Hi I bought a Segway Ninebot ES2 and a month later bought the Ninebot Extra external battery making the scooter a ES4. It increases the power, range and speed. I’m having lots of problems with the 2 batteries unbalancing, when I get to my destination the external battery usual has more power left than the internal. Another thing that happens is when I start my trip the scooter does the normal fast speed but when one of the power bars on the display starts blinking the scooter slows down to the speed without the extra battery, like a ES2. Also there is 4 power leds on the external battery to check the power. All 4 leds blink a lot when I run my scooter full power. Iv taken the scooter back to where I bought it from several times and it’s still under guarantee. I noticed on the internet that it’s a common problem with this model.
I was wondering how it was possible to connect 2 different batteries in parallel, this explains it perfectly. I do have one question: When charging, the weaker battery will charge faster, does this device stop current going to the charged battery, while continuing to charge the stronger battery? I'm specially interested in using an original Xiaomi PRO2 battery, original firmware and original charger, while adding an external battery.
@Denis Yurev - Amazing video. Thank you. I do have one question: How would the Rita adaptor work if the external battery I connect has a BMS of its own? I have a spare M365 Pro battery that I was hoping I could use as an external battery for when I need it on long trips. Thank you!
Hello! Rita is designed to be used with a common port BMS equipped external battery, which means just one couple of wires sticking out of the battery for both charging and discharging. Original Xiaomi battery is equipped with a different type of BMS - separate port, with a dedicated charging port. Using this type of batteries with Rita as an external is not safe, since separate port BMSes are not able to control charging process via the discharge port.

Yes, small manufactures are not cost effective. And 18650 cells costs 1.5 times more expensive these times compared to 2020. I agree that is is very expensive mod, but it's really cool =)
Great video but the adapter is pointless. You do not need higher voltage to go 30+km/h. Just use the same battery voltage , the free software and the normal Y adapter. You can even moved the internal battery outside for easy on the go swapping (I use the bag on the front). I find that the most convenient. Using higher voltage you can and probably will destroy the motor pretty quickly.

This is a great vid but my head is spinning a bit being not a technical person. Have a Hiboy S2 Pro (basically M365 Pro). As long as you don't use the e-brake when both are fully charged, it should be fine, right?
Hi, there are no problems with regenerative braking at all when using the y-cable, because the original battery never gets "closed" for the charging current via its discharge output. In short, you may use any 10s(36V) battery via the y-cable, but keep in mind it will be charged via its discharging port, so a common port BMS equipped batteries are required, because they are able to manage charging process via its charge+discharge output, while separate port BMS are not able to interrupt charging in case of overvoltage or disbalance, so must be used carefully.
Is RITA designed to be used only for Xiaomi scooters, or can it be used for other similar systems? For instance, I have a Fiido D1 e-bike with an internal 36 V battery and I would like to have the possibility to add an external 36 V battery, without having to worry about matching the state of charge of the 2 batteries.
@@DenisYurev please let us know. I have a Glion dolly 36v and want to add a parallel battery for range :). maybe there is a simple setup that will work for all other types of scooters and ebikes, or even a change in the control unit or something. I wouldn't mind changing out some other parts as well as long as i can get it to work.
When charging both internal and 12s batteries, rita manual say that internal stop charging when it reach 42v. Can you limit it to 41.2v? I believe 42v is reducing the life spawn of the battery, also original charger is rated at 41.2v
Hi! Yes, Rita stops charging at 42V, but in fact your battery cells will be charged to approximately 41.4V, because Rita drops ~0.3V and the battery BMS also drops ~0.3V So, Rita do exactly what you need.
If you add a 11s or 12s additional battery, will Rita send this additional voltage to the controller? Or will it simply limit the voltage seen by the controller to be the maximum 42v? My question is, if you add an additional 11s or 12s or 13s battery, will this allow you to over volt the controller and get extra speed as the motor will receive a higher voltage. I understand you would need to use custom firmware to adjust the controller to allow the higher voltage.
@@YuPup2025 im aware the stock controller will work with up to 13s im interested to know if you use a 13s or 12s with rita, will rita send 12s or 13s voktage to the controller or will it send a regulated 10s voltage to the controller

