Yeah, lol I live in a small enough town that challengers are even considered exotic. like even the cops think they are cool because the production challenger even with a v6 has more horsepower and torque than the cop cars by about 50 hp. so they are easily impressed lol.

Finally, another viper owner helping debunk the myths about vipers. I have an 01 ACR and they really are great cars that are reliable and easy to work on. I’ve been trying to enlighten car enthusiasts on my channel about Vipers.
Not going to argue that, all cars have issues. But overall for such a high-performance car it has relatively low maintenance cost compared to European and Japanese car in its class. Some years had issues with head gaskets, radiators, fuel tanks, but most of the problems were relatively minor and could be fixed in your garage if you were decently mechanically inclined. On top of that most of the parts are cheap and easy to get being that it was sort of a parts bin car.
Most of the myths about Vipers come from video games, where rear drive high powered cars are nearly impossible to drive due to gamepad physics. Most of the people who say those things have never actually driven a high powered rear drive car in real life, or even any real car in real life, let alone a Viper. The rest of the myths come from professional reviewers, who hold every car to an impossible standard. Caveat: I have never driven a Viper.
I grew up with my grandfather owning a 94 viper RT/10. What an awesome car to drive around. You could not drive 2 miles down the road without someone stopping to stare at it in awe. I believe most of the reason I’m into cars today is because of that car.
The crash sucks, but pretty much everything else about that story is awesome--your future wife telling you you should buy it back, getting some therapy by working on it. I feel the same way about mine more and more
I was driving a blue white and neon yellow taxi coming back from a fare. It was a 4 lane road and there was a little red ricer in front of me about 6 car lengths on my left. We were coming to an intersection where it was a court of apartment buildings on one side and a plaza on the other with a plaza entrance on the right from my perspective. As the little red car goes through the intersection a little blue car turns right in front of me. Same thing, I seen it coming and knew we were going to hit. I cranked the wheel as hard as I could and tried to swing the ass a little so the front might just make it by but i knew it was a long shot. No dice. I took the whole front end off her car. I almost made it as evidenced by the fact that it drove any of the quarter panel that wasn't embedded in the tire into my door jam. I went up the curb and the car came to a stop less than a foot from a cement light post. I tried unsuccessfully to open the driver door and was so mad that when it didn't open I kicked the door hard enough to bend it open so I could get out. I walked onto the road and I have no idea what my face looked but I screamed at her, "what the (expletive) were you doing!" With the most terrified look I've ever seen from another driver she replied, "I didn't see you." With disbelief I looked at my wrecked rolling advertisement and then back at her and screamed back, "They can see me from space!"
Not just that, if your in a charger, challenger, camero or if u are a young male, it is automatically your fault because you were “doing something wrong” no matter what, hence the reason I bought a dash camera.

While I'm NOT a Viper fan, I had to give this video thumbs up. Firstly because it's great to see a fellow Ohioan and second because I know EXACTLY the spot where he had his wreck. Even in the middle of the night, Sawmill Road can be an extremely dangerous spot.During the day everyone drives like it's demolition derby and at night, everybody thinks it's an escape route after blasting on Columbus's version of the Autobahn, Rt.315 and I-270.
TheTwitterpatedlove I have shaved my head twice a week for the past 19 years now, because the combing is not fooling anyone. And who gives a shit about someone else's hairline?
Great story Casey. I'm a life-long resident of the Columbus vicinity myself, and I've always said central Ohio has a very underrated car scene. Definitely not a city that comes to mind when most speak about the car enthusiast scene. You're a also a great story teller, very entertaining to listen to. I know the exact spot your wreck happened too.
@@eazywisdom5904 buh.... "Travis" is using a racial epithet to describe "Bill" and saying "fuck you" to him. Just thought you should know. Travis is a racist.
You totally have me wanting a Viper now!! That was my dream car when I was a kid. I remember the first time a saw one in Traverse City, MI in about 1991 or 92. I instantly fell in love with it.
You forgot the Maserati GranTurismo. The "other Doug," did a review video on one, and those panel gaps were so bad, he could fit a tube of toothpaste between them.
Who cares about panel gaps!!! Its got a 10g fiberglass hood! Its got a body that can burn you. IT WANTS TO KILL YOU... BUT YOU AINT GONNA DO IT TODAY FUCKER!!! Fuck the model 3 FUCK TESLA... A VIPER... is where its at!!
agreed, it isn't about the car it is about what the car represents. I'm sure there are women out there that actually do love cars but i have never met one. I haven't even met a woman that can tell me what car my Lotus Evora is, half time they dont even realise its a Lotus even though it has Lotus written on it.
