ERA blocks do provide some kinetic protection. However only (Russian) tanks actually have it modeled, any other vehicle is 5mm equivelant. According to released French documents, the BRENUS ERA blocks provide about 100mm of kinetic protection. In game it's 5.
Another proof like hundreds of others that they make russian tanks better than they are AND even more important, they make the other tanks bad, because they wouldn't stand a chance...
@@SwissPatriot88 It's not even like this information is still classified, the BRENUS data can be confirmed by 3 different sources, an issue of Janes Armor, the French Military documents themselves, and the Greek AMX-30 trials. All sources that Gaijin has used before.
To be fair Kontakt ERA was specifically designed to stop kinetic rounds as well as chemical. It is true that all era still does something to kinetic, but kontakt does a lot more than most. Still should be modeled for everybody else though.

Use your speed and mobility to flank, "less" protection in the back and sides or enemy tanks. But when shooting at russian tanks in general expect a bounce or the tracks/sprocket eating the shot ect, so reverse as soon as you shoot and pray to RNG for the next shot.

A short while back Odd asked about whether the standard video or the narrative videos were preferred. I'd kinda like to see a little of both. Like, a narrative intro where he shows off the vehicle in narrative fashion "This, is the T-80BVM, a marvelous work of Russian war time destructive power with xxxxxx armor that's capable of yyyyyyyyy, a xxxxx main cannon that can penetrate yyyyyyy mm of armor, etc etc etc", while showing game footage of the armor or gun or whichever doing the thing that it does. T-72/80 series tanks have pure absolute bs damage model ever since they added bvm. Despite the fact irl carousel covers the entire tank frontally... or a sabot impact against a few hundred milimeters of armor would make the inside of the tank like a damn bee hive sharapnels jumping everywhere. IRL THE CAROUSEL HAS NO GAPS BETWEEN CHARGES IT IS LIKE A WALL EVERY PENETRATION HULL PEN ON T-80 SHOULD BE AN AMMORACK

@@user625FNDA Honestly, yes. ace crew and just in general crew skills are a blatant pay to win mechanic. yes you can technically get it by grinding, but reality is... it's often just pay to win. Because it takes hundreds upon hundreds of hours to get even just one crew to level 150, not even mentioning several. A premium tank can be powerful, but generally speaking they don't necessarily give any extreme OP benefits with a few notable exceptions. A high crew skill reduces your reload rate, increases how fast you turn your turret, how fast you repair, etc. It very actively makes every tank you have orders of magnitude better
One thing I've noticed personally and have seen around a little bit is specifically a lot of russian tanks seem to have issues stemming from volumetric shells where if the turret is moving, even hitting one of these things right in the ammo rack with a KE round doesn't do anything significant, if it even affects the ammo at all. This thing is just so fucking annoying to play against though and has been for such a long time.
Russian tanks in war thunder have anywhere between 10 to 25 percent more armor value than they actually should have, it isn't even being shown in the game. Proven several times by people who calculated the penetration values in game and c9mpared them to real life ballistic testings of russian armor. So basically all russian mbt's are about 15% more armored than they should be and you can't even see the numbers in game.