For instance, I have a Fiido D1 e-bike with an internal 36 V battery and I would like to have the possibility to add an external 36 V battery, without having to worry about matching the state of charge of the 2 batteries.
Hello, I tested it with Xiaomi scooters only. I would say it is not compatible with other syatems until I test it.
@@xiaobai7060 Hi, just connect it in parallel, that is) But don't forget to align voltages first - they must be equal at the connection moment
When charging both internal and 12s batteries, rita manual say that internal stop charging when it reach 42v. Can you limit it to 41.2v? I believe 42v is reducing the life spawn of the battery, also original charger is rated at 41.2v
Hi!
Yes, Rita stops charging at 42V, but in fact your battery cells will be charged to approximately 41.4V, because Rita drops ~0.3V and the battery BMS also drops ~0.3V
So, Rita do exactly what you need.
Can you supply a Rita for a BOYUEDA 67v 5400w electric scooter?
Do I need to buy a different charger for ninebot as well?
Did you install the monorim v3 front suspension yet? wit X-lock and X-lock extender?
No) But there are a lot of geeks in my telegram group who did, you can ask there: t.me/m365_custom_electronics_en
Most controllers have a voltage limit of 63v due to the capacitor. 13s works with most 36v controllers. Nobody talks about it. But it's a fact.
@@YuPup2025 im aware the stock controller will work with up to 13s
im interested to know if you use a 13s or 12s with rita, will rita send 12s or 13s voktage to the controller or will it send a regulated 10s voltage to the controller
@@shaneskillzrepresent yes, it will send information about 12-13s battery. And this is clearly demonstrated in the beginning of the video, when I quickly hot plug-unplug the extra battery. Here it is - 1:22
Excellent video Dennis, thank you it was very informative. I would like to know if the Rita can be used for a second battery on a ebike too and also is the Rita similar to the Datex2 d2/d3 device?
Hi! I did a google search, but did not find a "Datex2 d2" or "Datex2 d3" device. So I am not able to compare it with Rita)
At this moment Rita supports Xiaomi e-scooter only, Ninebot e-scooters support is upcoming. I don't have plans to implement ebikes support. But you can try to use something like this aliexpress.com/item/1005003001301142.html if your ebike does not use a regenerative braking
@@DenisYurev Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it. I will try and find out more details on the Datex2 device and share it with you, could be of interest.
@@DenisYurev Hello Dennis, the Datex2 device is a parallel battery adaptor, l saw a video on RUclips about it.
Hey man. This is really amazing :D It's a shame that those scooters has a smart BMS on the battery. If the smart BMS was in the controller instead everything would be much easier since the scooter wont run without those data cables from the BMS to the controller, right ? :) not every battery packs got that smart BMS with data cables so you cant just exchange the original battery to another one without that data cables. :P
Yes, smart BMS has some disadvantages)
Do you ship rita to qatar?? I already have external battery. Thanks
I am planning to install this to my M365 Pro. But do i have to flash the software of my scooter? Because i noticed that your m365 runs 30km/h which is supposed to be about 25kph only. If i am to install your rita and 12s battery, do i need to flash the software or should i just install everything directly? Thanks! Nice video by the way. Very informative.
Hi!
Please, watch this second video about detailed installing process, and then everything will be clear for you: ruclips.net/video/BnB3ko-VTA4/видео.html
Denis Yurev yes. I understood now. Thanks! Im just waiting for your products to be available and i’ll be ordering mine. With regards to flashing the software of my m365 PRO, i can just change everything that i want, is that right? The only thing that is important is the battery voltage limit?
@@philiproman9599 Yes, battery voltage limit is only one option you must change for 12s using. You also free to change all other options, but be careful =)
Do you ship to the United States?
Yes, I can ship Rita and mounted bag to the US, but I am not able to ship batteries overseas.
@@DenisYurev Hi Denis, I'm so confuse with charging my external 12s battery and my internal battery. How do I know my 12s is fully charged when I charge it with 50.4 V battery charger? On the m365 tool app, it indicates 100%, voltage 41.50V. How do I know the 12s battery is fully charged? Thanks
@@Socalshortybulls Hi! You are right, the scooter does not properly indicate the external battery charging state. But there is a solution: please take a look on the charger's LED. It is usually red during charging and green in idle state. So, if you see the charger in idle state, it means the battery is fully charged already. Otherwise - it is still charging.
@@DenisYurev Thank you! I will observe the light.
Is it on amazon
wow im stunned , did you create RiTA?? u a genius
im gonna buy one in your website, by any chance you have a discount code ? heheh
thanks in advance
u the best
Hi! Thank you. Unfortunately I don't provide any discount codes at this moment)
Wow
You really know your stuff! Bravo and thanks for the lesson! Very good video
I am new to scooter. I want to buy one “all round “ for my family… maybe from xiaomi..? Do you recommend one that maybe in the future I can upgrade?
Since I’m Sweden we are restricted to 25kmph I would like to be able to limit the speed.
Hi! Thanks, I would say Xiaomi PRO2 is the best choice in 2021.
Hi my friend! Thank you for you effort! Please help me to clarify a doubt, I have a ninebot es4 with 2 36v original batteries, can I plug a 3rd 36v battery? Is there anything else tha has to be done? I'll appreciate your help!
Hey, nice work.
Can you help me with my question?
The internal battery is protected by the BMS.
Has Rita some kind of fuse or overcurrent protection for the external battery?
I am planing to buy the complete kit with the standard voltage batteries for the Xiaomi Mi Pro 2.
Hi! Rita has internal 2*20A fuses at each power input.
