121st try, please play the T-80 (light tank) or the T-28e in USSR 2.3 br. You have no videos on both tanks and they're fun. Both tanks are in 2.3br. The T-28E is foldered in with the T-28.
Difference between a 1968 4 speed manual v8...and a 2020 with automatic transmission, traction control, launch control, stability control, anti-lock brakes, rev limiter etc. You have to drive the 68...the other one you're just a passenger behind the wheel
i find matches below 7.0 to be way more fun to play and watch simply because you're closer to the fighting and defending the capture points. its just way more enjoyable that way instead of sitting in spawn pointing and clicking on tanks with range finder and thermals. seeing a tank blow up from a heat shell that had to be shot in a specific place will always make me come back compared to getting sniped while capturing a flag from the enemy's spawn
Was thinking the exact same thing, this point and click adventure isn`t fun to watch. Also the vehicles just don`t have the flavour that the lower tier tanks have. It also doesn`t help that I don`t have as large a screen as he does so a lot of the stuff he is shooting at are just tiny specks for me.
hitting a tiger's cupola with a jumbo 76 from 500+ meters away is just the best feeling in the game, especially if you're using the sim sight option. If i want to have fun, i'll play lower tiers. it's so much better than pressing two buttons and hoping you hit a weakspot
2.7 to 6.7 is my favourite range. And people have already said why. You’re closer to the fighting, you have a better chance of bouncing rounds because tank angling is actually an effective strat, and the variety of vehicles with very noticeable pros and cons just make the game more fun. The amount of times I’ve been in a 1v3 and 1v4 in a Jumbo, a Tiger, and a Churchill, just sitting there eating rounds as I slowly knock out each attacker is just oodles of noodles of fun. It’s just so much more enjoyable. Especially the CAS situation is more enjoyable too
I just wish I could actually play 6.7 matches instead of 7.3 matches against loads of HEAT-FS and APDS. I just want to duel with T34s/Tiger IIs and IS-2/3s
@@michaelbeale559this is why i hate 6.3. Its the "uptier me" tier. I think 5.7 is best for this reason. You'll get uptiered to 6.7 at best and thats manageable.
I haven't even reached top tier yet but everyone keeps saying CAS is so much worse there. This makes it so I don't wanna get there at all because I already despise CAS at 6.3
The Ka-50/52 is probably my most hated vehicle in the game, the thing is just so oppresive, and even when you manage to hit it the thing tends to survive just facetanking missiles >.>
as a guy who has like 40+ hours with a ka50 turms t combo ive yet to survive a missile yet. im lucky to survive a couple 762s when going on rocket runs. its odd how inconsistent gaijin is. cause ive been up in the air and ive seen ka50s right next to me surviving missiles etc.
I like top tier because thermals level the playing field for me. I'm 50, and my eyes aren't what they used to be. I don't have years and years of experience spotting targets like you do. You, Phly, you guys are spotting stuff across the map, fire, and kill it before I even figure out what you're looking at.
dont forget that you might not have the same resolution + youtube compression/rendering making it impossible to on the video you see. other then that it might also be a bit of a trick, if you do not focus on anything, your eyes pick up movement easier.
@@ThorindirNaari Oh, I know all about the not focusing trick. I used it all the time in the service doing seismic analysis for the nuclear test ban treaties. BUT, that was back in the mid 90's. My eyes aren't what they used to be, and I don't have the 10+ years experience spotting a 2 pixel sized target from across the map.
Top tier tanks and aviation come with all the apropriate bells and whistles, you would complain more if you had to use them with wwll controls and ammo, as for the quality of players not everyone can be an elite player and as it is a random pick there will always be a variety styles that may not be to everyone's liking, it all comes down to choice, play or dont play
For me playing between 3.0-6.7 is where I enjoy myself most, the ww2 tanks are good fun and all quite individual. My highest vehicle is the 122tm and that BR is not fun and I have a full line up for France at 7.7 which is ok but not as fun. I'm no where near top tier but the lead up to it is not fun.
I completely agree. I intentionally play at 6 or below. WWII era tank warfare is the most fun for tank on tank dueling. No thermal no laser range finders. You can get up close and personal.
