I am looking for this exact mod as i just bought a new battery, but seems like i can fix the old one with a new BMS. Have you tested charging and balancing abilities with this setup? You can do the Y charger or charge them separately, or get the Rita device for around 60eur and then you don’t care about the difference in voltages (if you have seen my latest video I just got it myself, even plugging in 50.4V 12s battery). every battery has a separate bms, you do not need to connect it to anywhere. If you have 2 packs charged to the same level and connected in parallel - the battery "Does not know" that it's capacity has increased 2x nor does it have to :)
Ya don't have too once you connect batteries they both are controlling the battery packs so as long as they are both reading the exact reading of voltage then cross wires parallel and also too the same port to charge
Thanks mate, there are 2 of them installed and two temperatures displayed. One is between the first and the second cell, and one somewhere in the middle of the pack.
Aldis Garais yeah that is a problem. I will try and look it up when I am back at my pc mate. I am a bit traveling at the moment. I think it was uploaded by some spanish guy and there were a few spanish comments 🙄 I know it is not very accurate 😂
I would probably also :) If you know where to get inserts to mount the m365 wheel at the rear please let me know. I am trying to find them for 4 months now and literally everyone is out of stock...
Creative Stuff I would say yes, unless you are using balancing charger and are sure you won’t drain the battery too much 🙄 it just can be any bms, not necessarily m365 one
When you connect the second battery do you need to connect any other cable besides the one with the xt30? There are 2 more extra cable that's the battery...
:) Someone most probably will correct me: There is one going to the main board/controller, you only need it connected from your main battery. Now the other one is the charging port. You could do another Y-joint there and just use the original charging port to charge both of your batteries at the same time. If you will not do the Y split, as far as I understand, both batteries will still charge, but the second battery will not be attempted to be "balanced" with the BMS. A good solution would be to install the second charge port and charge both batteries at the same time with 2 separate original chargers. And “good” = fast :) Oh, and there is one more cable - at the back for the light. Only connect it from one battery.

Hi, sorry for asking, but am I right that If I want to do this I just connect the xt60 connectors parallel and connect just one bms? What about charging? Do I just connect the charger like normally and they will both charge even with one bms disconnected? Thanks!
you have to have separate BMS for separate packs. BMS will watch for over/under current not only in the whole pack but also in individual cell groups. Depending what type of BMS you use your pack may or may not charge through the power output port, by the way, I think it is xt30 in xiaomi. But you can easily make a small parallel connection to a charging port and then just use one charger as always

Dulla Han if you charge them to the same level before connecting together - it wouldn’t. You scooter’s battery already has 10s2p: 10 cells in series and 2 in parallel. I just recommend to use the second battery pack with it’s own BMS.
@@VRMinde i tried running the m365 battery on a 36v ebike controller and bcm cuts off once at full throttle. Do you think it would cause any problem if i solder xt60 directly on the battery terminals before it enters the bcm and charge it through the regular balance port after the battery needs a charge?
Dulla Han Are you talking about BMS (battery managenent system) or something else that you call bcm? Most probably m365’s bms is cutting off after not receiving some communication from the controller. But I am just guessing. I do not know that for sure. If you just bypass the BMS you will be able to use the pack of course. But you have to make sure you won’t over-discharge it as there is nothing stopping you to do so. And you do not want to overdischarge the li-ion cells :)
@@VRMinde yes the bms(sorry im so used to calling it bcm), the unit that sits at the very tip of the battery. Im certain there a fail safe on the bcm that prevents over draw thats why it shuts down when at full throttle then power back up when released. Im thinking of running 2 m365 batteries in parallel but bypassing both bcm using a 500w ebike controller.
Dulla Han ok, I never heard it called bcm - allways BMS :) but what’s important that we understand each other :D You can do that of course... but you do understand that you should not draw more from the cell than it is specified to “give away”? And that without the BMS nothing will be controlling the individual cell voltage. And if thepack goes unbalanced and a cell goes below 3.0v you might even have a short circuit in the cell? And it can burn your house/garage or something else :) If you are ok taking those risks go for it :)
To be 100% safe I would make a Y (parallel) connection on the charging wires after the charge port as well. Then just charge both batteries at the same time through their charging wires, but with the same one charger. That would allow the separate BMSs of every battery to stop charging if the set voltage has been reached. It would also lower the charging current for every battery in half. I think that would be a safe way, but hey, do it at your own risk :)
@@VRMinde Hi thanks for the reply, appreciate it :) . anyway, i did an upgrade on my xiaomi after watching your video. test it for about 2 weeks and works perfectly fine. i'm completely happy for the range i can reach with this mod. Keep it up man, many thanks for all your videos ^^
@@claudiotimotius858 Thanks for the kind feedback mate. I understand what are you asking, and I assume it is "kind of safe" to do that. Your "normal battery" is charged via charging wires and through the BMS. But as its' voltage is going up - the second battery will also be charging as it is connected to the positive and negative terminals of the first one. The problem that I can see is that the BMS of the second battery cannot stop that charging if something goes wrong, because the charging is not going through it. Let's say you have a bad cell - during the normal charge BMS can stop the charging in case of overcharge, short-circuit etc. , but in this case, it won't. That is the risk. I would either continue charging them separately and checking the voltage every time before I "join" them, but to be honest soldering a simple parallel connection on the charging port wires is 9999x easier :)
@@VRMinde Noted. Will Try to make Y parallel connection for next project. For now i will keep it in traditional way. Charge it separately :D thank you so much for the feedback! ^^

