    Yours is the only video that shows how to remove an outer fitting, which is what I need to do. I have a drain pipe coming in the wall in the kitchen. The old sink needed an elbow to move the drain over a bit and now I no longer need it, but there isn't enough of the original PVC to cut it off and attach a new pipe to it.

    Would the hole saw get hot enough by heating it with heat gun, or do I need to buy a torch?

      HI, a heat gun is definitely not hot enough! The hole saw basically needs to be glowing red hot..

    Can you use a hairdryer instead of heat gun?

    Peeling those ends out is easier when using a needle nose plier. One jaw can be inserted completely into the joint and then the pliers rotated...

    Use a solvent weld cement and it won’t ever come apart.

      This is just with the "regular" PVC glue that is commonly used on these types of joints.😀

    Everyone has a video on removing and saving the coupling but what about saving the pipe?

    • @TheHomeImprovementChannel
      @TheHomeImprovementChannel  6 месяцев назад

      That might prove a bit more difficult. I've used this method to remove a toilet flange for example with the pipe still in the floor.. You have to put a new connector on while the pipe is still malleable so it stays nice and round.. You don't have to glue it, just so it keeps the shape nice and true.

      @@TheHomeImprovementChannel I just finished with the job for a bathroom drain assembly. The p-trap was located under cement so I was working with a 2-in pipe that had a connector on it. It required some work but I was able to remove the connector with a heat gun and needle nose pliers. I let it cool down and sanded it. However, I think your solution would have been a little less work. All in all, it was a pain but worth it since I didn't have to do any cement work. Thanks!

      Definitely! Anytime you don't have to break cement is a plus.... 😀@@NappyWayz