Agreed. The Ka-50 parts were funny to me, because you can spam out missiles even without a target and you never ran out. Even if you did run out, the chopper pad is right there.
The hardest part about top tier is determining if a tank is dead or not through your thermals. which can be solved by turning them off. pretty much the only challenge left at top tier
Exactly why I’ve been grinding a bit of every nation up to rank IV. I find it super fun to have to switch play styles when switching from Japan to UK to Sweden to France and so on.
Saves a lot of SL for other trees too. Top tier is just too expensive for me. Why unlock 4 top tier vehicles when i could unlock literal ranks of another tree with the same SL?
i think top tier would be good if the maps were like 10x the size with 5-6 spawn locations each side. searching for the enemy, rather than just knowing where there going to come from.
Yeah i'm 100% in on very large top tier maps. I think most maps are just waaaay to small for top tier. Another commenter also mentioned having fun in urban top tier and I have to agree, its where I have the most fun at top tier
@@godlymonkey street fight maps make every single scout tank useless i agree that they shouldn't be in top tier but that shouldn't mean low tier has exclusively street fight maps
@@player12gaming89 it should be a choice honestly because I dont want to play on a massive map with low velocity 75 or anything similar also city maps make scout tanks stupidly strong if they have what they should aka good enough gun and good mobility
There's also the insane inconsistency that plagues top tier as well, for me that's the worst part of it. The countless times I hit a barrel or breech for 0 damage, (even worse with the increased amount of turret de-sync lately) ammo racks just vanish into thin air, tracks and russian ERA eat APFSDS from the side for breakfast, volumetric making shells disappear... Or when air to air missiles completely ignore countermeasures with 0% throttle from a side aspect while other times the same missile goes dumb from the first flare from the rear with afterburner on... Gaijin needs to focus on fixing existing things for a couple of updates instead of pumping the game full of copy paste vehicles and extreme powercreep. (pantsir for a current example) But we all know that won't happen because that doesn't generate income like a new copy paste premium does...
No, Gaijin doesn't need to focus on fixing existing things (only)... they need to stop cramming things into the game that make it more and more unstable...
"Gaijin needs to focus on fixing existing things for a couple of updates instead of pumping the game full of copy paste vehicles and extreme powercreep" bro this has been a thing for 8 years. it's not gonna happen. you are totally correct
@@12345DJay i can still hope. I dont even bother going above 7.3 anymore. Its flat out unplayable. Gaijin isnt getting another cent out of me until something is changed. Its just pathetic what they are doing to this game.
This. Thank you for speaking out. Id say one more thing: not the AA inconsistency, but the fact theyre tied to an aircraft or smth. Literally, you fly Su25 and get front or side rocket, fire 20-30 flares and it just doesnt care. And then literally the next thing you see is a top-tier AA going full dumb with 1st flare chasing afterburning Mig29. Bruh.
Jesus, I had no idea they were adding the Pantsir. What the hell. Russia is still stomping in top tier, the tunguska is among the best SPAA in-game, and Russia still gets an insanely good weapons system for what, "balance"? It's a mind-boggling decision when the US gets ADATS, the UK too and the nerfed-to-oblivion Stormer. VT-1 missile boats have nowhere near that capability. There is no reason to boost Russia's already huge advantage.
I personally find top tier more fun because of the veilcles rather than the playstyle. And not as in spamming a 2S38 but I like the Abrams and Challenger.
I have the other way around, i like the WW2 era vehicles... Does not help much that there are cold war and 1970 + vehicles at the same br as them now ...
And i hate it that you are not forced to use a joystick in Realistic Game mod. Mouse is way to powerful, while a joystick gives you a much more satisfying result wen you actually are able to do a proper strafing run or a dogfight. You are more physically engaged doing a maneuver.
I like many can play high tier but being able to predict your guns arc of fire is kind of an art form at mid and lower tier where a lot of times the first shot or subsequent shots determine the outcome of an engagement.