To answer your question about ERA, a lot of modern ERA is specifically being designed to be able to counter kinetic rounds as well. This includes Relikt ERA which is CLAIMED (hah) to cut the effectiveness of APFSDS rounds by about 50% or so? I'm not sure about the factuality behind that, but it makes sense for modern ERA to work against darts at least a bit. That being said the lack of internal spalling on the BVM is still silly.
Bag era isnt relikt it only works against heat. The "relikt side panels" are also completely different than the relikt bricks that you see on the front of the tank which do work against KE rounds. "Relikt side panels" only work against CE despite having the same relikt name as its brick counterpart. Also depends on the round but the general figure i ve seen is 40% which even with that bvms shitty ufp should not be able to stop dm53 out of the l55
I wouldnt be surprised if the claim about relikt ERA is true. Most tanks we have seen getting destroyed in the ukraine war are from top down attacks or artillery/missiles.
I've lost count of the times I've shot the ammo on Russian mbts with nothing happening, a lot of us say stuff like "Russian bias" as a joke but maybe it isn't really a joke. I also would love to see you take out the Type 10, this thing is fantastic and someone of your skill will surely make some great content with it!
Russian Bias is definently real. Data mining the game files literally shows multiple buffs for Soviet tanks. Not to mention Gaijin is literally a Russian company with connections to the Kremlin
Maybe becouse you mostly play against USSR, and only soviet tanks can be oneshoted in ammo, so everyone shots ammo and in case of nothing happend think "russian bias"? Try to play against Abrams, Leo's, Challangers in tank assault and shot their ammo from behind, it cant explode either
I've never been one to call something blatantly op in this game because in general everything you see has some way to effectively and reliabiliy kill it. The jumbo for example. Hit the mg port or the ufp seam and it's dead. But this is the only tank that has basically no weaknesses at all. Useable reverse, good forward gear/acceleration, good thermals, a .50 cal, good round, good reload, unbelievable spall mechanics, and absolutely ridiculous armor. The only thing that could kind of be said is the gun depression, but that's something Russia has dealt with just fine since the start. Bvm genuinely needs to be the first 11.3 tank.
Better would be if the Russian tanks in WT were actually modeled internally after real Russian tanks and not fantasy tanks made from pixie dust and dreams.
@@LeMeowAu the era is kinda ridiculous I think, I hit a bvm at about 30 meters. Side shot and the era are the whole ass round. It was silver bullet too. As for the spall liners, no it just doesn't spall when you hit the sides or lfp at all. You can test it in the protection analysis

Relikt ERA was designed to protect against kinetic rounds. It woks in a similar way to HEAT-FS rounds- it has multiple shaped charges going at an angle that upon impact are supposed to push away or even break APFSDS darts. It works really well, but NATO doesn't use that type of ERA bc it poses much greater risk to nearby infantry and is a lot heavier than regular ERA.
It's as if Gaijin has ramped up the bias in direct relation to how shittily Russian armor is currently performing in their "special military operation".
It's not just the vehicle is a bit off, Odd usually is playing against sheer morons. I usually get Patton or Wittman to fight against while Laurel and Hardy are on my team, with Abbot and Costello sitting in spawn talking about baseball.

It's supposed to be one of the best tanks in game since is one of the newest that entered service on the Russian military, this being on 2017, and kontact 5 era was designed to stop chemical rounds and severely reduce the penetration on Kinect rounds, but unfortunately that's only modeled on some tanks on WT
At 1:00 The ERA on the side of the BVM actually does have equivalent of 200mm of kinetic protection, because you only really hover your mouse over the first layer. The second layer is behind the first and looks more like the CONTACT-5 package on the 80U, so you have to actually find it behind the first layer to see it. The best way to see it is if you go into the Protection Analysis and hover your mouse over where the ERA is on the side of the hull, it offers far more protection than the base side of the tank.
No one will ever be able to tell me , after nearly 9 years of playing WT. That Russian tanks and Heli dont have different sets of damage taken and damage output numbers compared to other tanks and Helis.! lol
I've played since 2013 and while some of that is true, each nation has been OP for a time. I remember when they made tracer rounds OP on American .50 cals, I remember you only needed to scratch enemy aircraft and they were set on fire always instantly. Or I remember how Germans used to dominate tanks completely for a long while. So the bias isn't just for Russia.
@@AFT_05G Your mockery is wasted... Anyway, it doesn't change the fact that what this NPC above me stated is a simple myth originating from a lack of knowledge about ERA blocks and how they actually function or look like. Although feel free to try to prove the "egg carton" myth, I'm waiting. ;D
Remember when T-34 were bouncing rounds that were as much as 50degrees outside of the deflection window or that the KV-1 and 2 'Accidentally' had 100 extra mm of frontal protection that didn't appear in armor analysis, or that mid/late war Russian tanks were using ammunition developed in the 1990's... Yeah, WT definitely doesn't use their game to stroke national pride or ego at all, that's absurd to even suggest it.
ERA armor also provides effective disruption of tungsten penetrator rounds, not just shaped-charge rounds. But those two things are about the only thing they're designed for - shaped charge explosives and tungsten penetrator darts. The long skinny penetrator can be sheared in multiple places by the ERA which reduces the effective penetration depth accordingly.
The question is wether Gaijin will actually do anything about the tank being effectively immune to 95% of incoming fire? Which, if they would be objective, is purely post Gulf War level Abrams omnipotence wishful thinking considering the power of those weapons at War Thunder ranges. Or with they snail it and boost its repair cost to divert attention?
most russian sources use false/boosted information for the sake of propaganda, gaijin knows this and uses it as a scape goat to blame all criticism when people confront them about the russian tanks being op, they know what they're doing, they're conscious about it, they just hope we don't get fed up
When Russia gets its newest overpowered tank, so the external armour for Western tanks can stop like 15mm of KE and 200mm of HEAT while whatever is mounted on their next tank has an APS with 40 ammo that stops all projectiles.
The Type 10 is also not very well represented in game. The mantlet shouldn't be a weak spot and the LFP should have spaced armor. That still would be worse protection than everyone else though. That is because the main point of this tank is mobility. Compared to the Type 90 it should have better accelleration but Gaijin made it worse because "they don't know how much better". You'd assume they'd at least make it equal. And the autoloader can reload way faster but I'll just assume that is balancing. So no, the Type 10 isn't worse than other tanks of the time, it just focuses on other aspects. And Gaijin fucked those up in game...

