Zombie Paradise honestly looks pretty fun, it's like a more adult-rated version of the Haunted Mansion. I think the weird Micky dentist scene isn't actually based on anything and was probably created for a different attraction all together before getting thrown into the Mecki ride to preserve it. The same probably applies to the random dioramas too.
One fun detail about "Tren del Terror" is that one of its entrance is located inside a near subway station, so just imagine getting in to ride a subway or just leaving the station and seeing a creepy medieval castle like entrance with a illuminated red letters spelling Train of Terror in Spanish. Also the cantina's name is possibly they didn't bother to check the place's actual name, this was museum is quite of a fountain of memes in Spain for it's quite poor quality Edit: I'm in Madrid and I decided to visit the museum and ride the train and I'd like to share some details of it, So i'm quite convinced that this ride must have been a more traditional haunted house dark ride because the entire queue is set in a dungeon with several people being tortured or executed and a giant demonic face sculpted in the walls. Then you arrive to the preshow (00:57) where a monk tells you that you must ride the train and face the terrors that await to save him from damnation (he has quite several sins behind his back) since he can't for being too old, another monk tries to dissuade you to keep going but of course you keep going. The boarding station has some additional animatronics too like some skeletons sitting in some benches or Frankenstein's monster tied to a chair. Then the ride begins, and I've noticed some small details that are not mentioned in the video, since unless you ride it it's very difficult to find these things. For example the spaceship section, the one with the xenomorph and the thing has, for some reason, a, quite hidden figure of Snoopy dressed as an astronaut, that definitely doesn't match the sci-fi horror tone of the scene. Also the ice cave where pennywise is there's also some corpses, and tombs and a yeti and a sabertooth tiger hidden in the shadows, Pennywise is the most recent addition to the ride, which existed before the IT movies, so I guess the yeti was at first the main figure before getting moved. Finally the exit is also star wars themed since it is the last scene in the ride I guess, they tried to keep the horror theme by only putting villains from the franchise there but since the epic star wars theme is also playing in the background the effect gets lost, there's also a normal looking wolf in there too since the exit looks like a forest. Additionally the museum does have a horror section that works as a Haunted House walkthrough that is definitely scarier than this dark ride.
German here. I am not sure about that Mickey dentist thing...but i know Mecki as a bunch of kids films from the 80s, stop motion if I remember correctly, about a hedgehog family and their daily life. He started as a comic figure and mascot of a paper called "Hörzu" (listen up) in the 50s. He had audiobooks too in the 70s. I don't know much about it as I was born in the 90s so it's not quite my time, my parents maybe could know more about it though...
My Oma had a Mecki book that I have kept all these years later. I’ve never been able to read it myself sadly, as I am not fluent enough in German to read a book, but there is always a childlike sense of awe I get when I open the book and look at the illustrations. They’re so well done and detailed on every page, I’m honestly thrilled to know anything about this joyful little hedgehog.

No joke, that Zombie Paradise song needs to be on Spirit Halloween's seasonal playlist. It's a bop and fits for the spooky vibes that the whole family can enjoy!
Hey, thanks for the shout-out! I'm really curious about the Mickey dentist thing, too. Based on the date, this was very early in his career. Mickey was pretty much an instant star, but Disney was not the merchandise machine it would become, so a lot of Mickey merch you see, especially foreign merch was most likely bootlegged. I'm also wondering who the duck and wolf are. Donald Duck was introduced in 1934 and the (Disney) Big Bad Wolf in 1933, so they might be some other European characters.
I think the Muppets' ride could've worked better if they'd used the characters from Sesame Street rather than the ones from The Muppet Show. After all, why would you entrust child's safety lessons on a bunch of characters who get thrown off of moving busses, or stand in close range of an exploding bomb? Or get eaten alive in some cases! Also, that Zombies of the Night song would make a great addition for a Halloween song playlist!
I believe the ride is mostly a look into the Chinese mythology instead of a story being told, but I could be wrong. You're not wrong though about it being bizarre..

Weirdly enough just the other day I inherited about 5-6 Mecki-related dolls. I don't have Mecki itself but I do have Micki (which I assume is Meckis wife), plus a few others (a mouse named Pieps, some fish without a tag, a goat named Snucki, and two cats). Weird timing!

