@@BostonCareerInstitute sounds great because Plasma RF generators intended for industrial applications and scientific operates at 13,56Mhz and cost a lot of money. The lower the frequency , the lower the cost. By the way, which public the curses are intended to? accept foreign applications?
Hi thanks for the video. It isn't mentioned the alternative low temperature immersion in paracetic acid. Can you explain the reason you didn't discuss in class? is not relevant among US hospitals? what about in Europe? Moreover can you suggest a source about official guidelines and other regulations on that topic? Thanks in advance Pietro
Unipa88 dear Pietro, thanks for watching. Peracetic acid is used primarily as a high level disinfectant in the US and not a sterilant. That is why it wasn't mentioned in the class. In the US all matters pertaining to sterilization are deferred to AAMI and all other content is distilled from their regulations. Instrument manufacturers also provide guidelines for specific instructions for use and care. I follow iahcsmm content from their crcst manual. Hope this helps. All the best. Steve
Thanks Steve.. For endoscopes (thermal sensitive instruments) I found out also LTSF (steam formaldehyde) method: temperature 60c, 30 min and 2% formaldehyde concentration; I have the feeling that there are many other methods available around. Do you have any suggestion on where to read about all of them? Thanks, Pietro
Well, Formaldehyde is also a disinfectant, though in higher concentrations it may be considered a sterilant. Unfortunately, due to its toxic residue it is not very popular. Thanks again for watching and asking great questions. Steve
Thank you sir,you make it fun and easy to learn and I like your French :). I wish i had watch your video lectures long enough to pass my exam :(. I live in Europe and I cannot find the study books in English. Where can I buy the study books in English ? Help please. Thanks:) have a blessed week.
Based off of your videos, I have enrolled in school yesterday and I start in May. I've been watching your videos to get a head start. Although we may not use the same textbook, can you please let me know which one you are referring to? I appreciate all of your videos. Thank you so much.
Tre Naise certainly, I use the iahcsmm crcst manual / boxed set as they call it. having said that, I teach based on topics and not the book. wishing you all the very best.
Congratulations 🎉 I was wondering if these videos would help with the new edition of the book. I’m studying for my exam now and I am taking notes from these videos.
Great, make sure you get the HSPA CRCST 9th edition and workbook from their website. They also publish a guide to what's on the test. Keep watching the videos, read the book to understand all words they use. Don't try to memorize the book, just understand the language. There is no trick or a short cut, work and time must be invested by you.
Hello!!! Your videos are awesome!! However, I have been a Surgical Technologist for over 9 years now. I just was just recently hired to teach Surgical Technology to High School students. However, as we both know, that requires an Associates Degree. So upon completion of my program my students will sit for the CBSPD exam. This makes me very nervous!! My only experience with SPD is calling down/running in to grab a tray of instruments for a case. I have been studying my tail off to be very honest with you. I want my students to be successful. Your videos are awesome and I am a huge fan. I share your videos in class in addition to my own lecture at times and I will provide guided notes to go with your videos. Hope you don not mind. I am typing all of this to simply ask for advice, advice and more advice!! Does your videos work for the CBSPD exam as well? I understand I may be a little late. But I am late in discovering your RUclips channel. I have 11 students scheduled to take the exam May 3rd. I feel like I have prepared them well, but I think I am more nervous than them.....ok I'm done now. LOL
Danyell Terry thank and please feel free to use the material. the lectures are more geared to iahcsmm however, the information is more or less standard. feel free to reach out any time.
Hi I need advice on how to pass the state board. I took it 2times and didn't pass it. I really don't know what I did wrong. So please I need some good advice on how to pass the exam the 3rd time.
I'd like to watch these in order. Are they ordered somehow. Tried youtube sorting by upload date order, but still didn't line up as my IAHCSMM book chapters line up. Numbering in order would be helpful.
Hi, I work as an SSD Technician in the Uk at my local NHS hospital. We have a medium size Sterrad Unit primarily for Robotic & Laparoscopic Scopes. Our standard cycle time is around 55 minutes, and a longer cycle of 1 hour 30 minutes. You say the normal cycle time for Gas/Plasma sterilisation is 2 hours, is this dependent on the type of machine being used or is due to differing regulations between the UK & US ?
Greetings and salutations from across the Atlantic. I will have to revisit the video but I don't think I was referring to gas plasma cycle being that long. Our cycles are similar in length to what you describe.
If you really want to get certified there is nothing hard about it. What you have to do if you do want to get certified is learn and learn with vigor and excitement. Surround yourself with learning and positive people who will encourage you.
It is very interesting talk. I wish to know that is there any plasma present in the containers wrapped in Tyvek after zapping RF? Or it is only outside the packaging material? Is it that all the bacteria / virus break down and get out in the form of gas? can you please answer me these questions? Thanks in advance.
***** Thanks for so quick reply. When RF is applied whether there will be plasma inside the Tyvek packets also other than in the main chamber? That was my question. So when the tools are packaged in Tyvek packets, the plasma is produced in the packages as well! If so, the byproducts of reaction of H2O2 with microorganisam would take very long time to diffuse out since the pumping through micro / nanopores of tyvek will be too poor. So there is significant chance of contaminents remaining inside the packages!. Am I right? SOrry for naive question.
***** Thanks Steve. I was wondering about this plasma inside the packages. Generally pressure inside the package remains high as the pumping speed in package is very low and hence there are chances that there may not be plasma. In you other video you were showing biological indicator. That is sealed in a vial / bottle. how H2O2 will enter inside the vial to sterilize the spores inside the bottle? or is it also made of Tyvek? I have been working on plasma for last several years. I shall carryout this experiment in the lab. I shall seek your help when ever i have doubts. thanks once again.
***** Thanks once again. It may not be good idea to discuss here which is public and others may not be interested in our discussion. Can I mail you to personal email id if you agree? Another question I have. After deep draw vacuum stage, next stage is the injection of Hydrogen peroxide. After the injection, is it that the vacuum pumping is stopped ? or continuous flow of H2O2 is maintained and pumps are made to operate continuously pumping our h2o2 vapor? Or the cahmber is filled - pumps are put off - the same voluem of h2o2 vapor turns into plasma and then pumps are started to draw out the reactants? Thanks for your patients and quick response in replying to all my questions. regards
CHL ... Yeah, I hear you. The best advice I can give you is not to get discouraged! You gain absolutely nothing from that, think positively instead and refocus your efforts. Go over the book concentrating on the shaded areas of each chapter. Read the chapters into your phone and listen to yourself reading the chapters every chance you get. Don't watch TV and focus on learning. Teach your friends the stuff you read from the book. Think positively and you will pass next time or the time after that. You got nothing to lose and everything to gain. Go forth, you have my blessings :)
Hey there Steve I failed my test the first time !! I co worker referred me to your videos ! They are very specific ! Now I have a question - how much time do you think the average person should spend studying this material before going back to retake the test ? I am able to retest after six weeks 🤷🏾♀️
Everything depends on you and how much time you devote to your studies. If you concentrate on the material, take careful notes from the videos and read the book, 3 weeks is a good time. No movies, no TV no music, just sterile processing all the time for 3 weeks or until the test.