If you look closely, behind the ERA on the sides is another layer of ERA. (They are like flat plates) These ERA packs is what stops the kenetic rounds. The egg cartons in the white bags only stop HEATFS.
If you want a non-meme explanation for the bags on the sides of Russian tanks: they're essentially easily attachable ERA panels which contain spacers (the plastic things you see in many photos of the bags). Yes they work, no the bags are not empty, some have been shown to have no spacers but still have the ERA panel. Pros: easy to attach and remove, adds additional protection with no modifications required Cons: easy to attach and remove also means easy to be knocked off or damaged. Combat and transport cause wear and tear that can either tear open the bags, or knock them off entirely.

The newer rounds like DM43/53 or M829a2/3/4 are made to negate any effect ERA has on the rounds to begin with. SO no they should not work anywhere as good as they do in game.
In reality, ERA on average decreases penetration of HEAT by 80% and APFSDS by 20%. Of course, there are variations, but on average, it is like this... However, tandem HEAT and other stuff can go around it and neutralize it.
Not sure if they simulate the composition of APFSDS rounds, but the abrams should have a bit of an edge over some other modern ones as they can use DU which is renowned for its ability to shrapnel and fuck people up.
my first ever game i got 6 kills stock, and never needed to repair. the bvm is a beast 💪 and the support it has from helicopters and the other tanks you can have in the lineup is quite unlike any other nation at the moment.

Speaking to the Soviet 'Relikt' ERA seen on this tank, it's specifically designed to reduce the penetration of kinetic rounds in addition to chemical rounds. When the explosive detonates, it forces two metal plates to move sideways as they're penetrated, forcing a kinetic round to have to cut through both the thickness of the plate as well as the length of it, reducing the overall penetration by the time the round reaches the tank's armor. Additionally, the powerful sideways forces have the potential to shear a kinetic penetrator in half, which significantly reduces the penetration of the round. It also defends against tandem warheads on chemical munitions, so it's really an all-rounder ERA system.
This tank in game: Unstoppable iron curtain. This tank irl: Rusty coffin with cardboard protection and a turret that likes to play rocket. And I am happy that Russia lives in constant fear of Western ATGM.

Everyone who isnt directly in Ukraine know that the early days and weeks of the war only showed that good weapons can seem bad if it is used the wrong way, logistics are stretched and the front is understaffed and the recent events and not so recent news about catastrophic ukrainian casualties have shown that if used correctly russian equipment can be very deadly and efficient
Relict ERA which is on the sides there is meant to also degrade apfsds rounds. Which is why it looks like grates. Basically it sends a bunch of knives at the sabot upon impact to chop it into tiny sabot pieces. Won't completely destroy modern apfsds rounds but will drastically lower their performance.
The bags aren't actually empty IRL. They're filled with a form of disruptive material against EFP weapons. You can see video of Ukrainian AT4's, Matadors, and NLAWs impacting on the sides with no effect.
There were some units, particularly around kyiv, who were either not installing the era, or selling it due to the systematic corruption in the Russian army. ERA is still incredibly effective against Kinetic penetrators. Depending on the type, it will deform, change the angle, and or break off the tip of the penetrator making it either entirely useless or significantly hampered

ace crew and just in general crew skills are a blatant pay to win mechanic. yes you can technically get it by grinding, but reality is... it's often just pay to win.

