    In 2017 DJI released its new CrystalSky monitors, which are touch pads designed specifically to be used as view screens for DJI drones. The key selling point for CrystalSky monitor is that they are brighter than phones or tablets so you’re supposed to be able to use them outdoors without a sunshield or sun hood.
    This video, Part 2, provides my review of the CrystalSky 1000 nit 5.5" monitor - is the CrystalSky monitor good enough to keep, or will I dump it on eBay? The answer may surprise you - watch this video to find out.

    Nice review Jeff. I've had no major issues with my Phantom 4 Pro Plus Controller with the integrated screen so I'm guessing you should have no issues as well. One bonus of the Crystal Sky I just realized from your video is that you can swap it out between different drones. So if you have a Mavic Pro and Phantom 4 Pro, as long as you have the arm brackets in place on those controllers, you could then use the one monitor between them (as you can only fly one drone at a time), and have the benefit of also swapping out the battery if necessary.

      That is a good feature, one I probably should have emphasized more. I use mine with the P4 Pro and I'm working on arranging for an Inspire 2 - and I'll use it there too.
      Does the P4P+ have the same 1000 nits screen as the CrystalSky?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798 7 лет назад

      Correct. It has the same nits and many other features... but those other features are divided between the screen and the controller which is why the screen on the P4P+ is as thin as a cell phone (i.e., the HDMI, USB/Micro ports, battery, speaker and other items are in the controller). I think DJI was preparing to role out the Crystal Sky monitors much earlier than they did but got hung up on something. Because honestly, if DJI had released the CrystalSky at the same time as the PLUS controller for the Phantom 4 Pro, it would have made more financial sense from a users point of view to buy the CrystalSky monitor instead because then you could use it with more than one drone and not have to buy a dedicated monitor for each drone DJI comes out with.

    Just wondering when DJI will fix all the problems with the CrystalSky??
    1- The Compass jerking and pointing to the wrong direction???
    2- The constant Warning about Radio Intereference???
    3- The multiple total app crashes out of the blue???
    EVERY CS owner on eithe 5.5" or 7.8" are having the same problems and WAITING for a FIX!!!!, I have a $600 paper weight at moment

    I think it is a bit of a coincidence that the screen glitching started on the new Go4 apps just before DJI was about to put the Crystal Sky out on the market , a ploy by DJI ? never would they do such a thing lol ;-)

      I have a P3P using the Go App 3 and I was having a lot of issues with broken or no video downlink from the aircraft to my home station. Since purchasing the CS, I haven't had any loss of video signal yet!

      Thanks! I really was impressed with the screen . . . I can't wait to get one of the bigger versions. My only concern about it will be its weight when mounted on the controller. We shall see!

      I love my cat shirts! I get those from a website called themountain.com . . . I think they have a sale on their cat colection today, so I may need to order a couple more.

    Many thanks for that. Your video helped a lot. Why they did not make the screen non-reflective beats me. At the price they are they should have. Would a non-reflective screen help?

    Great and honest review of the CrystalSky Monitor! I had been on the fence about purchasing this for my Mavic. After watching your video I feel good that I ordered one for myself. You mentioned the Spark, does that mean the CrystalSky can work for the Spark as well?

    • @JeffSibelius
      @JeffSibelius  7 лет назад

      Hi Emily - I'm glad you liked the review! Yes, the CrystalSky will work for the Spark. You may have to do a firmware update on the CrystalSky first, but it is supported.

      That's fantastic to hear that confirmed! Thank you for reply and I look forward to your review on the 7.5'' CrystalSky!

    hi, I have just got the cs 7inch monitor and today was my first trial of it as I too was hampered by not being able to see the screen. I found it perfect with bright early morning sunshine here in Liverpool it was for me worth the £600 I paid for it along with the bracket, it is so stable which was another worry for me. There is a lot more to the monitor than meets the eye, it doesn't even need the cable anymore as the usb c connects as you mount it! I can use it to search the internet for stuff and even watch vids outside in the sunshine on youtube!Now all I need is to find a video with in depth instructions on the available things you can do, and how to do them with this superb, but overpriced monitor, but as with most things it will come down in price eventually, thanks for sharing your vids.

      It is very expensive and as far as I know, it's limited on what you can do with it outside of flying your drone. But you can't beat its visibility!

    I've been using the iPad Air 2 since my Phantom 3 Pro and it still works great with my new P4P, but of course, it's not as the CS monitor so that is why I just order one. LOL

    Ok so I read somewere that if you do NOT have the bracket you can power the screen from the controller of my my P4P - it will NOT charge the external battery but does it power the screen until I obtain the bracket? I.E placing it on the current bracket like one would a phone or tablet.

    • @JeffSibelius
      @JeffSibelius  6 лет назад

      I don't know if the controller will power the CS monitor or not but I don't understand why using the bracket would make any difference one way or the other? The CS will continue to operate for awhile after the external battery expires to give you time to land the aircraft or swap out the CS battery, but I don' t know if the CS will draw power from the controller or not.

    To heavy, to expensive, no cord, no bracket & you didn't mention how long the battery life is, beware of planed obsolescence.

    • @JeffSibelius
      @JeffSibelius  5 лет назад

      I can't argue the price is high, but it doesn't need a cord. The battery life is actually very good.
      Planned obsolescence? Look at the DJI Go 4 app if you want an example of that LOL
