This video shows me that I was right in thinking that Hollywood tour was the scariest attraction I have ever been on. I am still kinda sad it is closed, it was such a classic ride. I would surely go there again!
A video like this really makes you appreciate how much Carpetbagger contributes to the RUclips theme park community. Many of these rides wouldn’t have good video if it weren’t for him.
As the harry potter ride is a constantly loading one when a less abled person wants to board they have to stop it, i was once on it and got stopped right in front of the giant spider for about 10 minutes. Arachnophobia and claustrophobia did not help then 🤣.
yeah it's that way for a lot of rides.. the efteling one does it too i believe as the step in is this circular platform that keeps spinning. so if someone in let's say a wheelchair wants to ride it they have to stop it because it could be dangerous to not do so.. there is also the clown one that i believe also does a similar thing since it's all just one giant track though the fairy dream also has a similar concept there are places to the ride where it cannot really easily stop as it's kind of a downwards slide. i remember as a kid it stopping right beneath the djinn and joking to my mum that i hoped he wouldn't fart
The phantom manor actually traumatised me as a kid, I was glued to my mom's arm throughout the whole ride! The architecture and aesthetic is gorgeous, the story is unique and gives the ride experience more meaning, and it just fits the land it's in so well despite its less cheery tone. And now I only cry a little while I ride it
Disney: Avengers Endgame is the most ambitious crossover ever! Theme Park Crazy, The Carpetbagger, Fastpass Facts, & Jonah Scott: Hold our cotton candy.
Seeing CarpetBagger in this was AWESOME! He is kinda off to the side of parks Tube since he doesn’t focus on it but he’s one of my favorite travel/parks RUclipsrs and I love when he’s involved in stuff.
I am SO glad to see Monster Mansion get acknowledged in a video like this! As a native Georgian I’ve been on it countless times but it’s rare for me to see people talk about it despite how high quality it is.
Not going to lie, Harry Potter forbidden journey terrified me the first time I went in it. I didn’t know it had animatronics since most of universal is all projections and screens. The dragon caught me off guard and I never recovered.
My mom told me it was just a calming ride where you fly on your broomstick, she later claimed they must have changed it because she didn't remember it being so intense
I had no idea either, and being that close to the animatronics scared the life outta me, especially the skeleton-looking dementors. Made me terrified to go on Gringotts, but fortunately that one WAS projections and one of my absolute favorite rides now
as a dutchie who regularly visits the efteling, i’m scared every time while riding fata morgana. despite knowing the whole ride by heart im still terrified of some scenes
Wow I did NOT expect Fata Morgana to be number 1. As a Dutchman myself, I absolutely love the Efteling, and Fata Morgana is pretty much always the first ride I go on since it's close to the entrance. Nice to see it get some representation!
Oh my God I just now realized Jonah Scott is the voice of Legoshi! (Aka the big sad wolf) I can't believe I never made that connection before that's awesome!
Having the Hollywood Tour in here brings back so many memories. My sister and I always dared each other to go on this thing alone, whenever we went to the park. It was always terrifying, but also a fun time.
For years this was a must-do when I visited Phantasialand with my siblings. We always said, we go there everytime we visit the park till this attraction will shut down. Sadly, this tradition has ended xD
Fun fact: Hollywood Tour originally had a scene based on The Birds when it first opened, which is where the Wizard of Oz scene was for the rest of the rides history, which is why that scene looks so poorly made
Mr. Toads Wild Ride! The ride was so claustrophobic with all those non-stop pull away pieces and enclosed room segments. You always felt a hairsbreadth away from a crash and were not quite sure where the path was going as walls separated to your side as you rammed towards what looked like an escape door like the ones you just went through, throwing you into a new dizzying direction. I LOVED THAT RIDE! This was the one that gave me my love of dark rides, especially ones that "went wrong"
Mag ook wel een keer ook al vind ik nr.1 voor fata morgana wel hoog ik vind zelf die trol in het zompen woud enger dan fata omdat die mij vaak laat schrikken
I'll never forget how much the Harry Potter ride scared the hell out of me. I closed my eyes at the start of the spider scene, thinking it wouldn't last long, but when I opened my eyes, it was right when Aragog pops out. I screamed so loud that my throat hurt for a bit after. I'm a huge arachnophobe, so, yeah, not a fan of that scene. XD I'm also very happy to see Knoebel's Haunted Mansion on this list! Knoebels was my childhood amusement park, and I rode their haunted house so many times. I love that Knoebels is getting some much needed recognition!
