Zack is the DLC character for RTJ
PROPHETS OF RAGE
haha (nerf Zack tho)
Shame, I wanted 18 Fire Emblem characters instead.
Fr lmao
I'm too poor to afford the DLC. This song feels kinda empty at the end now.
Favorite part is Zach de la Rocha singing about Toussaint Louverture and the Haitian Revolution. Like damn dude.
Black Jacobins
@@ttbr7687 I wrote a paper on the Black Jacobins when I was an undergraduate. Great book but hard to read.
everyone should read the book by CLR James, it blew my fucking mind
Like damn lol
Or the Jesse Owens reference in the video, who won Gold medals in the 1936 Berlin Olympics (featuring Hitler!) and whipping Aryan ass!
On a real note im really glad to see zack de la rocha still doing his thing, super nostalgic hearing his flow in a newer track
Yeah its awesome to hear him rapping over more classic hip hop type beats!
Where are you?
They're touring together right now or soon
@@josotsrohebroni2537 in a place, why?

When they showed the gun made out of cellphones it totally reminded me of Childish Gambino's 'This is America' when he tells the kids to grab their tooly which is just another name for a gun but when the camera pivots you see teens with bandana face masks brandishing phones taking video. I'm glad there are artists out there today still putting introspective effort into their lyrics.
"Got a Vonnegut punch for your Atlas shrug" 🤯
El-P spitting hot fire as always

I couldn't believe it when I first heard it lol, that's just poetry.
"Stay strapped" (Shows a gun made of cellphones).....it's rare to see a music video that has imagery and symbolism that matches the brilliance of the song itself. My hat's off to Winston Hacking. Absolute genius.
I feel dumb, but could you explain the significance of a gun made of cellphones?
@@bryannewell2422 It means to stay alert and, if need to, use your cellphone as a 'weapon' to video/photo capture proof of injustice (police brutality or otherwise). Then again, this is a work of art, and open to interpretation, but that's the message I got out of it.
@@medicineman0902 Awesome interpretation, thanks for getting back at me. The fact that they were burner phones/flip phones kind of threw me for a loop. I thought maybe Nokia=Brick phones, Bricks=Cocaine but from there it unravels. I'm going to pair this with a Langston Hughes poem in my English class. The title of the poem, and the content, makes you think it was written recently, but it's not. Can't stop playing this song, it's so good. And the video reminds me of This is America, so much to interpret.
@@medicineman0902 I agree, and I'd add that all the cellphones connected together represent the social networks used to share those videos and information.
That reminded me of Childish Gambino's 'This is America' when he tells the kids to grab their tooly which is just another name for a gun but when the camera pivots you see teens with bandana face masks brandishing phones taking video. I'm glad there are artists out there today still putting introspective effort into their lyrics.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how much RTJ respect Zack de la Rocha???
when RATM was the biggest band in the world and Zack left with more money than god in his pocket, he chose to sleep on EL-Ps couch in some shithole apartment in brooklyn for a month, and wanted to make a record w/ him. this was due to him being aware of the underground scene at that time and el-p as an innovator. the record never came to light but there was no (at least no lasting) bad blood. soooo... it makes sense that now RTJ on page1 they wanna involve their real friends who've been down and had real shit to say since before their names were worth a $
Because much like RATM, RTJ likes to speak the truth
@@pa1nted Zack and El-P were college roommates as well
As somebody who hates "screw everybody else" libertarians, "Got a Vonnegut punch for your Atlas Shrugged" is a line which makes me smile every time I hear it
It not someone else's job to take care of you
Hahah for real. Ayn Rand lived off social security (the very thing all her books attempt to make a case against) during her later years. That's rich now, innit?
"It not" your job to learn English apparently. Lmfao
@@hashylarry8524 I would argue that her life is much more nuanced than you are making it out to be. Yes, she did live off of social security and medicaid in her later years, but she also paid her taxes dutifully even though she was a libertarian. Also, she gets much more of a bad rap due to Republicans citing her, even though she was a true libertarian and not a Republican (she was against Reagan, making fun of him; she was anti-God and an atheist activist, and pro-abortion. She is a very complicated figure and her thoughts were marred by her life.
How could she possibly like or support any form of socialism when she knew Imperial Russia, saw it fall and with it saw the rise of anti-semitism that targeted her family, then the rise of communism and countless Jews dying; especially since she was an intellectual that would have been killed for her outspoken liking for America.
People often forget that it was Marx who suggested that capitalism was a Jewish invention and plague, in Das Kapital, and Soviet Russia was as Nazi as Nazi Germany. Hitler was, in fact, inspired by Marx and hated Jews as well as communists, attributing both financial systems to "Jewish illness and contagion".
In short, Rand held controversial opinions that were products of their time and of her experiences. Whilst we can disagree with her views and we can say that objectivism on its own is not a proper nor complete philosophy, one can appreciate the emphasis on self-respect and self-determination she places. Her ideal society isn't one of anarcho-capitalism, it is one where men still work together, just willingly. She rejects traditional pity and charity, instead focusing on man's ability to determine their own lives freely; without subjecting anyone to their rule, or being subjected to anyone. Living for oneself.
Her message has been perverted and blown out of proportions. I encourage you to read The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged if you want, you'll find they're very pedestrian in their writing styles and not worth all of the hype, but they aren't necessarily bad. They are capitalist fantasies, with very shallow characters that serve as mouthpieces, but that is the point. She did, however, help women's rights a fair bit-- She wrote strong female characters and a female protagonist in industry in Atlas Shrugged. She was herself a strong woman. And I believe she deserves better than being misrepresented on RUclips comments.
As per her social security, she believed it to be payback on her taxes paid that she considers theft, though it did hurt her. As did negative critics of her books. She had trouble with substances all of her life and had an amphetamine addiction, and chain-smoked. She lost her husband and her lover cheated on her. Her popularity waned as she got older, then she died and her books went mainstream again and landed on the shelves of the giants of industry that all cite from it. She was neither good nor bad, in my opinion-- People are complicated.
That being said, dope bar by El-P.
@@JPZaGod She paid her taxes because otherwise her entitled ass would be thrown in jail, no other reason.

