First test I took and failed was mostly on sterilization, the second test I took was mostly on decon. So go over all of your notes and watch his videos over and over

I'm in the clinical stages of Sterile Processing...this after a 15 yr career in Corp America and a total of 25 yrs working in a field not nearly related to the medical field let alone SP...you can do it! I'm 49 by the way.

Your videos are absolutely fantastic! In the NHS, Sterile Service Departments are often overlooked by the general public and even other hospital departments despite the vital service they provide. Do you encounter similar attitudes in the US?
It has been a struggle here in the colonies :) the sterile processing departments have been, historically speaking, the hospital's punching bags. However, in the last few years the situation is changing for the better. I'm hoping for much better outcomes in the near future.
I have a curious question about when getting sick while being employed as SPT. If it's an illness such as the common cold, not something too terribly contagious, could you trade shifts with someone to work on the dirty side? Or would they still want you to be absent? have been wondering what policy's are when sick in this profession.
there's more than one way of looking at this. :) a) if you are concerned with being a susceptible host while sick, the last place you want to be is decontamination. From that stand point call in sick but well enough in advance, have a good relationship with coworkers that will step in for you and you for them. b) if you are not too sick you can wear a mask in the rest of the department and of course, defer to the department policy.

Gaby Sierra and both areas have the same temperature, but differ in humidity. Sterile area is 68-73 degrees and 35-60% humidity and for prep and pack is 68-73 degrees and ideally is 50% but not less than 35%. is this correct

I wouldn't! Having said that, it is better than most municipal systems. One other thing you can do, is to Google water quality by ZIP code and the EPA will provide you with a list all things in the water with in that particular zip code very accurate.

You and I may differ in our opinions as to what is reasonable for use for drinking, one should understand that dissolved solids in the water interfere with cleaning instruments and may impede the process of sterilization. www.nyc.gov/html/dep/html/drinking_water/wsstate.shtml this is a link to the official NYC water report and it lists in detail all the parameters of NYC water. On a personal note, I spend a fair amount of time in NYC and can tell you that many restaurants in NYC filter their water before serving to clients because a variety of tiny crustaceans have been found in the water. I ask, cuz im planing to move to another state and I would like to find a job in the field so I start getting familiar with everything

It may be challenging but it all depends on the job market in your area and the laws which are being enacted in each state individually. What you need is a good resume and a good interview presentation. You my have a shot. It is worth a try.