Don’t get me wrong. The Djinn in Fata Morgana (Efteling) terrified me as a kid. But overall, I think it is way tamer compared to the original Snow White or some of the horror dark rides mentioned in the video. I’m still happy that Efteling got mentioned though, since the park deserves all the praise it gets
When I went to the Efteling with my family, I loved the way my three-year-old cousin responded at the Fata Morgana. She absolutely loved it just like me when I was a little girl.
I rode the Mummy ride three times in a row when I went to Universal but, having hearing as bad as mine, I didn't hear any of the dialogue and therefore didn't get the back story of the ride lol. I just thought it was a fun roller coaster.
I remember going on the first one when I was younger, I scarred me for life, especially the scene with the train crash, in fact, that’s all I remember about the ride.
I loved the fnaf references, plus I have some not so clear memories of the dark rides at oaks park and Santa Cruz beach boardwalk from my childhood, then the Disneyland ones are more clear.
After a year I still find it funny that Fata Morgana was the scariest ride on this list. Yes, I’ve been scared of it for the first 12 years of my life, but I’m afraid of almost everything, so I don’t think that justifies it. Though I’m generally not scared of dark rides anymore, (except for if they have a drop) a lot of rides on this list seem way worse.
Also the ghost things are really big and just jump out of places. They also look and move really weird. I was surprised how scary it was and it was really cool
Finally, SOMEONE talks about Disney's dinosaur ride. I was an avid fan of dinosaurs until the age of eight - when I saw that T-Rex chowing down that dinosaur. I slowly wrapped my arms around my dad's and watched in horror. When asked if I remembered, I remembered alright - down to the detail. I never got that image out of my head.
Note on the Snow White ride: in the 80's the ride featured the first Wicked Queen offering an apple to passer-by guests. Only problem was the guests would snatch the apple out of the Queen's hand! The animatron was soon modified to lift her cape instead.
My sister and I once got temporarily stopped on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Only for about a minute, so no evacuation or anything. Guess which scene we got stuck in? That was terrifying, lol but we got a good laugh out of it.
Just came back from universal trip and the Forbidden Journey ride is no joke. My 7 year old daughter did all the rides there multiple times and I give her a ton of credit for it.
Thank you for including the Pleasure Beach’s Haunted house, it is a very charming ride but does give you the creeps in certain areas of the ride, and that’s not due to the animatronics.
Fun fact: I live in Portland and Oaks park as a whole is sooooo spooky. It has some of the best Halloween haunted house attractions but it’s home to many paranormal legends.
Same. I think I was 5 years old when I tried to go on it for the first time. When we turned the corner in the queue and you see the dungeon, I turned around and dragged my mom back out to Fantasyland. Now I love going to Haunts and still wish Universal Hollywood kept The Walking Dead walk-through year round.
I remember Dinosaur. My dad decided to take 12 year old me, my 6 year old brother and my jumpy mom on that ride. I had my eyes shut for almost the whole thing, my brother was audibly crying and even mom screamed at one point. Long story short, after the ride, dad was laughing his ass off and mom looked like she was gonna strangle him.
