It was a new tube of glue that I had around & didn’t think quite so much was going to come out 😂😂😂 It got a fair grip on it, but luckily once on the road with the clutch pedal pressed & a few snaps of the throttle it left go 💪💪💪 Thank goodness 😅
Nice trick 👀 with that one peter will help a lot of people out as those self adjuster tools are not cheap and you could use this trick with fitting a normal clutch too . Thanks for sharing . 👍👌
We use to do this with new cars that had been sitting in the showroom for a few weeks and the clutch disc had rusted stuck. Start them in gear and drive while dropping the clutch. Would break loose after pressing clutch 8 or 9 times. Good tip if you don’t have the tool.
I just align by eye, sit the clutch & pressure plate against the flywheel and loosely fit a couple of the old bolts, position yourself so you are square on to the centre of the flywheel, ie not looking at an angle, nip up the pressure plate bolts so it JUST grabs the friction plate (but allows it to move with a bit of effort) and align it central. Bolt down and torque up when you are happy it's aligned. Alignment is only to allow the gearbox shaft to go back in to the splines and spigot bearing when mating the gearbox to the engine, first time the clutch pedal is pressed the friction plate aligns itself perfectly anyway. Have never owned or used a clutch alignment tool!
10 outa 10 for that one Peter 👍👍I unwittingly did a similar thing many years ago on a much larger scale I’d done a clutch n flywheel on a Rover 213 quite rightly I’d applied a little loctite to the flywheel bolts but as it turned out rather to much on road test everything initially was fine until a 3 mile stretch of road in top gear came to a T junction and the dam clutch wouldn’t disengage the Excess Loctite had got between the clutch plate n flywheel glued it up solid 😂😂😂wasn’t laughing at the time😅
Hi Anto, yes I am still there but unfortunately for you but luckily for me I am closed for 2 weeks holidays. You have actually just reminded that I haven’t changed the answering machine 😬😬 Contact me on mobile, look up Kennedysgarage.ie 😉😉
Instead of super glue/or if you don't have any I use two 90° picks to hold the clutch disc centred, its can get fiddly but it hasn't failed me yet and you can just drive as normal when off the ramp 👍
Hi Fergal, yes that would absolutely work perfect. I just find it a little hard to see when the disc is centralised due to the central hole being covered. But yes, good idea 💪💪💪
Hey Colm, a very simple trick but you would be surprised how it wouldn’t enter some people’s head. So a good little reminder does no harm. The glue got a fair hold on this wagon 😂😂😂
Do those kits not list the makes amd models they supposed to fit. Assume there are more than 1 maker of them that do the most common cars. Alternatively...Could you build up the nearest fitting tool from the kit with roll of insulation tape. ?
They are labelled Chris but the BMW one was too big. And yes I could also have built up the nearest one with some tape but just chose to share the glue trick. And I had a nice new bottle of glue I wanted to open, I know I’m weird 😂😂😂😂
Peter quick question. The new 2016 Mazda 3 petrol is going strong but there's a fair bit of hesitation from the engine below 1500rpm in 1st n 2nd. Cleaned the MAF and the throttle body today. There's an improvement but it's not perfect. Would you say a new MAF sensor is in order. Fuel filter is a lifetime job so can't be changed apparently. Love the show.❤❤❤ No warning lights either. Thanks
I’m assuming no fault code stored?? Would it be worth going back to basics and having a look at the air filter?? I’m not familiar with this engine but is it direct injection & could it benefit from a walnut blast in the intake ports 🤔🤔
@kennedysgarage3281 Thanks Peter. Appreciate your help. When the missus worked in Mazda she used to bring these yokes home alot. I'm nearly sure they did the same thing new.🤣🤣 ...Holy crap just checked out a video on walnut blasting...they actually use real walnuts😍😍😍
@@bastogne315 most direct injection engines suffer from carbon buildup in the intake ports. Simply because the fuel being injected at the manifold washed the ports as the fuel was entering the cylinders. Always some kind of negative with the emissions related stuff 😬😬😬
I did thr superglue on a renault and guess what, i had to do the clutch a second time, the glue would not let go, i drow the car with the clurch down, anf let gas out and in so the car jurked as hell but no, did maybe 40 laps around the shop and it is a big ass shop😂😂😂😂

The superglue is genius and I’m amazed it held for as long as it did…if only it was that good on hard plastics..I got a cheap and nasty clutch alignment tool kit…not anything as fancy as your set and part if it had been machined offset…most pointless tool I still have 😂 I came across a dual mass flywheel on a ‘not BMW’ 🤪 and I could not remove it..the access holes for getting at the bolts that hold it to the crank would no align. Asked the main dealer was there any method …”angle grinder” and new dual mass (€1,500 and probably crank … no price was immediately fourth coming 🫣) Have you ever encountered this Peter? And if so did it involve an angle grinder to get it off?
Yes Damien as DC says it is quite common & the only method I have found to get them off is a 4inch grinder and skinny disc. It really does slow the job down but doesn’t damage the crank. Cars eh 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
That was the best ever..love the glue trick. Can't believe it held firm against metal like that...pure Mac Gyver.❤

Quite common for the DMF to cover the mounting bolts when knackered and yes an angle grinder is the usual way to resolve access 👍