that weird that you could reach only 29km with two 7Ah batteries. I reach 30/32 km with a DIY 10 cells 3Ah battery pack that i added in parallel. PS i city ride with a top speed of 26km/h and 8.5" tires, but almost all my friends use 10"
I think all of these comparisons are not fair, as you say, depending on road, wind, tires, etc. I get like extra 1km/h copmpared to the stock as the battery voltage is still the same... With Rita and 50.4V external battery I get extra 4-5km/h
@@VRMinde i was talking about range not speed. Your has an efficiency of like 19 Wh/km where usually that number should be around 10-12 Wh/km, thats just too high for me, maybe a little tweaking with the firmware currents (using the beta version) could improve that. Rita is another story, more like an ninebot ES2 battery management system, i don't have that but seems good from your videos.

Where did you connect the bms cable of the extra battery?
every battery has a separate bms, you do not need to connect it to anywhere.
Nice video! The thermocouple that checked the battery temps will only be checking the 'first' battery I assume?
Thanks mate, there are 2 of them installed and two temperatures displayed. One is between the first and the second cell, and one somewhere in the middle of the pack.
Yes, only the battery connected to the ESC. The other one will still be protected but won't report any data

3d printed part was easier to get than another spare scooter :)
When you connect the second battery do you need to connect any other cable besides the one with the xt30? There are 2 more extra cable that's the battery...
:) Someone most probably will correct me:
There is one going to the main board/controller, you only need it connected from your main battery.
And “good” = fast :)
Oh, and there is one more cable - at the back for the light. Only connect it from one battery.

you have to have separate BMS for separate packs. BMS will watch for over/under current not only in the whole pack but also in individual cell groups.
Depending what type of BMS you use your pack may or may not charge through the power output port, by the way, I think it is xt30 in xiaomi.

Would running 2 m365 batteries in parallel cause damage to bcm or cells since they are independent?
Dulla Han ok, I never heard it called bcm - allways BMS :) but what’s important that we understand each other :D
You can do that of course... but you do understand that you should not draw more from the cell than it is specified to “give away”? And that without the BMS nothing will be controlling the individual cell voltage. And if thepack goes unbalanced and a cell goes below 3.0v you might even have a short circuit in the cell? And it can burn your house/garage or something else :)
If you are ok taking those risks go for it :)
Is it dangerous if we charge the scooter through the charging port when we connect second battery in parallel?
Or need to charge it separately?
But i didn't put the second battery on the deck. i made a custom bag for it so i can remove the battery anytime i want.
And for charging, i'm always charge it separately ( disconnect and take out the second battery from the bag ).
So i wonder if i can charge it directly from the scooter charging port without disconnect the second battery LOL (never try this before, so i need to ask) :D
anyway, love your video so far!
Charge it separately :D

