  • An easy 'no frills' tote bag with a simple magnetic fastening, I've used Decovil Light to stabilise, a foam or fleece would work well too. Canvas fabric is ideal as it's strong and durable, I've used Butterfly Flower cotton canvas and Lavender Purple canvas, with grey cotton for the lining.
    Materials from www.debbieshore...
    You will need:
    28" x 10" [71cm x 26cm] patterned fabric
    28" x 20" [71cm x 51cm] plain fabric
    28" x 16" [71cm x 41cm] lining fabric
    Cut:
    2 patterned pieces each measuring 14" x 10" [36cm x 26cm]
    2 plain pieces each measuring 14" x 6" [36cm x 15cm
    2 plain pieces for the flap each measuring 6" x 8" [15cm x 20cm]
    2 plain pieces for the handles each measuring 24" x 4" [61cm x 10cm]

    Can't wait to get started on this bag! It's going to be really useful when travelling - I can throw in book, water, snacks, let alone the phone, as well as all the usual bag stuff. Thank you Debbie for another winning project.

    I just finished making mine. 😊 The hardest part, for me was the handles. I added an extra-firm interfacing to them and ended up with some creases and spots along the edge where the interfacing is showing. Otherwise, I'm happy. I had never tried to make a bag like this before.

    watching you for a bi and made a lot of stuff you taught me a lot but I was wondering " 28x10 and so on, then cut 14x10 is 28x10 just in case ?

      14x10 is the measurement for each side..

    Looks lovely . Would this bag work ok using cotton instead of canvas ?

    • @katielove9932
      @katielove9932 2 года назад

      If you used cotton, it could stretch out of shape depending on what is carried in it. Canvas holds up better.

    Hi Debbie, do you recommend to use popeline fabric to make a bag? Which fabrics do you suggest to use when making them? Thank You so much

    • @debbieshore
      @debbieshore  2 года назад +1

      Poplin would be fine but you’ll probably need interfacing to give it stability