Thanks for all the videos and stories I've been really sick and this helps me put my mind else where and I know nothing about cars, so you're doing something special.Thank you
I grew up loving those. A blue with white stripes viper used to drive by our football practice field everyday in 96-97. The whole team would stop and watch it go by lol
They're not hard to drive if you drive it like a grandma, obviously. But if you track the car and actually push it to its limits like it was made to do, then it's hard to drive.
@@GearheadDaily good for you and I truly mean that in an respectfull way. I have seen a couple of owners drive it on the track and really struggle with the car.
it' 8.0L 450hp, pretty understressed. i bet it will go a million miles if it is well maintained, the transmission might even die earlier but being a Tremec should make it easily replaceable.
Who else grew up absolutely idolizing the Gen.2 Viper? It's the perfect poster car for anyone born in the mid 90s. I'm 21, and I will own a silver and black striped GTS one day.
This is the second time I'm saying this thank you for making a post that is not a jealous talkingshit one because you couldn't have the car but you're actually telling how everybody feels instead of acting like a tough guy calling him a douchebag or whatever I just want to say that that's respectable individual move for you to do that I'm talking about you a hundred percent thank you man I like to see this still some people worth reading their comments in RUclips cuz 9099 out of 9000 million times out of let's say out of 10 post's are straight garbage this was something that I actually enjoyed
when i saw the Viper GTS pace car edition in a Road & Track magazine back in the 90s, the Viper became my most favorite car of all time. And that specific magazine issue had articles about Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches, but i fell in love with the Viper above all else.
I've seen this exact car on my way home from work every few weeks, and around town. Every time I see It I have to take a moment to just look at it. The viper is my all time favorite car and just looking at it makes any bad day better. It's cool knowing the history of that car now too. I never thought I'd know anything about it.
Great story, I'm glad you got her back. I was 7 when when the first Vipers came out, I totally freaked out over the Viper TV show, even tough it was somewhat corny, it still featured my dream car. I have about 200 Viper scale models. Sadly I am now 32 and the chances I'll ever own one seems slim, especially since I live in South Africa, and there is only a hand full around. Looking forward to more great videos.
I know what you mean. I have similar stories with my 1988 Olds 88. It was my first brand new car I ever bought. My wife and I and our three girls ages 12 to 8 spent two years in the Arctic (NWT) and when we came home in 1986, we lined things up where we bought this 1988 88. I thought of getting a personalized plate that read "AN8888" but thought, "What if it's a lemon?" I'd had one body job done to it and it looked like it had been dipped in the Dead Sea. Long story short!!! 19 years later, this owner of a one owner car drove it to the salvage yard. Somewhere, I have a photo of the mileage on it when the wreckers took possession of it. Remember, this was in a time when the big three didn't really make cars to last all that long. 704,500 kilometers. Around 437,000 miles. Not too bad for a North American built car by the Big Three. I cried!!
It’s the same with the classic muscle cars too, if someone else screws up the general public thinks it’s all your fault. Good to hear that you got your car back, I’d be absolutely devastated if my 64 Buick got in a wreck. Have fun out there and drive safe.😎👍
Wow that sucks major !! I have a Challenger SRT8 , older model but its my Dream Car . Will have it til the end . Few and far between are people who still love cars and see them as a thing of beauty … Good for you
Thats a bad ass story. I owned the exact color 97 Viper. Was my baby. One of the saddest days is watching it leave my driveway after I sold it. Im so happy you got yours back... Great story!
It's crazy I always skipped by you guys videos, and just happened to take a look at this one and one other now I cant take my eyes off. The stories are so intriguing.
Yep....driving around my suburb in a Krypton Green Turbo'd Lotus Exige....I can relate Bro. Lucky I'm now old enough to control my right foot ( most of the time ).
What a wonderfully supportive Fiance in that scenario. Understanding the sentimental value above the real digits on the line is a hard bar to pass. I love this viper and the story behind it.
This is a really cool story, thumbs up 100% :) That's a nice car too! When I was a sophomore, I used to print full-page photos of the Viper GTS, legit ride. Never been in one, just saw one sittin' at a dealership.
I nearly cried when I heard that the lady plowed into that gorgeous Viper... I'm so glad to hear that you're still driving the car and taking great care of it. This car was meant to be driven, I'm sure the car is just as happy to be in your hands as you are!