Crazy what playing in a Russian tank can do for you in this game.
It's designed to, but modern NATO APFSDS such as DM53, use tips that are designed to defeat Russian ERA, and practically render it worthless

I remember when they made tracer rounds OP on American .50 cals, I remember you only needed to scratch enemy aircraft and they were set on fire always instantly. Or I remember how Germans used to dominate tanks completely for a long while. So the bias isn't just for Russia.
@@teemuvesala9575 The only problem is Russia is OP more often than any country and the periods last longer.
They're also more OP consistently
I was gonna make the empty irl joke too XD. Probably going to hang at the lower tier for eva, so neat seeing the top tier gameplay.
its unreal and irl we saw all they got in those pouches are egg cartons anyway
Hehe, it's quite funny how many people still believe in this myth...

@@Polygon-yug-9581 Myth?Nah, many Russian tank crews got promoted as cosmonauts irl.
@@AFT_05G
Your mockery is wasted... Anyway, it doesn't change the fact that what this NPC above me stated is a simple myth originating from a lack of knowledge about ERA blocks and how they actually function or look like. Although feel free to try to prove the "egg carton" myth, I'm waiting. ;D
"Russia at top tier is amazing"... WT has made the transition to fantasy genre i see
Remember when T-34 were bouncing rounds that were as much as 50degrees outside of the deflection window or that the KV-1 and 2 'Accidentally' had 100 extra mm of frontal protection that didn't appear in armor analysis, or that mid/late war Russian tanks were using ammunition developed in the 1990's... Yeah, WT definitely doesn't use their game to stroke national pride or ego at all, that's absurd to even suggest it.
This patch has more visual issues than a cross eyed blind man.
With glaucoma.
OddBawZ is good because he knows about proper placement
A tank in the right place at the right time is very deadly.
Nah, they'll just leave it as it is. Gaijin just want a tank they can roll around in and decimate everyone without even trying.
I strongly suspect the mobility should not be so high with the additional hanging side armor. But of course, that's nearly impossible to prove.
most russian sources use false/boosted information for the sake of propaganda, gaijin knows this and uses it as a scape goat to blame all criticism when people confront them about the russian tanks being op, they know what they're doing, they're conscious about it, they just hope we don't get fed up
still to this day i wanna know when tf will the abrams family get their external armour packages like wtaf
When Russia gets its newest overpowered tank, so the external armour for Western tanks can stop like 15mm of KE and 200mm of HEAT while whatever is mounted on their next tank has an APS with 40 ammo that stops all projectiles.
Who would have thought a mbt upgrade revealed in 2017 would beat other mbts from much earlier. Exception being the type 10
@@mauswaffe yeah no I 100% agree with you, I was more comparing them based on what year they were introduced.