As soon as I started watching I said to myself “it would be funny if monster mansion was on this list.” I busted out laughing when I saw that it was bc it’s truly one of the most disturbing dark rides I’ve been on hahaha
I’ll never forget going to knobles as a kid almost 15 years ago now, and my uncle taking me on this at 7. That haunted house was the most traumatizing moment and I remember running off crying to my mom 😭😭
I honestly don't know how Fata Morgana ended up at #1 for scariest dark rides when there's so many haunted houses and dinosaur catastrophes on this list. I'm a born and raised Dutchie, and I've visited the Efteling quite a few times in my life by now. Fata Morgana is definitely amongst my favorite rides in the park (probably only beaten out by Droomvlucht), and while it's creepy and somewhat unsettling, I'm not sure if I would call it actually scary... although now that I think of it, it did make my younger sister cry when we were both still very young, and even I would look away from certain scenes where animatronics are being tortured... so maybe it really is lot scarier than I realize... Still, a #1 spot? Honored, but I'm not entirely sure about that.
16:43 I never thought I'd see my home park in one of these videos but BIG agree on Lewis and Clark's Big Adventure!!! I went to Oaks Park every summer as a kid and for some reason I rode this every year, even though it scared the crap out of me every time. (Probably because the line was never very long.) I looked up the video you guys cited and it is SO much more unsettling with the audio, I actually got goosebumps listening to those tinny speakers and the buzzing of the machinery again 😂 Haven't been in years, but I'm pretty sure the space where that ride stood is now either a cheap arcade or just a stage for shows and events and whatnot.
I appreciate these videos so much because I can’t handle most rides and mostly avoid them even though I have a interest in them (mostly animatronics). Channels like this can also help me find rides I may be able to handle
I love that you featured Knobles! I used to go there as a kid with my family, and that haunted house scared me to the point that I wouldn't get out of the car afterwards, I was crying so hard my uncle had to carry me!
OH MY GOD, I live in santa cruz and you are my FAVORITE person to go to for animatronics, mainly because you're the only one who lightens things up with a good joke and you have a comforting voice for me, but it's so cool that you mentioned the haunted castle! That was my favorite ride as a kid!
I'm sad to not see two great dark rides from the same park. Lagoon in Utah has both the Terroride and Dracula's Castle. Classics that I loved as a kid and I'm over 50 years old, and they're still popular today.
oh man, me and my wimpiness REFUSED to go on those rides when i was younger haha! until a trip to lagoon i took in 9th grade where i finally tried dracula’s castle and, despite being older, still was terrified LMAOOO😂 the terror ride will most likely never be ridden by me😬
i was scrolling through the comments trying to guess if either of these were in here! i’m a native utahn but have only been to lagoon three times (I’m 21- my parents preferred to save up for a couple years and take us to disneyland instead when i was growing up). my most recent lagoon trip was just last month, and i went on both of these for the first time! if i’m being completely honest, the campiness and the…cheapness (i guess?) of them just made them so much more creepy. spooked me bad enough i refused to go on them again when my best friend and i had hit everything and were trying to decide what to double down on.
I remember Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, that was awesome! Orlando Florida's Disneyworld's version of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was scary, especially at the train part!
OMG, it was a dark ride! This video made me realize that a Six Flags Over Georgia ride caused me nightmares for years as a kid!!! I didn't even remember that it was a ride until seeing this! That southern bell monster on the staircase! She and the stuff after her haunted me for years! This is all making so much sense now!
Phantasialand is one of my favorite parks and i can attest. As a child i was terrified of the Hollywood Tour. But honestly it's kinda funny as you get older. It's so bad it's iconic kinda? But it's one of those rides that were kept open while other more amazing stuff was built and will probably be renovated now as the other new stuff is finished :) I'm excited but also a little teeny tiny bit sad to see it go
I was so scared of King Kong and the Spider as a child, my mother fondly recalls how much I cried and screamed. Took me a few years to try it again and I just remember the smell
No. 4 “Countdown to Extinction”: The narrater left out an important scary angle, you’re sent back in time just before the meteor that destroyed all the dinosaurs (and you with it!). You get zapped back to the present just in time.
The original incarnation of Snow White's Scary Adventures really was terrifying. From the witch's piercing eyes to the jump scares it had me cowering as a small child. Such a good ride. We need more rides that evoke a healthy sense of fear. I imagine Karens ruined the ride instead of taking the opportunity to teach their kids a lesson on being brave.