First shot determines the engagement. The rest is a scramble. I was just arguing some dipshit on tiktok this point and I knew I wasn't alone. Further, maneuver warfare against an uptier that is heavier, in armor and firepower, but super slow, is how it should be played as that's how the tanks were designed. 4.7-6.7 is the war thunder sweet spot and always will be
I am just here because your channel is my breakfast radio. So whatever brings you the most joy to play is what I would prefer to see on my screen. On a personal note I am always a big fan of playing the obscure vehicles that you don't see spammed out in droves (to me it feels like you earn any good result you get, I don't really feel that as much when driving the stronk vehicles), also derp guns because big boom make brain happy.
Don't worry OddBawz, most of us actually agree with you about the current state of top tier. Like my issue at the moment is I play the Puma around 9.3 and if I get uptiered to 10.0 where there is those premium Leopard 2's then I know I will lose as those games are just full of the 1 and done players. It is not fun at all finding out I have no team left only 2mins into a battle.
I think a lot of folk, myself included, desire to see top-tier content from yourself and Phly Daily because many of us don't have these vehicles. I find myself clicking on top-tier content more often because I'm curious: how does that tank I'll probably never get play? What are it's capabilities? Another IS-2 video tends to disinterest me: it's going to be a big, slow, boom-cannon gameplay video that I'm already familiar with. Top-tier content, too, has more fun bells and whistles. The 30mm strapped to a T-72 is more interesting to watch, sometimes, than an IS-2 with one gun.
That's very valid. I'm not ranting about you or other people who comment, I'd just like to give some context that it's not really fun for me. I'll still be making top tier content for like fun unique vehicles or new stuff.
@@OddBawZ I feel for you - and generally agree. But I still click on these damn top-tier videos more often simply because I can experience it vicariously through you. 8.0 is about as high as I can go. I think APFSDS and thermals are my personal fun cut-off line.
JustinPlays is one of the few content creators who prefers top-tier gameplay, so I highly suggest you check out his channel if you are interested in such things.
@@OddBawZ i feel it also is probably not fun because for decent players like us, it doesnt feel good when a battle is 1-sided, and when it feels like you're only doing good because the vehicle is carrying you. When it feels like the vehicle is whos good and not you, it stops being fun. Its why i dont play the TURMS-T and BMP-2M unless i want to prove a point. Overpowered vehicles arent fun because theres no challenge and you play them knowing the enemy has no chance. I found it funny that you chose to play USSR too for the most amount of 0 challenge possible to prove a point.
In the first game, id really like to know how in a top tier game, on a map that is basically just a field, you just drove forward up to just outside their spawn without once getting shot to get a bit of a flank, thats some youtuber luck right there
For me, the biggest frustration isn't the vehicles or really even the players. It's the maps! So many maps you are dead in your spawn. They need to make the maps more appropriate to the vehicles.
Anyone that says you don't enjoy top-tier because you don't get the kills needs to watch these first two games. Multi-strike x5 in both matches. Love your work, OddBawZ!
Play what you enjoy and have fun with, whether its a video where you're balancing yourself by giving yourself a challenge or whether you're just showing off how much of a power house a vehicle/lineup is, the videos where you're truly having a good time and feel like youre accomplishing something are always the best to watch imo.
To me, the higher you go in the BR, the more Arcade characteristics replace RB's. I mean, speed, reflexes and easier gunnery replacing carefulness, positioning, aiming. I don't feel rewarded killing stuff in high BR
High/top tier turn into more of an FPS then low tier, and some people enjoy FPS games, so they enjoy high/top tier more, I am the same, I like high tier far more then low tier (and because low tier is somehow more unbalanced)
@@Dioxol i found very low br and 5.7 unbalance, the other one is pretty uch ok until 7.7 where the wall become "haves and haves not" Then top BR became balance because everyone has all features again
@@Dioxol a very hot take but I agree with it. After reaching 6.7-7.7 US I felt huge relief because the game became balanced again. From that bracket onward pretty much every tank can pen each other from the front, but the majority BEFORE THAT is bullshit. Having a player that has ~200 hours in the game that has to play with shermans against Panthers and Tigers is the peak bullshit in WT that is often glossed over by the playerbase.
@@ISt0leYaCheese That wasn't clear based on what you said, though the Rolands can still kill light targets with overpressure. It can happen to (non-Soviet) MBTs too, but can't be relied upon. Though I will agree the Roland should be classified as an SPAA as it is so unreliable vs tanks.