Awesome video, Odd!
Top tier is like completely new game. Forget everything you learned in lower BR, And if you dont play russia, you will suffer endlessly!
Could you do a video on the L-62 AKA the Swedish bathtub. It has so much HE it can kill a B1 or 105 Sherman through the roof 💀 also 1 shot panzers with ease
Watching top tier gameplay of WT (particular on smaller maps) really just further kills my enthusiasm for the game... Did ANYONE who played against Odd have fun? Not likely...
im pretty sure the "russian bias" thing still exist in this game, i played and almost finished the entire ussr tech tree and its so disgusting that some russian vehicle are really under BR, and also some russian ERA are too strong against kinetic rounds. you might be wondering why Kontakt 1 ERA can fully stopped M900. they are russian dev, so i can't complain about that lol.
Not because they are Russian developers, but because there are many players from Russia. In general, when Abrams were introduced into the game, for a long time they were the best tanks, and Soviet / Russian tanks were weak against them
If it is a rare occurrence you could've just misjudged an angle or could've just been gaijin'd
idk man, i've played this game for a long time and reached rank 7 on every single nations in the game, so i can tell that russian top tier has the most bullsh*t line up and damage model in the game rn, sometimes i feel bad for ruining people game with MiG-27K & Ka-52.
@@pixula7542 idk man i played the Ussr and the only great thing about top tier russian lineup is 11.0 with BVM,27K and 2s6, other than that russian lineup its pretty meh, they also late in the technology departement like only got thermal at 10.0, and they're slow as hell compared to other nation gun handling is bad and Cas is non guided. My point is yes T80BVM is OP, but other than that i dont think russia that conpetitive in the game
@@ryzkiguruh2942 Regardless, damage output and modeling numbers for Russian vehicles are all buffed.
funny how irl, these tanks have milk and egg carton as ERA on the sides.
If you look closely, behind the ERA on the sides is another layer of ERA. (They are like flat plates) These ERA packs is what stops the kenetic rounds. The egg cartons in the white bags only stop HEATFS.
The bags in real life are spacers that go overtop ERA which is why you see the carton looking things inside of the, ERA doesn’t go inside of the bags
Never thought there would be a game, even less balanced than WoT.
Gajin be like: "Hold my Vodka!"
Pros: easy to attach and remove, adds additional protection with no modifications required
Cons: easy to attach and remove also means easy to be knocked off or damaged. Combat and transport cause wear and tear that can either tear open the bags, or knock them off entirely.
I'd get more shrap with a stock tier 1 French apcr round than an apfsds shell when shooting at a T anything.
Early T tanks can actually spall up until the T-72
That ERA type deflects and breaks up APFSDS.
Are you sure that 50mm of steel is going to deflect and break up a dart that penetrates 800mm + of steel?
Before you answer, please ask yourself how much is 2+2 and why does it matter.
Behind the bags on the sides of the BVM and T-72B3, there are ERA panels with 200 mm kinetic energy munitions.
Trust a primarily Russian/Hungarian development team to make the Russian tanks effectively the best tanks in the game (not to mention the fact that their ERA is the only explosive armour that has a realisticaly moddeled effective protection effect compared to every other country in game)

it should work on older APFSDS but newer APFSDS were made with defeating ERA in mind. Sanything like M829A1/DM23 and newer were made in mind help pen any added armor thickness ERA might do to the APFSDS. But thats if the ERA even goes off in the first place.
Like the tipped APFSDS the Americans designed that supposedly can counter ERA. Although I'm skeptical of its effectiveness.
Russia simps will say "Oh but ackshually the ERA was made to stop APFSDS rounds" when in reality it likely does not do that
Depends on the type of ERA but yeah, those side bags? I bet it makes absolutely no difference against modern kinetic round, despites its many layers
How this tank can be allowed while the most modern M1s still don't have their improved armor packages is beyond me...
this tank looks cool!
Not sure if they simulate the composition of APFSDS rounds, but the abrams should have a bit of an edge over some other modern ones as they can use DU which is renowned for its ability to shrapnel and fuck people up.

Abrams isn't as good as u think irl. they get a good rep because they fight farmers and toyotas with mounted machine guns

I do enjoy the ironically hint behind the fact that a pretty much broken OP tank wear the "e-sports ready" skin
my first ever game i got 6 kills stock, and never needed to repair. the bvm is a beast 💪 and the support it has from helicopters and the other tanks you can have in the lineup is quite unlike any other nation at the moment.
Eh no, the US certainly has the same capabilities. Yeah, the US helicopters still underperform due to hellfires sucking in the game, but other than that the US is totally on par or better than USSR. I still far rather play Abramses than T80s. A10 can be super deadly to ground especially in late game, F14 can clean up the air space pretty effectively, you got ADATS for SPAA as well... And HSTVL is a monster if it gets to your flank.
@@teemuvesala9575 US top tier is way more lackluster compared to Russia. You shouldn't even expect an A10 on top tier. It will instantly get downed by SAM. Russia has 2S6 which is a better AA than ADATS, while also being recognized as an AA, therefore lower SP cost. Russian tanks are also very capable. Let's not pretend as if Russia is tailing behind. They have among the best armor, low profile tank, and overall best thermal optics (having multiple gen 3 thermal). The Winrate for BVM players clearly shows how easy it is to win using top tier Russia line up. This is not even including helicopters. As for HSTV, let's not forget BMP 2M which performs very competitively even at 11.0 but rated at 9.3.
@@triparadox.c That's not really true at all. The new Bradley's TOW's are very deadly vs Russian tanks who try hide behind terrain with their low profile, you shoot just above their roof and they die. ADATS is better than Tunguska because its missiles have 800mm of penetration, allowing it to reliably kill basically any tank it faces it frontally as well if you know where to aim... As pure AA vs air targets Tunguska may be better, but it cannot function nearly as well as tank destroyer as ADATS can. BMP2M is good yes, but so is HSTVL. Abramses are very good across the broad. I don't see US lacking anywhere except maybe helis since Hellfires perform poorly in WT.
@@teemuvesala9575 You're clearly a russian main
@@TheTeehee11111 I play US and USSR mostly. US feels lot easier to me, but US players are often just worse. I do lot better on average in US tanks, but I win more on average with USSR. I’ve narrowed it down it just has to be US players are on average worse.
I have started to play War Thunder 2 months ago and after watching dozens of videos from various channels, you were the one who convinced me to play this game and to also play Russia. Keep up the good content.
I’m researching t-90a