I miss the Lewis and Clark ride at Oaks Park. It was one of my favorites growing up. It closed just after the summer season in 2013, and it was knocked down. There is now an open-air arcade in its place.
The fire during the mummy ride was the best. It cast over the ceiling and just sweltering heat just filling the room. Fear. Also the dementor fabric on the animatronic touched my leg and I almost perished. Edit: I like to imagine the people who see the dummy Jurassic ride and getting pancakes after like..that was odd
I am absolutely terrified when I’m in Fata Morgana. The Efteling is literally my childhood so it’s funny to see it in this list. But, the dark ride called “Vogelrok” really terrifies me. I have severe submechanofobia and those birds still scare me to this day. And I’m almost 18😂😂
@@jarmoliebrand2005 yes, there is a huge snags head in Vogelrok and you go trough the mouth. There are also snakes in the begin of Fatma Morgana, in the jungle scène.
Went to Disneyland in 100 degree weather. We knew it was bad when outside it was LITERALLY HOTTER THAN HELL (the hell in Mr. Toads Wild Ride of course)
To me entry 19 and 3 are the scariest something about decaying animatroinics that are supposed to be cherry are really unerving and gives me a real feeling of danger.
I've been on 3, and it's TERRIFYING. I live pretty close to Pigeon Forge, and Jurassic Jungle Boat Ride is one of the scariest things I've ever experienced.
The mummy was one of my favorite all time rides. I went in around 2006 with my friend who had vip passes. Got in trouble for trying to record it. We rode it so many times and then ran into dwane wade who was pretty laid back until he started getting recognized
Awww...loved Mr. Toad's ride to hell. That part was hot as hell though, pun intended. Freaking humid heat we're just not that used to in Southern Cali but my friends and I got a kick out of that ride. I always thought there should be a ride, if there isn't, based on Stephen King novels like Pet Sematary, It, Misery, etc.
OMG!!! Those references to Knobels' Groves & Amusement Park brought back a flood of happy memories!! I've ridden the Haunted Mansion ride many times - not the Black Diamond, which was opened after I left the area. Knobels' is an excellent amusement park, & has the Phoenix - one of the best wooden roller coasters I've ever ridden, Speaking of Centralia, I can remember driving through what was left of the town, up over the mountain where you could see rising clouds of smoke, cracks in the pavement & smell the sulfur. All the foliage was dead, of course. Nowadays, PA Rt. 61 detours around the mountain as the original road is deteriorated almost completely due to the mine fire. Anyway, thanks for the smiles! ❤
As a person who casually visits efteling find it weird that fata morgana is on top. Bc its a great dark ride maybe onw of the best but it really isnt scary. That inly thing is the djinn that thing gave me nightmares as a kid but i dont find the rest scary. I find it weird that its on top
I feel like riding Dinasaur when I was little prepped me to not be terrified of any other dark rides lol. I came out of that one bawling but I then get older and am asurprised people found The Mummy or The Harry Potter ride to be scary as I absolutely love them and found them more thrilling than scary. I guess my chid self was numbed to the fear lol
i remember going on the harry potter forbidden journey over and over when it first opened. my friend and i would skip the line and saw it stopped while we were on so we could go again without waiting LOL, it did stop a lot when it opened but i remember closing my eyes during the tree sequence because i was terrified. really an amazing ride
As a Pennsylvanian who lives relatively close to Knoebels, I cannot stress enough just how terrifying its two dark rides were for me lmao. I remember the Black Diamond didn't spook me quite as much but it still had some moments like the creepy looking miners and the loud noises of the donkey early on that got me a bit, it also came into the park quite a bit later in my life. I wanna say around when I was in my earlier teens (I'm 23 atm so yeh) but they've always had the Knoebels Haunted Mansion that legitimately made me cry when I went on it once as a younger kid lmao. Nowadays I love it. Huge props for including them both on the list.
Tbh Lagoon has Terroride and that ones pretty scary! Dracula’s castle is cool but not as scary, but it’s cool they even have more than 1 dark ride in the same park! Pretty scary in my opinion!
