this song is a hilarious memory for me - when I was a teenager in the midwest, it was popular on radio -- and I recall riding in the car with my (evil-but that's another story) stepdad - who was outraged when this song came on the radio -- he would say "that's foul language - I know what they're REALLY saying..." and we tried to explain to him -- "No, Dad -- FUNKY is a real word" -- but he just wasn't havin' it... lol

  • @rayharley597

If you haven't already you should check out some of Helen Reddy's sings, particularly (and I am biased here) Angie Baby & I Am Woman; she had a number of hits in the seventies, but those two had a major impact on my psyche when I was a teenager. She passed away relatively recently and the musical world mourned one of the greats when she did. As far as this track goes I used to go to a rockclub when I still lived down in Devon and a group of us would sometimes get up on stage and start trying to do the can-can to some tracks; this being a favourite. Happy days, kerk.
