Rebuilt my 6L80e last year with all upgraded Sonnax parts and billet cover torque converter. Here a year later I start getting TC shudder in 6th gear while barely on the throttle. Felt like big rumble strips. THIS got rid of all the shudder, and it shifts so much better now!! THANK YOU!
@@southfork67 maybe the line pressure decreased just enough once all the new parts broke in and it was enough to allow the torque converter clutches to shudder. Whatever it was, this tune fixed it. I replaced the converter when I did the rebuild last year. It didn't start shuddering until recently so the TC clutch wear should have been minimal.
Question, when I change these setting will this have an affect on my WOT performance ? I want the truck to be reliable but I also like to go wide open throttle from time to time.
Hello bud !!! do you have any tips on tuning a toyota tundra 5.7...2007- 2013,,, base timing ( and Knock Correct Learn Value, KCLV )....transmission ...not much on tundra s out there...thanks alot,,, !!! nice info videos,,,very helpful !!!!
Just did this and and in the very beginning you changed stall management to 8,000. When I do that to mine it makes the truck barely move like it's slipping. What is the problem?
Does the TCC adapt work in fine tuning the apply rate of the TCC or does it monitor the TCC slip against the slip tables and increase the pressure accordingly?
I’m no expert… but I have found that lowering the slip error rpm values from from zero and all the way over to 400 have kept my TCC slip at zero or closest to it vs putting higher values there. TCC regulator gain also.
Put them to 0. Remember those tables are only for slip when the tcc is applied, which either way shouldnt apply until atleast 3rd gear but sometimes 4th is needed as the minimum gear to prevent surging, you just have to try different settings. everything I know from tuning is just from messing around online and then doing it to my car so listen to me at your own risk👍a good tool too for your shift speeds and tcc apply tables is bluecat trans tool, it should get you to the point of atleast being able to drive around smoothly
Doing DOD delete on 1500 Silverado adding a stage 2 cam and a circle D multi disc 3200 stall convertor will these same numbers work for me? Also adding a 6.2 manifold intake and throttle body with Airaid cold air intake. Please help as I would like to do the tunning myself.
2016 Tahoe with an L83 and 6spd automatic. Speed limiter is removed. During a WOT hwy pull the truck won’t go past 5th gear and hits a limiter in 5th gear around 3750rpm.. Is there another parameter that has to be tuned to get it to fully top out?
Thank you for this!! I've been using HP tuners since 2004ish erra on my 97 Grand Prix GTP. And used it to tune my various cars, including Camero, GTO, C6 Corvette, various cadi's, and now my C7 Vette and '22 Ford Explorer ST (Purchased new). But I've always been scared to touch the tranny. The Camero I changed the rear gear size in tune as I swapped in a different gear ratio, so that was fixed. But that was the most I've done. I'm going to play with my C7 8L90 :D
hi...i have a build cirdle D transmission 6l80...with single disk converter.... should i only use lock up in 6,,,,i do a lot of drag,,,, thanks for your great vid !!!!
You should be able to lock it up from 2nd onwards. Best thing to do it’s try if locked and unlocked. My car is faster when it’s locked. To be honest this video was absolutely terrible and no wonder there are so many 6l80e cooking the trans…
No, you can shut it off with a tune alone. Only thing is, its a matter of time until you have problems with the afm lifters. To run a proper dod delete with peace of mind, a non dod cam and lifters would be the way to go with the brain tooly dod orfice plug under the vlom. Texas speed is by far the best choice to source out the complete kit to delete the dod. Talk to Ryan or anyone over their, they all know what they're talking about.
I used HP tuners to tune my transmission on my 2014 Silverado a year ago, best thing I ever did, Truck drives so much better.
Been wanting to do mine. Did you use all the same settings from this video? TIA
@@tonycega no not all of them
Awesome
Can you share your tune and does your truck have new Cam?
@@rookiecheveywhat one didn’t you use? Or did you go by a different video
Thank you so much guys! Great information straight from the professionals. A solid refresher for us in the field, and great content to show customers.

How can a tune repair a failing torque converter?

Looking forward to tuning a 2014 and 2018 with this same setup. Thanks for the exact video we were looking for!
@HP Tuners Good video! Do these same things apply to an 02 Allison transmission?
It’s cool to see these tuning videos showing up!

I literally got hp tuners to do this a few weeks ago

I have the 8L90 , 2015 Sierra 4x4 6.2
Can I apply similar changes to that transmission?
Thanks

I can tell you from experience on 4 -5-6 shift firmness. It's cool to make them chirp into 5th and 6th. But after a while. I only left firm to 4th

I read my 2015 suburban, save file and when I hit Trans icon I only get General and manual tabs. Idk what I’m doing wrong
DO you have a video for 8L45 cadillac transmission? i upgrade it with a torque converter..
What about if you have a shift kit will these modifications still help out?
Yes just be cautious that some tune settings may be amplified from the shift kit.
Ok thank you
Thank you, very helpful. Would love to see something on tuning 6l80e with a high stall converter. (in my case 3500 stall circle D)
Hey Tony, as mentioned below, your first adjustment, 8k/8k rpm on stall management, leaves a non-moving vehicle. What's up with that?
Can you turn off the slip in a vehicle that has all wheel drive? Or is that a little bit different
8k on the stall is a no go. Every time I forget and adjust it I get a what did you do!
Where do I look up exactly what patterns A-B-C are? I don't see the tow/haul information.
Did you find it?
When i open the max line pressure tables it shows 290.1 psi across the board...
Have had a problem at times where pulling onto the highway the transmission will take forever to shift from 4th to 5th under light throttle
You can change your shift timing to bring the 4-5 gear change in sooner. Small changes at a time to what you like.
@@currybuiltperformance6206 thanks it wants to hang in 4th under light throttle for around 10 seconds at 3000 rpm drives me nuts
Good job HPT 😊
I just followed this video exactly. I know lost my speedo and the abs is coming on. Any thoughts?? It ran fine for about ten miles and then just quit
Have you had any luck with it
Does anyone know how to set up a second gear launch?
I think he wanted to increase the stall by +800 rpm. From 1500 to Around 2300ish. You can’t stall out at 8k

how did you get it to display psi on the pressure table? Mine shows kpa only
Click on the kpa and it will change values.
Do you go to a shop and can they tune it for you hows it work

You can set your lockup at different throttle positions. So no lockup at wot. But have commanded lockup under part throttle/ normal driving
You should be able to lock it up from 2nd onwards.

Why does torque stall management need to be changed
Did anyone copy these settings?
Wonderful

Am I required to drink Schlitz before I tune, too?