And you can hold pretty good conversations with the random workers chilling where the guy is hanging from the ceiling. The one time I went in it there was a guy sleeping right at that spot and we scared him awake.
Was pleasantly surprised to see Trimper’s from Ocean City! That was my entire childhood, every year I’ve went there I got on that ride, and I’ll continue doing so in the future. Still remember me in a stroller staring at the vampire animatronic out front in terror (when he was still moving and functional - now he just kinda sits there, mostly motionless.)
Oh, and now it has real live actors in costume popping up around corners which I did not expect when I rode it alone this year. And it changes every year I’ve gone, so it stays fresh!
No 2, Phantasy what?! It's pronounced "fantazia-land!" 🙈😂. I apologise for laughing, but you made me giggle lol. I performed in the ice show there for a year (the 1st year they had an ice show). Great place to work/live 😁🏴⛸
I'm glad to see Knobles Haunted Mansion on here, and that its still running! I have a lot of memories there as a Kid. The Train horn ALWAYS Got me every time!
I'm constantly amazed how the two random ass rides at pidgeon forge and gatlinburg TN keep getting so high! I've rode both a bunch over the years (visted both towns 21 times, and rode the dino one at least 10 and the earthquake 5) and litterly rode the earthquake a few days ago. Definitely scary! but the older you get the less so lol.

And now I only cry a little while I ride it
Disney: Avengers Endgame is the most ambitious crossover ever!
Theme Park Crazy, The Carpetbagger, Fastpass Facts, & Jonah Scott: Hold our cotton candy.
“Things go from Sesame Street to the dark crystal” got me pretty good
Seeing CarpetBagger in this was AWESOME!
The only scary part abt it is the loud noise at the end
Not going to lie, Harry Potter forbidden journey terrified me the first time I went in it. I didn’t know it had animatronics since most of universal is all projections and screens. The dragon caught me off guard and I never recovered.
I literally asked the universal employee if it has spiders in it and they lied.

There are many ways to shit your pants growing up, but one of the most underrated is dark rides and the horrors that lie within.
Fata Morgana at Efteling is so good and amazing. Also the music is very good! If you like dark rides, you have to do this one.
All the darkrides in the Efteling for thad matter

I was scared of the dementor part😭✋
The most unexpected collab but still works.
Having recently been to Pigeon Forge and rode the dinosaur ride, I can happy say the animatronics are updated and it’s pretty cool!
Oh, they actually fixed the animatronics? Been a while since I've rode the ride, I rode it when I was, like, 12, so it's been almost ten years.
I used to live over there. Never did ride it.
When I went to the Efteling with my family, I loved the way my three-year-old cousin responded at the Fata Morgana. She absolutely loved it just like me when I was a little girl.
Fata Morgana is ageless.
Oh the Mummy ride in Florida is by far THE BEST dark ride ever! I rode it 9 times in a row! I love it so much!
I rode the Mummy ride three times in a row when I went to Universal but, having hearing as bad as mine, I didn't hear any of the dialogue and therefore didn't get the back story of the ride lol. I just thought it was a fun roller coaster.
Thanks for including our POV in the video you guys! Loved this!
Besides Curse of Darkastle (RIP), I’d say Forbidden Journey is scariest because you get so close to the spiders and Dementors.
Also the ghost things are really big and just jump out of places. They also look and move really weird. I was surprised how scary it was and it was really cool
@@njdotson Dementors???
I miss Darkastle so badly. That was my favorite ride at Busch gardens
Gave me chills and made me wonder: WHY ARE WE IN THE FORSET
Finally, SOMEONE talks about Disney's dinosaur ride. I was an avid fan of dinosaurs until the age of eight - when I saw that T-Rex chowing down that dinosaur. I slowly wrapped my arms around my dad's and watched in horror. When asked if I remembered, I remembered alright - down to the detail. I never got that image out of my head.
