    Thank you very much for these videos! When I got my exam books they were so daunting to read, it's so much more informative to listen from these classes. I got an email to say I passed my course with a fair 83%. Before I found these classes I had failed the first time with 64% only having the books and the pass rate being 70% so I thank you for taking the time to put these up for people who learn better by seeing and hearing the information in classroom environment :)

    Thank you again for reading my comment . For five years I work as a nursing assistant and I did EKG and Phlebotomy as a Patient care technician. Now I'm doing nursing assistant in a nursing home and decided to upgrade myself into something meaningful and challenging like central sterile technician. I believe it was time to change and learn new skills. This is what I'm doing now. How do I show this at an interview and not get intimidate by the experience they looking for

    • @BostonCareerInstitute
      @BostonCareerInstitute  8 лет назад +11

      That is absolutely perfect. Remember, you bring a world of direct patient care experience into the area where patient care is indirect yet vital. You are coming in with the Patient First mentality geared towards reducing hospital borne infections and reduce mortality. This is exactly what sterile processing is about! Tell them how much you love helping people, tell them how much you love technology and that surgery fascinates you. Explain to them how you took care of people with postoperative infections and how you want to play a role in preventing unnecessary pain and suffering through doing great work in sterile processing. :)

    Just one small nitpick: a cell wall is a rigid structure surrounding a cell membrane. It is a characteristic of plants, fungi and some procaryotes (bacteria like cells). When you are talking about cell wall in the video you actually mean cell membrane.

      +Xeph Illustrations good luck on the test. Don't be nervous and read the questions carefully. if you see a question and you don't recognize it, close your eyes, take a few breaths, relax and come back to it. Don't spaz and stay clam. You will make it! You can mark the question and come back to it in the end :) It's not that difficult, a little confusing but not if you take the time to read the questions carefully.

    These are very helpful. Thank you very much for uploading these! I'm not sure if you are the instructor in the video but I'm using this as self-study guide at home using a Roku connected to my TV in my bedroom - which has RUclips built in while I take notes. It's like my own personal classroom! I'm trying to watch these videos in order but unfortunately the way RUclips uploads videos is that it puts the newest video first. I see this is a compilation of Central Sterile Processing instructional videos but I wanted to know the order for this particular instructor series. Just taking a guess, I would think that the next one to watch would be cpd and basics of cleaning but not positive. Trying to keep a notebook /study guide.Thanks!

      CeeStyleDj thank you for watching. Did you.purchase a book from iahcsmm? If you did not, you should. Then, the order of the lectures will make perfect sense. The book is also helpful for the language of the test. Let me know and good luck.

    • @CeeStyleDj
      @CeeStyleDj 6 лет назад

      Boston Career Institute (BCI Inc.) - Brookline I do plan to order a book from them soon! However, I think the order is not right due to the way RUclips displays videos. For instance, the newest video is going to be displayed first since it was the last upload. I guess I will try to figure it out but as long as I watch all the videos in the series, I should have it covered. (Along with the 8th edition of the book).

    What is the most current book to learn about sterile processing, and can you get certified without having to go through a school program or on-the-job training?

    • @BostonCareerInstitute
      @BostonCareerInstitute  6 месяцев назад

      If you're planning to be certified with HSPA, then the most current version of the book is volume 9 CRCST manual. Not going through school is a possibility only if you are able to get a job in a department. On your own, you will not be able to secure an internship in a hospital department. You do need 400 hours of department training for permanent certification.

      @@nyataylor7252 in general videos explain the book in plain English. Everything that makes it onto the board is essential and has to be written down and reviewed. Make sure you buy the work book together with the book.

    A Steve can you tell me the difference between the 7th edition and 8th Edition book??

    • @BostonCareerInstitute
      @BostonCareerInstitute  6 лет назад

      wilson fisk yes. A slight variation on the language used and a minor change in chapter layout and titles. If you are planning to take the test buy the new book and read it. Otherwise, the content is pretty much identical on the grand scheme of things.
