    Great video. Can someone help me understand what the engine RPM drop is all about during the shift. What is causing it exactly?

    • @D2O2
      @D2O2 2 года назад

      It the result of the transmission up-shifting to a higher gear. If transmission output speed remains nearly constant as well as torque converter slip, then engine speed changes proportional to the change in gear ratio, hence a reduction in engine speed.

    • @siuautomotive
      @siuautomotive  2 года назад +1

      Yes, just like D said, it’s from the gear ratio change. Think of a bicycle. If you are in a lower gear, your legs will be spinning fast, when you upshift, the bike doesn’t immediately go faster, but your legs will be spinning slower.

      @@joshclark6101 Also got to look at the handoff between the off-going an on-coming clutch. That period where you see both the on-coming and off-going clutch pressure both go almost straight down and straight up while engine RPM steadily climbs is actually where both clutches are slipping in a perfect ratio to be imperceptible and unnoticeable. So the transmission is slipping a good amount unnoticed by the driver until its time for the engine RPM to change, this is noticed by the driver because its an artificial torque spike to the wheels because of the energy recovered from the inertia of the engine rotating assembly and flywheel. That's why you have "torque management" reduce engine torque through ignition timing because this artificial torque will fill in in its place. Supposedly dual clutch transmissions recover this rotational kinetic energy so they don't have torque management during the shift so you get an extra power boost to the wheels, not sure why the same can't be applied to planetary automatics.
      It's amazing the TCM can do this clutch handoff completely unnoticeable, if it applies to much pressure to both on-coming and off-going at the same time, then things break and blow up.

    Sonnax zip kit or transgo tow and pro? Your opinion on this, it’s a stock 2011 soccer mom suburban no towing just that big ole heavy thing hauling all our kids just wanna make it more reliable since it is torque converter shuddering. Also what torque converter would you recommend?

    • @siuautomotive

      Both kits are very good, but if it’s for a stock application, I would use the zip kit and tune the tcc clutch off in 1,2,and 3rd. I would also tune out dod. Precision of new Hampton makes a good billet cover torque converter. So does Florida torque converter.

    can we throw this kit in a 6L80e with a new converter just to keep a good trans working?
    I used TransGo shift kit on Jetta w new solenoids 1/23 and it works great and I didn't program it.

    • @Sean-ps8wg
      @Sean-ps8wg Год назад

      Yes, you could. Just make sure you pull the trans, because for this kit to work, you need to do everything in the kit. Of course you said you'd replace the TC, so you obviously are pulling it. Good luck!

    Where did you find a AWD 2nd GEN CTSV? I didn't know these existed? Also a lot of these PIDs don't exist for the T43 controller, I have found the torque signal PID to be missing from the truck TCMs. Not sure if this is just the HP tuners scanner not requesting and saying the right things to discover it or what.

    wheres the pump alignment tool and tightening the 2 alignment bolts first lololol -- i use this kit in every single 6l80/90 that i do. i also put sonnax 1234 piston and sonnax 456 piston kit. billet cover 6l90 converter in every single one too.. i only do the hptuners part on certain ones and we also tune lock up strategy.
