    Awesome video. I installed my first clutch and was a bit concerned about the diaphragm springs looking flatter after installation, but this video confirms that this is normal after a clutch install.

    Use of this tool l ensures the clutch angle geometry stays the same throughout its life. (clutch pedal pressure remains constant).
    If the tool ain't used then the pedal pressure increases as the clutch wears.
    It is clearly stated (with diagrams) on the LUK technical site.

    I've just installed a clutch on a renault megane 225. I followed a video showing the clutch plate prongs being compressed with a press, then the self adjusting springs release then you turn them to compress the self adjusting springs, then you release the press off the clutch cover and that's it set.
    But now that i've installed it the clutch isn't disengaging??

    • @urbanrider1972
      @urbanrider1972 6 лет назад

      Does the clutch pedal still feel good? I ask because the clutch on 225's doesn't require compressing or the use of this tool. so either something went very wrong when doing that ^ (which unfortunately is likely) or there is some sort of hydraulic issue which is common because the slaves can be a bitch to bleed :/

    • @robbocop33r12
      @robbocop33r12 6 лет назад

      @@urbanrider1972 yes, pedal has full travel and comes up back to the top. I have bled the clutch line till i'm sick doing it.
      I'm sure the clutch friction disc isn't being released and is just jammed in there somehow
      Slave cylinder 'is' pushing the pressure plate fingers, but clutch isn't disengaging?
      I have reverse bled the clutch, vacuum bled it and done it per the renault service manual 3 stage process.
      3 stages are open bleed, pump pedal till no bubbles, then close bleed, then push down pedal once, open bleed, close bleed, pedal up, do this till you're sickened, then final reverse bleed.
      Everyone is telling me its the bleeding, but i just can't believe it, i think they're might be a British clutch fluid shortage, and it's all been me!

    • @urbanrider1972
      @urbanrider1972 6 лет назад

    • @robbocop33r12
      @robbocop33r12 6 лет назад

    All you guys talking about aligning the clutch by eye must be old school shade tree guys with low comprehension skills. You COMPLETELY missed the whole point of this video, AND what this tool is for.
    It's NOT for aligning clutches, it's for setting/resetting the SAC (Self Adjusting Clutch) mechanism on this specific type of pressure plate. A plate most higher end European cars have that adjusts automatically as the friction disk wears and prevents the pedal effort from increasing as the disk wears.

    • @arielatom03
      @arielatom03 6 лет назад +1

      J.D. Chapman the first part i figured myself but what difference does it make in the self adjust mechanism if i just bolt the pressure plate like in older vehicles? (In a star pattern of course)

    • @KingZoneOne
      @KingZoneOne 6 лет назад +2

      People say that you can do it like that successfully, but ONLY if you're using a BRAND NEW PRESSURE PLATE. If you're re-using your same/old one with a NEW friction disc, you MUST reset your old plate so it is in it's "new" pressure plate setting. Otherwise it will be incorrectly set as if you've got a worn friction disc in, and it may not self-seat or "bed" correctly and ruin your new friction disc. You would think that it would re-adjust on it's own, but I don't know if I'd take that chance and have to pull everything again.

    • @arielatom03
      @arielatom03 6 лет назад +1

      J.D. Chapman but i never replace just the disc, i always replace the whole kit (pressure plate, disc and throw-out bearing) so my question still remains.

    • @KingZoneOne
      @KingZoneOne 6 лет назад +3

      Then if your pressure plate (and everything else) is brand new, there's no reason to have to reset it, it's set from the factory, just install it. Sometimes the factory setting is messed up in shipping if the kit is handled too roughly. So if that was the case, you really should reset it to be safe. It's a simple enough procedure.