Kinda strange
Only Russian tanks may be modelled "Accurately".
Last time I played the BVM I was getting bullied by the Swedish Leo
I only have Italy and British top tier stuff and I don't really struggle against any top tier Russian tank ( they don't seem bad I just find them easy to kill) . The tanks I seem to struggle with the most are Swedish and German. And the easiest I find to fight is Chinese tanks .

*turret goes yeet*
Maybe some "realism" should be implemented to restore balance... a 50/50 chance your t-80 spawns with no ammo, empty reactive armor or half crew... not holding my breath, though.
Great i would also love the implementation of ww2 german armor being 50/25/25 good, overhardened or iron, and universal engine problems for everyone, can't have the good without the bad, also slight chance in every nation that the tank has a minor missing part, shitty crew commiting theft isnt just for Russia.
modules don't do squat when the crews are conscripts ordered to drive single file into enemy lines across an empty field
Well there is nato ammo that can go right through but gaijin will wait as long as they can to add that.
This tank in game: Unstoppable iron curtain.
This tank irl: Rusty coffin with cardboard protection and a turret that likes to play rocket.
And I am happy that Russia lives in constant fear of Western ATGM.
dont know if this is supposed to be sarcasm but if not you need a reality check that doesnt come directly from Ukraine and the claim about cardboard protection has been disproven many many times
@@geniusderweise400 No sarcasm involved here ;) And I rely on sources from neither involved parties.
Russia has this protection but only a few tanks have ever been fitted with it and even fewer work as intended and a lot have already been destroyed. Also this kind of protection doesn't work against top down ATGMs.
I watch your videos to get pumped up to play, 1st game 0 kills 746 deaths. Haha great vid as always!

After the past few weeks people who are understandably pro ukriane but don't manage to disconnect their political view from military reality, seem to be getting a lot more desperate so they fall back more and more to straight up lies and claims presented as hard facts.
@@geniusderweise400 I ain't reading that
Relict ERA which is on the sides there is meant to also degrade apfsds rounds.
They should be filled, but there are some instances of it not happening, as evidenced by a shed load of videos of captured t72 and t80's by Ukraine.
@@pinkyfull I guess they paid for it with their lives. Now that the full extent of the threat is realized, I doubt there are many empty ERA bags on the tanks that have them.
Had an “are your eyeballs working chief” moment today, as a t80UK passed by a building looking straight at my backend, and guess what, he don’t see me, I did see him, and I shot his engine and tracks.
Alright. I’ve got to be missing something. Is there a reason why Odd has called the Type 10 a Leclerc multiple times?
Howdy Odd, I have a challenge for you, I've also issued it to Phly, so we can see who accepts/beats it first.
The challenge, for a mixed battle, is to get a kill with each of the 4 ATGMs on the AMX-13 SS11, and to get an ace with the D520 without reloading. (it doesnt have to be the same match or even the same line up)
ERA is still incredibly effective against Kinetic penetrators. Depending on the type, it will deform, change the angle, and or break off the tip of the penetrator making it either entirely useless or significantly hampered
I'm definitely hyped for tunguska video in the future
I may be entirely wrong, but i think the explosion of the ERA in the APFSDS makes her shatter Before It penetrates the armor, decreasing his penetration. But again, i'm not sure.

I have been playing WAR THUNDER before ground forces. Only planes. When ground forces was released I was excited and left WoT in a heartbeat. But as I played I noticed something odd. The Russian tanks seemed to do better. This was way before the term Russian Bias was tossed around. So I did an experiment. I exclusively played German for a month. Then I played Russian for a month. Not surprising but the Russian tanks did better. My roll out to kill was much better. I still believe there is an intentional bias built in..