Completely empathize with you about having to deal with police and residents in rural small towns. I did much the same as you but with a 248hp rotary powered Fiat Dallas Replica. The residents in my rural community in Lancaster County Pennsylvania didn’t appreciate my car nearly as much as I did, neither did Baltimore cops, or Annapolis, and when I moved to DC I was warned weekly and ticketed at least once a month for some infraction. Why do we do this to our selves, oh that’s right... not all of us are meant to drive Honda Civics.
When your wife tells you, “Go buy that viper.” You know she’s a keeper 💯💯
Ben Rosen ya so that way the viper slithers away 🤣😂. 😯
I shed a tear when he said that!!

He'd look good with gold teeth driving that car playing mumble rap real loud. Maybe throw in a couple of face tattoos and some baby mama drama....
Seems like it turned into a Viperu GT-STI with the Blue with Gold...
The white wheels go with the car s ik nce it has a white stripe so it blends nicely compared to the gold. I like the white ones though

Even though I know your Viper (from videos) I did not know this story, glad it showed up!
This video could resurrect viper production
Bad things come to an end too
I won’t lie I shed a tear. Beautiful story
fuck you nigga
Fuck off Bill! I feels you Travis ✊🏽. This video was heart felt and awesome
Wtf?... why?
When??
@@eazywisdom5904 buh.... "Travis" is using a racial epithet to describe "Bill" and saying "fuck you" to him.
Just thought you should know.
Travis is a racist.
Med Otaku. Both theez guys are wrong but it’s whatever I only care about the video . I Love Vipers
Was half expecting to see Doug Demuro.
You totally have me wanting a Viper now!! That was my dream car when I was a kid. I remember the first time a saw one in Traverse City, MI in about 1991 or 92. I instantly fell in love with it.
"STUPID!" & "You can't keep a good man down, you can't keep a good car down."
I think this guy is my spirit animal.
Early Vipers are the only cars with worse panel gaps than the Tesla Model 3.
You forgot the Maserati GranTurismo. The "other Doug," did a review video on one, and those panel gaps were so bad, he could fit a tube of toothpaste between them.
At least the Viper has a real engine. Batteries are for toys. And starters...
Fiberglass though no dings!
And twenty years older, but who cares
Who cares about panel gaps!!!
Its got a 10g fiberglass hood!
Its got a body that can burn you.
IT WANTS TO KILL YOU...
BUT YOU AINT GONNA DO IT TODAY FUCKER!!!
Fuck the model 3
FUCK TESLA...
A VIPER... is where its at!!
GOOSE!!!!! Ladies love nice cars. Its a proven fact. Great Story!
Rob Pitts I'm sure you have many more stories about women to tell that we'd all like to hear with hopefully better endings than the bike
Hey Rob :)
There was just something about this Viper. It was the craziest thing.
not really true at all
agreed, it isn't about the car it is about what the car represents. I'm sure there are women out there that actually do love cars but i have never met one. I haven't even met a woman that can tell me what car my Lotus Evora is, half time they dont even realise its a Lotus even though it has Lotus written on it.
Thanks for all the videos and stories I've been really sick and this helps me put my mind else where and I know nothing about cars, so you're doing something special.Thank you
We hope you feel better fast!
@@VINwiki thank so you much! I wish you and everyone you know nothing but happiness health and success.
This guy can tell a story about the most mundane thing but his style makes it fascinating.
Good storyteller.
I grew up loving those. A blue with white stripes viper used to drive by our football practice field everyday in 96-97. The whole team would stop and watch it go by lol
I've had a Gen 2 Viper, I have no clue why people say they are hard to drive. Work just fine for me. Just don't drive like a moron.
They're not hard to drive if you drive it like a grandma, obviously. But if you track the car and actually push it to its limits like it was made to do, then it's hard to drive.
I disagree, i raced the piss out of mine and never crashed once.
Just because you're good doesn't mean it's not difficult.
@@GearheadDaily good for you and I truly mean that in an respectfull way. I have seen a couple of owners drive it on the track and really struggle with the car.
@Ace - I don't really consider myself that great of a driver, just more controlled with the throttle, brake and steering wheel.
World's first million-mile viper. I wanna see that.
it' 8.0L 450hp, pretty understressed. i bet it will go a million miles if it is well maintained, the transmission might even die earlier but being a Tremec should make it easily replaceable.
Bro. Nelson's Ledges is in Nelson Ohio. I lived 7 miles from that damn track. Loud as hell when they do the 24 hour SRT testing every year.