hi steve! im new to the cssd and i found it interesting. Your videos are great help! havent watch them all but will sure do
Thank you for your video they very helpful,
I take the class and my exam is 19 this month, wish me luck.
You will do great. Wishing you much success
Good luck it's well just believes
I was literally cracking up at the end😂😂😂. Sniffing my way through .
It's all true!!
Did you cover all chapters in the book? I’m not seeing chapters 16-24 and your lectures really do help me to understand. I’m struggling
very good, thanks. A question, which frequency plasma H2O2 operates on?
I don't know why you need this but they operate between 49-54 KHz.
@@BostonCareerInstitute sounds great because Plasma RF generators intended for industrial applications and scientific operates at 13,56Mhz and cost a lot of money. The lower the frequency , the lower the cost. By the way, which public the curses are intended to? accept foreign applications?
@@fercarcas this is for hospital central service / sterilization technicians. Right now we do not accept foreign applications.
Thanks for the video really helpful 🙏
@@Gi1999m you are very welcome
Hi thanks for the video.
It isn't mentioned the alternative low temperature immersion in paracetic acid. Can you explain the reason you didn't discuss in class? is not relevant among US hospitals? what about in Europe?
Moreover can you suggest a source about official guidelines and other regulations on that topic?
Thanks in advance
Pietro
Thanks,
Pietro
Well, Formaldehyde is also a disinfectant, though in higher concentrations it may be considered a sterilant. Unfortunately, due to its toxic residue it is not very popular. Thanks again for watching and asking great questions. Steve
Plzz make video on ...dry heat sterilisation n flash sterilisation
I'm interested in becoming sterile processing technology. Thank you very much.
Great, glad to help.
Planning to take exam on February 2024. This videos help me a lots to understand about sterilization.
Hoping to pass the exam.thank you ..
Awesome. Wishing you much success. Let us know how you do.
How'd you do on your exam? I'm taking mine in May.

How does h2o2 safe to use for patients? I’m learning a lot watching your video, thanks
H2O2 is hydrogen peroxide. It is non toxic and does not leave a residue on the instruments. In reality it's water with one extra oxygen attached.
@@BostonCareerInstitute Thank you, thank you.

Hello. Dr. Steve, I would like to ask if it is possible to use ozone gas for cellulosic materials or not?

Thank you. I will check it out. Bless you. :)

I just started self studying any tips you can give me or a practice test or what chapters I should focus on the most I watch your videos everyday
Thank you

Hi I need advice on how to pass the state board. I took it 2times and didn't pass it. I really don't know what I did wrong. So please I need some good advice on how to pass the exam the 3rd time.
Awwwww it's well. Just read n watch more videos. And do more practice online tests. Gud luck
a question , how to make a humidity filter between the chamber and rotary motor , its hard because of the vacuum conditions
I'd like to watch these in order. Are they ordered somehow. Tried youtube sorting by upload date order, but still didn't line up as my IAHCSMM book chapters line up. Numbering in order would be helpful.
What if H2O2 is use to sterilize some plastic materials in a microwave oven?
Have you made a video yet on how to pass a JACO inspection in sterile processing department?
Hahaha. No not yet. But I did it :)
What's the hardest part about getting certified?
If you really want to get certified there is nothing hard about it. What you have to do if you do want to get certified is learn and learn with vigor and excitement. Surround yourself with learning and positive people who will encourage you.
I have to relearn all this to get re-certified
antwon Williams just watch the videos :)
*****
Thanks for so quick reply.
Thanks for your patients and quick response in replying to all my questions.
regards
I wish I had all my instructors and professors of college like this!
Thank you doctor very much 🙏❤️❤️ i love you 💗
Steve can you give some information about CHL class. I failed the test now I am so frustrated.
@@BostonCareerInstitute thank you so much !!!! My co worker said the same thing; eat, drink, and sleep SP !!! Well- I will update you on the results !!! Thanks for the material it is very helpful !
