    So to summarize 10mins of video:
    -Knowingly sold lemons on EBay
    -Got dinged by negative feedback from sale of lemons
    -Created fake accounts to artificially inflate his own feedback rating
    -Scammed buyers by making fake bids with fake accounts
    -Got banned for life
    This guy is literally the reason why people are skeptical of buying off EBay

    Yep, proxy bidding on eBay or in a live auction is CORRUPT but, unfortunately like here, it happens all the time. I sold an Acura TL on eBay back in 2006 myself. In fact, I used to sell a LOT of stuff on eBay but like many here I quit after one buyer tried to screw me back in 2015 (I think) and eBay did everything they could to make it MY problem. I got PROOF from the delivery company that the item had been delivered and SIGNED for by someone at the address. The buyer claimed it was "stolen off his porch". eBay backed him but paypal verified the delivery and backed me. Never did business with eBay again after that

    This guy is a great salesman but this is why I'm not in car wholesaling anymore. Car dealers see nothing wrong with almost every immoral, unethical, or illegal tactic as long as they're making money. I literally sat at the auction one sale day and listened to two car dealers talk about how much profit they've made ripping off their own mothers on car deals.

      I'm no fan of salesmen of any kind - most don't have a clue about what they're selling which I consider a pretty fundamental requirement. But I have to say, buyers are often no better in terms of morality or honesty. There's apparently a saying in the car sales world - "Buyers are liars".

As it happens, he uses the same repair shop that I do, and takes the cars he buys at auction there, to find out what, if any, problems it has...then shows this info to prospective buyers.

      He is the wrong, but it's also true there are some realities of business that a strict and outdated 'feedback' system doesn't really do to protect those just trying to sell cars.
      "I bought this used for $8,000 less than I would have at a certified pre-owned dealership, runs great, but I don't like the fact one of the brake lights was out when I drove it away...1 Star, will never do business again"
      Kinda silly when you think about it. Doesn't justify necessarily what he did, but when you don't have a bunch of employees, and no brick and mortar location, and you're trying to make a living off a platform that does nothing to protect or promote you...sometimes you might have to fudge a few things to make a profit.

      Yep, I love a lot of the deals I've gotten on eBay, but most I know are afraid to use the platform still to this day because of how much fraud and scams have deflated the name of it. My father-in-law, for example, finds items he likes, makes a list, and then has me place the order for him, which is smart, that way I can check it out and make sure its legit, and I also know the rules a bit better. I mean really, eBay is now very muchso catered in the buyer's favor so I don't think the fear is really necessary, but there's always someone pulling off some scam on these platforms (even Amazon has been getting hit with tons of scam sellers lately).

I can tell you without a doubt car salesmen /car sales is one of the most corrupt deceitful people and dealers on the planet. IDK why but it seems to be a common practice. It is shameful and you have to sell your soul to be a part of it or get out. I did honest work in the service dept. and never had to rip off customers to be successful. I like buying on Ebay, I totally support their actions. I cannot tolerate scammers that inflate biddings or feedback. I'm sorry you had to read a 605 pages book to work it out. I learned the pitfall right away, thus I have reported every single scammer I find and I'm proud of it. Next time social responsibility pays better.

      It's not wrong to buy cars without looking at them. It's wrong to commit fraud in the selling of cars to absentees. Scammers like this are punished because they're scum who have shown that they aren't worthy to participate fully in society, not because the rest of us are jealous.

      Yes and No. If I see a car, bid, and it goes above what I want to pay...then I don't pay. If you keep bidding...your fault. Illegal? Yes, because you can create artificial demand.

    VINwiki can I suggest that you make playlists by the storyteller .. e.g if I am a new follower and want to watch All Ed's videos it would be easier to watch a play list rather than going through each video on the channel trying to find the ones u want to see .. so please sort the videos into play lists by the names of the story tellers. THanks

      lol, As a person with a trust fund, I can honestly say that does not apply to everyone. People born into a Trust Fund did not have a choice. And while obviously they could decline the money, no one would do that. The only reason to live on this earth is to have fun, and typically fun things can be bought with money. So instead of hating people for having the money to buy themselves fun things, you should work more to do the same thing, or buy a lottery ticket.

    I remember buying a phone off ebay. In the last few seconds, the seller (I suspect) jumped in with an alt account, ran the price up, and won the bid. But then he didn't pay, so I got an email informing me that the highest bidder didn't pay and asked if I wanted to buy for my most recent bid. The trouble here is my most recent bid was quite a bit higher than what I would have payed had not the price been run up. I ended up buying the phone for the higher price, but I feel cheated, so I haven't bought anything from ebay since.

    So Rob was the Sanford Wallace of shill bidding on eBay. I can't say I'm heartbroken that he got kicked off. I've seen plenty of shill bidding to illegitimately raise the price of an auction. A starting bid and reserve are tool to be used for a reason, even if they don't make you popular.

    • @EcnalKcin
      @EcnalKcin 7 лет назад +5

      The other trick I see that really pisses me off is when you are about to win an auction for next to nothing and the seller prematurely ends it because of a "listing error".

    • @timeWaster76
      @timeWaster76 7 лет назад +5

      As a long time seller what i find aggravating is it is not that hard for a half smart person to accomplish the same result without cheating... bragging about it just makes it that much worse. Start you item at the price you can let it go for... If no one wants it move on,simple... but the bragging ! That really piss me off. and the slack jaw morons the this it's cute... worse are the ones the take away is that eBay did something wrong ... how about opinion that the customers deserve to be ripped off.

    • @timeWaster76
      @timeWaster76 6 лет назад +1

      Sean Thompson. I might even have problems with the way eBay does some things but certainly in this guys case he would still be benefiting form eBay if he had not been cheating. The excuse that he diopesn't like the way eBay does business or everyone does it are BS Everyone signs up under the same rules... he did not hurt ebay directly he hurt the people going by the rules.