I love, loved, loved this story! And when his fiancé/wife said “That’s your car, it’s your baby.” That’s when he had my heart. Great story teller!
One of the better VinWikis! So many of us regret getting rid of significant cars in our lives.
Who else grew up absolutely idolizing the Gen.2 Viper? It's the perfect poster car for anyone born in the mid 90s. I'm 21, and I will own a silver and black striped GTS one day.
Born 1984 and had a Lamborghini Countach poster.
I wish I had that blue viper...my childhood OMG in the 90s I was obsessed when I saw one! 2018 I'll still drive that baby all over!
Aww a bond between a man and his car is something special
Ngl if i hopped in a viper playing thrash,
*id leave it on for ambiance*
What else would you listen to In a car with a reputation for wanting to kill the driver?!
MOPAR or no car. Bad ass Viper. You've got great taste!
Land Rover all day baby.
HUH, MOPAR? Never graduated the 60s, did you? Nobody uses that term anymore.
@@esteemedenergy, Mopar is still a thing.
GetoverYourself lol, I hear it all the time, from people from every facet of car culture.
Dude got big balls. I heard the old Gen viper is a handful.
First gen was supposed to be a pure track car. Didn't even have ac if I remember correctly.
Do a shot every time he says me in my 20s.
cdude100 my liver stopped working
He's a twat
cdude100 and when he says I’m a race car driver:!!
Don't forget every time he says "give me a break" although you can substitute a kit kat for a shot
Clearly this guy is nervous.
My Dad is bothered by my LS E30, so I guess I'm doing something right lol
I've seen this exact car on my way home from work every few weeks, and around town. Every time I see It I have to take a moment to just look at it. The viper is my all time favorite car and just looking at it makes any bad day better. It's cool knowing the history of that car now too. I never thought I'd know anything about it.
I like stories of people who actually DRIVE these cars and aren’t afraid of putting miles on them.
So this is the guy who got the reliable Viper! (Great story). I love the look of the Vipers but I like the everyday drivability of Corvettes more.
Love this channel. This was one of the top videos I have seen on VinWiki besides anything by Ed. Lol.
Love the "can't keep a good car down" theme. Have a similar sentiment with my first Civic (which isn't a Viper, by any means, but it's still mine)
Wow that sucks major !! I have a Challenger SRT8 , older model but its my Dream Car . Will have it til the end . Few and far between are people who still love cars and see them as a thing of beauty … Good for you
Both the car AND your fiancee are keepers 😉
Thats a bad ass story. I owned the exact color 97 Viper. Was my baby. One of the saddest days is watching it leave my driveway after I sold it. Im so happy you got yours back... Great story!
It's crazy I always skipped by you guys videos, and just happened to take a look at this one and one other now I cant take my eyes off. The stories are so intriguing.
Great story. You managed to tell it without sounding pretentious. On the contrary, sounded authentic.
I love that shape viper. The best looking one they ever made.
Yep....driving around my suburb in a Krypton Green Turbo'd Lotus Exige....I can relate Bro. Lucky I'm now old enough to control my right foot ( most of the time ).
Casey and Ed are probably the two best people on VINWiki
THAT IS ONE GREAT STORY MAN. HAPPY I WATCHED THE WHOLE VIDEO. NICE. ALWAYS REMEMBER, "KEEP MOVING FORWARD."
Dude is a good teller of stories. Very entertaining!!!
Like this guy, more stories from him!
Amazing how many people with cool stories you got there
They dont all work for vinwiki?
That was absolutely beautiful. So glad you still have it.
This guy needs to be on here more often, great story
My favorite car since 5th grade and forever will always be the viper and I'm 37 now.
Goood video Casey. Thanks Ed for providing a wonderful platform.
Holy moly, a 16 year old *MOTHER* ?
Welcome to America.
They've glorified it so it's the thing to do
Ethnic...
A girl from around here had a kid at 13 about 6 months ago.
Gobbersmack proof?
Oh damn did it again... If ya ain't first yer last!!
the end made me happy because he saved a piece of art (;
They are truly a blast to drive. The car is really raw and one of the last true analog super cars
Did anybody else notice the perfectly executed finger rage walk performed by Casey? Legend.
Ugh a Shitbox Versa wrecked a Viper, glad to see you were reunited.
Loved hearing about this Viper. Good car, great happy ending.
White wheels looked amazing on that Viper!!
That is the quintessential Viper for me. First gen, coupe, blue with white stripes, and those while wheels looked great. What a beauty.