If you’re looking for interesting dark rides, I’d highly recommend looking at the Mouse Mine train at my home park, Tweetsie Railroad, in Blowing Rock, NC. While maybe not quite a “dark ride”, aside from one scene, the ride is so wonderfully weird and campy, and many of us here in the Tarheel state have fond memories of riding it.
Never been here before but I just had to mention that when I was 8 and visiting family in Singapore, we were taken to a theme park featuring a ride depicting the 10 levels of hell that were actually pretty gruesome. Especially being that I was so young but there were scenes of sinners being boiled alive, sinners being smooshed in between 2 rotating cement circles that would grind and screw together slowly, people being hung upside down and slowly lowered into fire pits and pots of boiling oil and lava. Oh man there was so much more and my older siblings thought enough to take some pictures at the time but no idea where they went to now. I’d LOVE to see this again just to look back at how extreme they wanted kids to think of “hell” in order to keep them in line. No, this wasn’t any religious based park either. Very unique and creepy for small kids! So it’s an actual Hell Theme Park. Just googled it lmao.
Hey, I was late with commenting on the water rides video last week! I actually went into that Duinrell "waterpipe". I wrote that I can still remember the true feeling of "wth" when saw it. But when seeing how long the pipe actually was, it was far less intimidating. I rode it, and honestly, it isn't something you'll remember. If you've your eyes closed, you'll just experience something close to an elevator ride. You'll just be transported. There is no thrill or even much of anxiety. You dive and about 10 seconds later, you come back up another small pool. I do remember how I fear the funnel slide next to it way more, because of the chance that somebody might fall onto you after you fall into the water. Also, I don't remember any line or instructors with the water pipe. It was just me.
Have you seen the log flume at New Zealand’s ‘Rainbows End’? It’s not as odd as these but it doesn’t make any sense at all. These all seem like a bunch of 8 year olds got together and just said “wouldn’t it be cool if…” and nobody stops them.
oooooh i'd LOVE to see you cover the defunct stargate dark ride!!! i learned a little about it recently cause my fiance and i are having a stargate themed wedding!
2:47 That might actually be the from the 1990 horror/comdey movie Tremors but I'm not 100% sure. I just makes more sense to me considering that the props surrounding it are from very popular horror films
I'd nominate Bermuda Triangle, a dark water ride (log flume?) formerly at Seaworld here on the Gold Coast (Australia) - featuring alien abduction, weird projection stuff and the aliens are allegedly retrofitted Gremlins taken from Movie World lol. I rode it once as a child with my Dad and Grandad, and spent the entire time crouched under the seat, absolutely terrified (I don't know if there were seatbelts or what but I definitely wasn't in a safe spot whilst the vehicle was in motion lol)
I think that The Dark Knight dark ride at six flags great america is kinda strange because it's a dark ride combined with a wild mouse and it seems random

Dang, I was just in Tokyo a few days ago and was thinking of checking out Dome City, but the Thunder Dolphin coaster was closed that day, so I went to Yomiuri Land instead. There's a bunch of neat attractions there, too (including a pretty simple haunted house) but no singing zombies.

Also, I don't remember any line or instructors with the water pipe. It was just me.
The illusion ride is deeply missed at The state fair of Texas. It was my first ever dark ride.

They probably just couldn't afford anything but a random stock photo, and wanted something "dim" so they went with sunset/twilight.
As I can recall, those wallpapers were kinda popular in bedrooms and most likely cheap to get.
I think based on the overall movie theme, the prehistoric section is supposed to be about Spielberg with Jurassic Park and Jaws represented
Those look so cool. I wish I had ridden one of them.
No better day this video could have released on! Thanks for the entertainment during the 6-hour drive up to Cedar Point, Peter!
I love theme park history!
2:47 That might actually be the from the 1990 horror/comdey movie Tremors but I'm not 100% sure. I just makes more sense to me considering that the props surrounding it are from very popular horror films
The haunted hotel castle looks great
I'd nominate Bermuda Triangle, a dark water ride (log flume?) formerly at Seaworld here on the Gold Coast (Australia) - featuring alien abduction, weird projection stuff and the aliens are allegedly retrofitted Gremlins taken from Movie World lol.
I rode it once as a child with my Dad and Grandad, and spent the entire time crouched under the seat, absolutely terrified (I don't know if there were seatbelts or what but I definitely wasn't in a safe spot whilst the vehicle was in motion lol)
“Zombie Paradise” is actually pretty catchy!
I think that The Dark Knight dark ride at six flags great america is kinda strange because it's a dark ride combined with a wild mouse and it seems random
I wish that muppet ride was still operating
(likely at The Mall of America and that Miami mall that has Rainforest Cafe)
the clown in Mecki Express has the same design as the clown puppet used in the horror movie “Host”. I wonder what the design’s origins are.
Another banger, coming in hot! 🎉
Very nice.
Gotta love the flying under the copyright radar bizarre fever dream dark rides
This is a guess, but I’m thinking the Mickey dentist scene may have been a store window display from the 30s, repurposed for this ride.
Last week I was in the Ghostbuster 5D Darkride in Heide Park.
For some reason, there is a Stargate from the SG:1 Series in this ride.
I dont remember this beeing part of Ghostbusters, or was there a Ghostbusters Spin-off with Stargate, that i dont know about?
I was there last sunday and also wondered why a stargate was there 🤷🏻♀️😂
Omg!!! I thought the Muppet dark ride was a fever dream!!! I rode this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg!
This, is the "Honey Badger..." JK😅
Love your vids! Keep up the amazing work!🤙
Video idea: Best/Worst coaster seats
I dont know if you looked at these but 2 dark rides id love to see you feature are from Rye's Playland Amusement Park in Rye, NY. the Zombie Castle and Flying Witch have been staples for generations.
Hey Peter!! Love your videos 😊❤!!!
Keep up the good work!!❤❤
I see you really liked my Tren del Terror suggestion on your previous video ;-)
i used to be terrified of the morbid manor in ocean city, maryland
The Nemisis reborn from Alton towers is terrifying.
For a future dark ride video. Abu Dhabi History Museum and Aquarium has a suspended dark ride that takes you through the history of the country, UAE, and ends in an aquarium. Cost is minimal, @$2 for entry. Located in Khalifa park.
Thank you for the shout out theme park crazy 😊😊😊
The faces of the characters on zombie paradise are really terrifying
Ngl, "Zombie Paradise" actually kinda slaps 🤣
Dang, I was just in Tokyo a few days ago and was thinking of checking out Dome City, but the Thunder Dolphin coaster was closed that day, so I went to Yomiuri Land instead. There's a bunch of neat attractions there, too (including a pretty simple haunted house) but no singing zombies.
