I like V.U., but it took me until MFANS to love Cale. Took me another twenty years to see him live for the first time: 2005, "Black Acetate" tour. I wasn't expecting this: Cale opening with "Venus in Furs" playing the electric viola. Blew me.
I was there. I’m a huge fan of Mr. Cale. Before the show, for 7 months, I’ve been sending messages to Cale to come to play to Buenos Aires from different Facebook accounts. I think I definitely influenced this show: his one and only in Buenos Aires. Such a deep and magic moment
my impression is that both he and lou got more than enough credit for the music. all the members were crucial to the band, though, and these incredible records probably would have never existed without andy warhol.
@@Alan649 agreed. A band is a band, not a solo act. Each member is as critical as the other. It's sad most people don't understand that and see it as some sort of competition
Yes, there was tension and disagreement between Cale & Reed. Yes, Cale did not receive the credit he was due. Yes, Reed was a my-way or the highway kind of guy. But the disharmony, fighting, and disagreement acted to make them create more and better stuff together than did separately. Some of their best stuff came from their tense and unhappy collaborations. Overall disharmony produces more than harmony does.
Shocking then and shocking now. But hey, it's just part of the human condition. That's the point as far as I'm concerned. Don't judge lest thee be judged. Great song and great album.
This is the You Tube Cube With Teeth and hello John heh heh heh Rose Garden ? Been in the Desert The Gun Desert Mineral of Sores Gun Desert (?) Mineral of Sores
His acoustic version of this song is like a medieval folk song needless to say ingenious
True !
Exactly what I thought
Yes absolutely, Cale in very talented as a musician.
yes i was noticing that with the Paz Lenchantin version... it sounds like eastern european ancient folk
just as demented and pounding as it was in 1967
Excellent way to describe the beat, I totally agree. Demented and pounding.
1966

Cale owns this song! He created the Velvets sound but was never credited for that due to Lou Reed.
Always gotta be Lou's way when he's around

created the sound? please
Not one single band member "created" the sound. They were both vital, as were Moe and Sterling.

Sterling said Reed took more songwriting credit than he deserved !
Reed wrote it.
素晴らしいです。

It's very moving, considering there's only Moe and him left.

Yule is still alive as well, but of course not from the Venus in Furs era

It is irish, great❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
No, John Cale was born and brought up in Wales and the music influence sounds quite Eastern European in origin.
💜

Paz Lenchantin & the algorithm brought me here
Same man! And i'm so thankful for it.
Can anyone tell what pedal effects the violin is running through?
Not specifically but it is definitely an overdrive or gain pedal of some sort
This is the You Tube Cube With Teeth and hello John heh heh heh Rose Garden ? Been in the Desert The Gun Desert Mineral of Sores Gun Desert (?) Mineral of Sores
The viola was the best part pf this songzita missing here in the performance
Versi striscianti che assecondano il bisogno dell ' istinto sadico
Cannot hear his violin here, it sucks!!!
Did you turn up your sound/ hearing aid?
It's a viola.
wdym, it's that noise that's playing through the amps the entire song.
