Chris Isaac is not considered a "Country" singer, at all.
This song definitely has a country feel to it. The guitars and his breaking voice connotes that genre. He sings in different styles.

Chris Isaak is in the Rockabilly (rock and texas country fusion) genre of Roy Orbison and all...and it most definitely is a love song

This is like correcting someone because they misspelled a word even though it’s obvious what the word is. It’s not country music but his music has definite country influences that’s not even debatable. Not everyone is hyper pedantic about musical classification.

She's incorrectly thinking the *surf guitar* style in this specific song is 'country' because she probably mistakes that sound with a slide guitar, which is more prevalent in American country music. I went to the same high school as Chris Issac (AA Stagg high, Stockton, CA.) in 1974. He always had his guitar case with him. He would play at lunch on the senior glade surrounded by girls, girls, girls. Later in the 1980's, my wife and I would go see him at New George's in San Rafael, CA. The video was played ad nauseum(at the time[3-4 times per hour])on VH-1(for those of you too young to know, MTV used to play music videos 24 hrs. a day: VH-1 was owned by Mtv and played music videos for people 25 and up. Baby did a bad bad thing is one of his very best songs. The album he did called Blue is really nice. Dear Miss Olivia would you please do nothing compares to you by Chris Cornell and at the same acoustic sessions nearly forgot my broken heart. Chris Cornell will make you cry in a good way. You mentored that country singers do the best love songs. If you've never heard it, you should try Lady by Kenny Rogers. The most heartfelt love song ever. It was written and produced by Lionel Ritchie, one of my all time favorites. He recorded some amazing love songs too, but he wasn't country. Enjoy.!
