to either the 4.42 or the 1.5. After the resistors, all the wires come together and are pugged into pin 7. I sure hope this helps. If you have the wiring correct and you test it like I do in the video, make sure you follow the steps to get the HP tuner part right. Specifically the part when you figure out what gear the computer thinks it is in when you move the shifter to sport mode and activate the 8.25k resistor. Good Luck

@@ntdracing I feel like it's a message that would travel on the CANBUS line from TCM to ECM then to BCM. I only say that because a 6L80 doesnt have an obvious neutral safety switch like some other transmissions which have 2 wires for each reverse and P/N which are connected when you select those gears. P/N wires would complete the starter earth relay and reverse wires complete the reverse relay. I'm yet to dig into intercepting and inserting CAN messages but it doesn't seem hard with an Arduino Uno and MCP2515 CAN transceiver.