Definitely never expected to hear Jonah Scott narrating dark rides❤️
Note on the Snow White ride: in the 80's the ride featured the first Wicked Queen offering an apple to passer-by guests. Only problem was the guests would snatch the apple out of the Queen's hand! The animatron was soon modified to lift her cape instead.
Wow! I was absolutely not expecting to see the Black Diamond on this list. Love when a Knoebels attraction gets featured - my favorite amusement park!
But Why Did They Didn't Put The Haunted Mansion from Knoebel's?
@@jaggerguth4391 I included the Haunted Mansion later in the video.
@@ThemeParkCrazy Sorry, I Didn't Watch The Whole When I First Type this Comment.
Fun fact: mr toad and Alice in wonderland share the same show building
and They are Both Utterly Insane.
Fun fact: I live in Portland and Oaks park as a whole is sooooo spooky. It has some of the best Halloween haunted house attractions but it’s home to many paranormal legends.
The now defunct Snow White's Scary Adventure at Disneyland was the scariest dark ride I went on, Imo.
Now they supposedly updated it with a lighter tone with the happily ever after ending.
Same. I think I was 5 years old when I tried to go on it for the first time. When we turned the corner in the queue and you see the dungeon, I turned around and dragged my mom back out to Fantasyland. Now I love going to Haunts and still wish Universal Hollywood kept The Walking Dead walk-through year round.
that DIsney Land Paris one looks amazing. the animatronics look like they're actual people
I remember Dinosaur. My dad decided to take 12 year old me, my 6 year old brother and my jumpy mom on that ride. I had my eyes shut for almost the whole thing, my brother was audibly crying and even mom screamed at one point.
Long story short, after the ride, dad was laughing his ass off and mom looked like she was gonna strangle him.
the way i froze when I heard Jonah Scott, didn’t expect one of my favorite voice actors to be here
The voices go as in order!
1. Theme Park Crazy
2. Fastpass Facts
3. The Carpetbagger
4. Jonah Scott
That pinnochio ride scared the absolute shit out of me when I was a kid
Carpetbagger, Fastpass Facts AND Jonah Scott?
Unexpected crossover but I am HERE for it
I once was early and lucky enough to be entirely alone in Fata Morgana, it was a terrifying but very fun experience.
Great video man! Knoebels haunted mansion is my favorite dark ride of all time!
I go there once a year and I’m so glad it’s been noticed
OH MY GOD, I live in santa cruz and you are my FAVORITE person to go to for animatronics, mainly because you're the only one who lightens things up with a good joke and you have a comforting voice for me, but it's so cool that you mentioned the haunted castle! That was my favorite ride as a kid!
I always loved Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. It’s usually the perfect ride for a winter day.
I'm 32 and I still can't go on Terroride haha! I got dragged on it as a kid and there's so much trauma there. Dracula's Castle is easier!
I was pleasantly surprised to see trimper's Haunted House on this list. And major points for actually pronouncing Knoebels right!
I remember Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, that was awesome! Orlando Florida's Disneyworld's version of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was scary, especially at the train part!
Valhalla is pretty terrifying, especially when all the fire works. Also blackpools ghost train is considered the very first one!
The logs crashing above your head too, I’ve been riding since it opened and it still makes me jump.
King Kong was so mouldy! And the Hitchcock animatronic at the boarding station. Hilarious.
So glad to see Jacob getting recognition! I've been a fan of his since...2015, I think? His channel is eclectic & fascinating
The part of the Efteling that scared me most was on de Vliegende Hollander. The part when you’re on the lifthill and the sculpture turns into a skull.

I love Trimper’s Haunted House! Glad to see it on this list.

I still love the fata morgana and everything that has anything to do with efteling
Holy shit, he got the Carpetbagger to narrate
Tbh Lagoon has Terroride and that ones pretty scary! Dracula’s castle is cool but not as scary, but it’s cool they even have more than 1 dark ride in the same park! Pretty scary in my opinion!
Trimper's Haunted house actually has live actors as well.

"Dinosaurs are the textbook definition of awesome."
I strongly agree with this statement.
And oh, if you are someone like LS Mark, shame on you.