There are still a lot of new players at T1/2, which is I think why there's a T3 requirement for doing your daily stuff. But past that 9.0+ is absolutely where all newbies with too much money go to die. The overwhelming majority of games I play at that tier nowadays aren't decided by which team is better but by which team has fewer one-tank-wonders, which is just so incredibly frustrating. Add to that how ridiculously easy it is to spawn camp at higher tiers and it's just a shit situation all around.
Been playing WT on and off for about ten years now and have always avoided top tier like the plague. Top tier is where motivation and sanity go to die.
I'm still working out what I enjoy most. I'm not very good so repair costs and dying with little progress are my biggest gripes. I really enjoy the m901 (guiding ATGMs and getting kills via MCLOS is satisfying), but the repair costs and difficulty for me at that BR make it extremely frustrating.
I like the low tier videos. Especially with the more gonzo vehicles. You do fine Odd! Plus I have a soft spot in my heart for WWII and early Cold War era vehicles. They just have a charm to them.
In a lot of ways, top tier feels like being back in ground arcade, and there was a reason I stopped playing that mode. Anytime, I go much above 7.7, I last about 5 games before dropping back to Rank 3 or 4 for some fun.
Highest I play is 5.7 with my tiger, panther, and isu. Your right odd and anyone who thinks low tier is boring probably just can't aim or doesn't understand angles lmao
I like low tier less only because tanks are way slower, i used to enjoy heavy tanks but it got boring, recently i started the french tree and got 2 EBRs and the AML and honestly they are so fun to play because they are fast af, they may lack firepower (except the AML) and armor but the mobility makes up for it.
Heyyyyy Odd, how about using the Italian Chunky Duck (P.108 serie A) and taking it to a mid-high br? It's honestly more useful there against bigger targets, although in actuality, it's still a pretty useless plane because it has the aerodynamic capability of some unnamed individuals mother. Thanks!
My tech progress in this game has always been to get to around 9.0-10.0 and then just start a new tree. Kind of necessary anyways to keep the SL count positive without premium
not that my opinion matters but i agree with the end statement of wanting to be doing the things for myself the hardest part is with gaijin being gaijin every br seems to have certain "meta" vehicles that make them all a bit rough around the edges for other natons, ex. low tier swedish apds, the wma ptlo spam for starters
They nerfed the penetration when you fire through buildings, but in an insane way. I noticed that when I fired with a T54 through a thatch building, 90° into the side of a DF105. All 4 rounds shattered, after that I noticed it a few times too and since then I dont fire through buildings anymore.
I find that fully competitive matches full of text tree T80BVM’s have much more people leaving after 2 deaths. When it’s full premiums they always leave after 1-2 deaths. You have to get a team with tech tree vehicles that are close to top tier but slightly off for best results in my experience.
I think there are definitely ways that Gaijin could make the high tiers more fun for many players, but it'd require changing the RB game mode to not be so basic (and actually having maps suitable for top tier). Gaijin loves to cherry pick which things to fix and which not to. For instance, the Brits finally got a great CAS plane (Harrier GR. 7) and since it's release, it has had a wide variety of bugs that make it inconvenient or just completely useless in the CAS role. One bug will eventually be fixed, and then another added right after. It's frustrating that these things don't get fixed while Gaijin adds a 9.3 Hunter with Mavericks and countermeasures to Germany.
Yeah, I mainly play top tier sim so it's super chilled out sniping each other gameplay, unless some thunder cunt spawns in a KA-50/52 at the start of the game and kills your entire team
At 8.7 right now and it's so miserable to play most of the time. 1 death leavers filling my team resulting in a loss. Constant up-tiers and going up against Turms, BMP-2M, 2S38 and Su-25k line-ups that sweep the match. Started going through another tree so I can actually enjoy the game again.
@@joshjonson2368 playing Germany, using the TAM and Leo a1a1 with the Gepard for some anti-cas. It's not too bad when playing around 8.7 but I get full up-tiers into the 9.7 premiums constantly which makes it rough to play.
