Over the years people have attempted to assassinate his character. It seems unwarranted and he strikes me as genuine and good hearted individual. Just from an outsighter looking in standpoint.
Robert Burgett I literally grew up around Tony , his story never once changed. he also told me about mr wonderful
biting his ear off cause he had him folded up into a pretzel and he had no other way to fight back. I honestly think Dutch embellished parts of his story to make himself look less cowardly. He had nothing to do with it and I'm sure was horrified that it happened, but the incident probably put him in a panicked state worried about his own life (especially being a gringo and the perps implicated being his bosses). Bottom line----Tony was really the only friend Brody had that day... props also to Sika and to Savio Vega for giving Tony the heads up to get off the island ASAP!!!

I'm just going to lay this out there. Dutch Mantel,was supposed to ride to the stadium with,Jose Gonzales,from the hotel,but was left behind. Dutch Mantel,said he could feel the tension in the locker room. Was he privy to any information before hand? Dutch Mantel,moments before,Brody was stabbed,stepped out of the locker room and returned moments after it happened. Did he know something was about to go down before he stepped out of the locker room?

Tony's account is first hand he was in the locker room, in the ambulance, and at the hospital, Mantel was not in the locker room when the stabbing occurred, not in the ambulance, and not at the hospital by his own admission. He's telling a lot for someone who basically didn't see anything first hand and went to work to Colon and them later on.

First and foremost, I appreciate you all reading my comment to Tony about what was said in the Viceland documentary by Brody's spouse and Dutch in regards to Dutch talking with the police. I've been a huge fan of Tony's since the 1980's, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for him and the things he's done for us wrestling fans. Second, and much more importantly, I would like to apologize to Tony for doubting his words in light of the document you read to him from Dutch Mantell circa 2012. I'm truly sorry and I hope I didn't upset Tony as it wasn't my intent. Like all fans of Brody's, we just want the whole truth and nothing but. Seems Tony is the only one who is 100% consistent, thus making his story the most believable.
I really don't know why Dutch's story has been inconsistent over the years. When he does video interviews, from Hannibal TV to Kayfabe and even Viceland, Dutch always seems to be on point. For whatever reason, however, Dutch's story about that night is vastly different when he talks about personal retellings in text.
No matter how you look at the events of that day, it's a real shame what happened to Brody. I don't care who Brody pissed off, made enemies of, he didn't deserve to die. My heart and soul goes out to Bruiser's family and friends, but especially to Tony. Lord knows if I could turn back time I'd alter the timeline and stop Brody's murder from happening, as I'm sure many of us would if we could.
Please let Tony know. You don't have to read this to him in a future video, but do let him know that I am deeply sorry for any offense I may have caused.

What a true Gentleman Tony Atlas is. I've heard his version of events several times and nothing changes fact wise. To be the only one to help a fellow wrestler in his moment of need while others turned their backs shows what a Giant' of a human he is. To carry Brody's body to the ambulance and stay with him is truly heartbreaking. Thank god Brody had this angel by his side. He shouldn't feel guilty for leaving him as he was the one that got him out of harms way. God Bless Tony. RIP Brody you seemed a very loving, intelligent human being.

In a prior interview, Tony even mentioned that when he returned to his hotel room, Savio Vega had his bags because there were 2 guys waiting for Atlas.

He told me that because my father and jose were close friends. This situation is sooo deep, between Billy Jack and Tony giving the internal details I see truth in all their sayings, everything sync, here we go. Keep in mind Gorilla Monsoon had a piece of ownership in WWC while working for WWF at the same time in 1988, he gave word to Vince that Brody was trying to buy in in Puerto Rico.....From the words of Billy Jack that's when the hit was out, Jose knew he was going to lose his job cause Brody was bringing in a new crew once he got in position, it was an orchestrated network hit, Brody was too independently powerful and gaining more and at that period Vince was taking over the industry, so the things Tony and Billy says sync together and totally add up!!

I don't know man, I wouldn't be surprised either way, I just know it's NO LIMIT with Vince and at that period he was on hostile takeover of the industry and he was still pissed with Brody for not signing with WWF to do Wrestlemania 2 with Hogan, so Vince had his issues as well with him, but I personally don't know it's so much to these stories and a lot more we haven't heard yet, I believe Billy and Tony stories all the way!!
Wow that's very insane yet very believable. Like Atlas said the wrestling business... Very cutthroat. I think there are a few things Dutch is bs-ing about but when it comes to the truth he's speaking those miniscule lies are indeed minor as far as the majority of the truth. My opinion considering all the interviews I've heard and watched from Tony Everytime this horrific topic have always been very consistent as far as his interpretation is concerned. At this point, we have two camps: one Pro-Atlas and one Pro-Dutch. Two 'truths' entered, but only one truth can survive.
I believe Dutch did speak to the cops when Tony wasn't aware, why else would Cowboy get subpoenaed? But I also believe Mr. Atlas was the ONLY wrestler who gave a dam and risked his life to protect another, regardless of the consequences.
I have noticed that Dutch hasn't claimed anything that Tony has said was false, instead, Dutch has given his perspective and only his perspective on what happened that day(s) and the subsequent prosecution of the case. In fact, it seems his 'perspective' reveals even more of what he claims happened that day, every time he gives an interview.
Sooner rather than later these two men will have to clear the air and hopefully compare 'notes'. Regardless this was a set-up from start to finish. I think Abdulla was more involved than just a co-owner and just simply gauging the collective consciousness of the wrestlers, after the assault and the announcement of Brody's death. I did watch the Vice doc, Abdulla's testimonial is lacking sincerity, but that's just me.
Here's the rub. Even though 'he' was acquitted from murder, possible co-conspirators may be liable. I think there may have been someone else in that shower or the knife was left in the shower and was removed after Brody was rushed to the hospital and stashed in the gym bag when 'he' left the scene of the crime. I think a co-conspirator went into the shower and removed the knife after all those present were not watching. I would not be surprised if that knife is STILL in somebody's possession this day.
I love that every story Tony tells never builds himself up like a hero or some BS like other interviews. Just tells it how it was, he’s got nothing to prove

It's hard to believe which one is exactly one hundred percent correct with stories like these. I'm sure there was a bunch h of shit going on that had them both scared, in a foreign country, and having their friend/employee get murdered in the same vicinity as they are at the time, then all the threats and shady shit going on, etc. I think they both had alot going on at the time and so much worry and paranoia that it probably would make it hard for either of the two people here to remember every detail of the story that happened, over 20-30 or more years ago now. I mean I would have a hard time remembering alot of that myself so i dont blame either of them at all for mixed up details or certain parts of the story if they are just trying to tell people what they remember from their point of view.. I just wouldn't put it past them to forget alot of what happened before, during, and after the day Brody died. Does that make sense? 🤔 I see what you guys mean and where your coming from. Tony sound like everything he's sayings legit but who's to say the local cops didn't just burn his statement (maybe under duress/bribed) as he was the only one pointing fingers and would have been the main witness for the prosecution.

The things he argues about Dutch seem insignificant, like saying Dutch never went to the police station.. Dutch said he went after Tony did when Tony got back to the hotel he said he went then.. That could be true, Who knows. Also, Dutch thinking it was Tonys hotel room they had the meeting in when it was really Abbys.. That's not a big deal like he's lying in some conspiracy. Dutch and Tonys stories seem to mostly match up considering this was almost 40 years ago and everyone was so emotional.