I haven't replied to your comment? It is hard with youtube comments man :) It did not cost me anything as I had the second battery mate. But the costs would be equal to the battery price and a couple of euros for connectors.
that weird that you could reach only 29km with two 7Ah batteries.
I reach 30/32 km with a DIY 10 cells 3Ah battery pack that i added in parallel.
You'r shoulde be better than a xiaomi m365 PRO, where my friends reach easily 40km.
I think a lot changes on driving conditions, firmware and cells quality.
Gabriele Russo I agree, probably I would reach more. But I was pushing the motor power limits on the max speed all the time+motor power constant pretty low... and it is (always) windy here in Denmark...
@@VRMinde oh yeah, i was talking without wind didn't count that factor, thats a big issue on those up standing riding position scooters.
6min 46 clash royal village ? 😂😂😂
Yup, I live in the virtual world :)
That's a way to do it but for me it doesn't look practical riding with that little ground clearance. There are some 18650 cells that offer 3500mAh of capacity which is still 35% more range over the standard 2600mAh cells without even changing the construction of the scooter. You can check out Vortecks on youtube, he has made a beast M365 with custom cells and BMS.
Anonymous yeah, 100% agree. Larger cells would be the least appearance-changing way. But my office is like 2km away from home, so stock battery works well... For longer trips I go with ebike. But it was a fun experiment :)
@@VRMinde definitely. Keep up the good work, your videos show a lot of quality and dedication.
Anonymous thank you! I do spend some hours doing them, but I enjoy the process a lot. Thanks again!
compatible with pro 2 ?
I think the deck size is different, would need to redraw
wait wy so poor in range? mine is getting 28km whit the standard battery that has 6000km, 10" wheels and custom firmware (up to 35km/h). something is wrong in your scooter, I think
How much do you weight?
I have 15scooters with similar battery sizes and they are all wrong then as their range is very much similar 😅
@@VRMinde 75Kg so not so light. I have to say that where I live is really flat. This is what i get whit my custom firmware. Other firmwares I tryed where awfull both in range and in responsiveness
@@cmh-re well mate, we will have to stay with our opinions :) I am a bit heavier, about 88-90kg, but I need 48v battery to reach 35km/h on gps and as you can see double size batteries to reach your range at those speeds.
@@VRMinde what tire pressure are you running? I'm at 2.5bar
Ile mm ma dystanser ?
Im the only one who sow that invisible stick on his hand??
Lukáš Jordan you have magic powers - can see invisible things :D
Sounds like splatoon music lmao
:D
What speed in mph??
33km/h is 20.5mph. It is faster to google it mate :)
@@VRMinde will do and thanks
Can m365 non pro go up to 35km/h?
In theory yes :) in practice you will need like 13s-14s battery pack for that. 12s can be enough if you weight like 50kg
@@VRMinde But it's only have 250watts unlike m365 pro that has 300w. Is 250w is enough to handle 35kph? Because I badly want to have 35kph for road ride lol
@@gkeks1913 it can reach these speeds, but you would of course benefit from more powerful motor, especially if you want to maintain those speeds for longer periods of time.
If I needed to go for a longer distance + speed 30km/h + I would consider ebike instead :) much safer, more comfortable, faster, easier to carry stuff etc.
Looks kinda like g30 xd
Might be the same line of though 😂
what is there about the clearance? ahahaha
Not much 🤷🏻♂️
I tried using this on my xiaomi essential, when I flashed the file my scooter showed a red charging status, even tho it was at 100% and whenever I used it the speedometer stopped working, any insight on this?
1. Are you sure you connected the batteries in parallel?
2. Are both batteries charged to the same level?
3. Did you set in the custom firmware “remove charging mode”?
These should help :)
@@VRMinde Sorry forgot to add that I haven’t modded the scooter, it is completely stock. It’s very weird though and it got me nervous when the scooter started acting weird, I flashed it with another file that I’ve used before, i wanted to try something new since I could modify each setting, but I guess it isn’t compatible with the essential.
Thanks for your time, means a lot.
@@skratz062 you can use xiaoflasher app for android, paid version (1-5eur I think) will allow to flash the essential 🙄
@@VRMinde I just use down g it’s easy and free but I can’t exactly chose every option which kinda sucks and it drains my battery much quicker but what can I do
@@VRMinde I got the essential for 188€ because it was on sale in my country so I couldn’t let the offer slide it was too good
Why are you not wearing a helmet. Drive over one rock at 30kmh and its game over. Don't think you won't ever have an accident cos its those people who eventually do. 30kmh head damage will ruin your life for good
I think you are right - it is stupid of me. I am not conscious enough to understand why I do it. When I go skating I always wear a helmet. When I ride trails - I always wear one as well, full-face, friends are even teasing me that it is overkill.
I was commuting on bicycles and still am (daily) for all of my life. And I never wore a helmet for commuting. To begin with, in the Soviet Union we did not have any helmets :D Somehow e-scooter fell in the same "commuting" category, I guess. Thanks for calling it out!
@@VRMinde so hows living abroad? ;)
@@voidex136 never better man :)
it is dangerous to hit rocks
Taysi Kuu depends how big :)
@@VRMinde my pro base hits everywhere.
Pointless as you don't show how you connected the batteries together...
p-funk allstars have you not seen the Y-connedtion 02:40? They are simply connected in parallel.
