I grew up listening to GS & actually met Guru, DJ Premier, Jeru the Damaja, MOP & Group home all the same night. What a night...all Legends to me. One Love Hip Hop
Using rap on ozark was totally out of place and really took away from the show. Absolutely terrible choice by the ozark creators. Used amazing songs but for the wrong reasons and it hurt the show.
Seeing Premier makes me so happy. Guru passing in 2010 hit me hard, so seeing a track show up right next to the tenth anniversary of his death with his old partner in rhymes soothed the soul.
El's been brilliantly calling out bullshit since the early 2000s. He questioned 9/11 on "Accidents Don't Happen" in 2002 and also produced Mr. Lif's 9/11 skepticism song "Home of the Brave" for his Def Jux label that same year, and this was back when almost NOBODY had the balls to say anything about 9/11, not even militant leftist punk bands. Back then, you were treated like a holocaust denier if you didn't wholeheartedly agree that 9/11 was the greatest tragedy in the history of civilization, and criticizing the government's response to the attack or even suggesting that the whole attack was shady would get you labeled "mentally ill," with nearly everybody going along with it. Listening to these songs back then gave me tremendous comfort and made me feel like I wasn't the only one who noticed this stuff. Then once the US surveillance state had become fully entrenched over the course of the Bush administration, El followed those songs up with the even more explicitly conspiratorial 9/11 song "Run the Numbers" in 2007, plus the video for "Smithereens" off the same album showed him being tortured in a Guantanamo-style interment camp, then in 2011 he wrote "Drones Over Brooklyn" etc. He's always had his fingers on the pulse of what's really going on.
@@biganimetiddies1287 He's touting the russian narrative and tried to be clever by saying nazi/not see as if thats not the most generic thing ever. Ironic he didn't say "rush in" instead of russians. Just some cornball shit, best ignore it.

I love how Killer Mike and El-P are starting to look like one another. You know how there's some couples who wind up looking more and more alike over time or how some dogs look an awful lot like their owners? That's Killer Mike and El-P and that kind of true love is absolutely beautiful ❤️

How modern hip-hop/rap should sound …… powerful, majestic and utterly beautiful!
I agree this is amazing, but why argue that all artist should conform to one specific sound? Diversity in music is what makes it such an amazing ocean to explore.

SO many times watching this, and I only today noticed that Mike is wearing a jacket with the cover for Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures" on the front. Awesome.

Thank you to Ozark for helping me find this gem 🙏 This song was released in 2020 but resonates 90's hiphop to me💘
I 2nd that
I 3RD THAT....I LOVE WHEN GREG NICE DOES HIS LIL "OOH LA LA AH OUI OUI"....BRINGS ME BACK TO NICE & SMOOTH DAYS....
Heard this on an episode of Superman and Lois. I really thought it was a song from the 90's. This that 🔥
Screw helen
Using rap on ozark was totally out of place and really took away from the show. Absolutely terrible choice by the ozark creators. Used amazing songs but for the wrong reasons and it hurt the show.
Seeing Premier makes me so happy. Guru passing in 2010 hit me hard, so seeing a track show up right next to the tenth anniversary of his death with his old partner in rhymes soothed the soul.
Greg nice used to work with guru back when too
El's been brilliantly calling out bullshit since the early 2000s.