Diệu Lý the suggestion of strength in relation to a concept, implies it has depth. Use whatever descriptors you want, we are describing the same sentiment. You parsing my words is your attempt to “think”, when in fact you are doing the opposite.
Isaiah Maldonado I’m not saying there isn’t any merit, I’m saying this medium doesn’t allow for concepts to be clearly explored. How the language needs to be structured inhibits the writer, the ideas become too abstracted. That abstractions lends itself to aesthetics, but can only give the impression of profundity; upon deeper analysis, these ideas fall apart or fall dramatically short.
I love the Monty Python Terry Gilliam aesthetic/art direction, also this might be the best song Run The Jewels has made, so great.

no human can sound more aggressive on a mic than Zack de La Rocha🔥
I never thought Vonnegut being referenced in a song could be so dope.
Loved that, but didn't fully get the allusion? Did Vonnegut ever make any specific criticism of Atlas Shrugged or Ayn Rand, or is it just a reference to their very different worldviews as expressed in their work?
Welcome to RTJ!!
@@bryannewell2422 probably a bit of the different world views plus the pun working best with two writers
@@oggyreidmore Thanks. I'm familiar with Ayn Rand being a hero among Libertarians, just never associated Vonnegut with a political movement to the same extent. Always saw his work as more of a criticism of how things are rigged.
@@oggyreidmore Far Right? Not even man. Fascists are Far Right. Ancaps are not far right at all. You're totally right and i'm not disagreeing with you on what you said.
He's the best chance to overthrow said government.
Problem is i don't think our government needs destroyed. There's tons of corruption stretching throughout both parties and in many branches and offices. Electing Trump doesn't fix the problem... he just rigs the problem in a different direction.
Trump's agenda is total 'car salesman' tactics and sells the nation stories about how well the car will run. Meanwhile we're driving a junker thinking we got a reliable ride that we might be able to pass down to our children.