@@superdog736 yea 9.7 Germany is where it's at, could argue the 2a4 should go down .3 in br but doubt that would sir well with the majority of the playerbase
Ground battles after 8.0 and up are just brutal, if you manage to get more than 2 kills without getting killed form god knows where it's great. Around BR 7.0 - 7.7 you start to get atgms in some nations, but at least they do not have a lot and cam be countered somewhat.
3.0 to 7 (at a push) is the best BR for me. I havn't played higher than 7 due to the grind. I just ended up playing lower BR because it's fun. Crusader Saint all the way.
8.7 is the max I really go. If I go any higher I just end up getting angry. 7.7 is pretty good because it still feels like conventional fighting, so no thermals, hardly any range finders, mostly no apfsds. And no stabilizers for the most part. Everything below is pretty good as well.
I completely agree with you on this Bawz. Beyond 7.3 theres not much skill needed to perform well, specially with mouse guided ATGM, stabilized guns and weaponized scooters running around.
I don't particulary enjoy top-tier either, but the ease at which you can be detected, engaged and killed requires a fairly different skill set. It's more about stealth, positioning and awareness. It's also super boring.
Ya don't listen to those top tier whiners. Top tier is so boring to play. Please continue to do as you wish I will watch your content no matter what. Ty
Hey Odd, just wondering if you've perhaps considered making a map tierlist / guide? I'm always seeing you get into quite good spots to push into. I suppose its something that would take a long time to make & could be outdated relatively quickly for how much work it would be but I'm curious as to your thoughts
Newer player here. Currently grinding the German ground tree. Made it up to 6.7 organically, and then bought the 10.0 Leopard 2. The rate at which I can grind SL and RP is insane compared to anything at lower tiers, and I do enjoy the combat at 10.0. I have a 7.3 lineup right now with Leo 1, BMP 1, and Marder 1. I bought a Talisman for the Leopard 1 and have been having a BLAST playing 7.3 BR. It is significantly quicker paced than WWII combat (which I still really enjoy,) but seems to be sweet spot before thermals and insane dart ammunition etc.
Yup. Premium vehicles + premium time gives you insane amounts of RP and SL. I grinded out the MBT and light tank/IFV line of Germany in 2 weeks. Currently on the SPAA.
Gajin should release a tanks only realistic battle, that would certainly solve the issue of CAS being overpowered on top tier. Hard to fix the one spawn premium guys though
@@SentinelPL This, the game is designed with combined arms in mind, if anything we will sooner or later see theater level maps being introduced that are large enough to allow for air, sea and ground to exist in the same hours or days long "battle'. Think "enduring confrontation' on steroids.
@@robertsmith4681 I've been thinking for some time I'd love a mode like this. Kind of like a combination of the Heli PVP mode and World War. Big map like heli PVP mode, but you can jump in during the battle at different base spawns to capture points / take out AA. Throw in some naval bases to capture. Will never happen though, they make way too much money just modeling new premium jets / tanks. No cash comes immediately in hand hand from bettering the game modes. Nothing will change especially while the player count is stable or increasing.
@@Dan-yk6sy i dream of a day where we will end up with a theater wide "map' and have a "war' that involves hundreds, perhaps thousands of players over the course of several weeks, not sure we will ever see that however...
@@robertsmith4681 combined arms is bullshit, If I want to play aircraft and not fight SPAA I can, but if I want to play tanks and not fight aircraft I cant, so you should be able to play SPAA in air rb, its only fair
in one of your former videos i saw you playing around with Napalm , and how its working or not working , try dropping a napalm bomb on a ship sometimes the outcome is amazing specially small destroyer , even a Heavy Cruiser can be sunk in about 30 seconds with Napalm just burning off the whole Crew , anyway , nice vid like always , keep it up
I would agree that lower tiers are usually more fun, but with all the increasing cold war armored cars and light vehicles armed with HEAT which negates any armour some BR brackets are in a delicate spot. The BR of those vehicles is totally arbitrary imo, anything which its only strength is having more than 200mm of pen will be just as competitive at 3.0 than at 6.0
Who in their right mind would say that low tier is boring? Low-mid tier where the game shines. Today I played some battles at 6.3 and I met a guy on the opposite team who spawned 6 times. That's like half of the respawns of a top tier team combined. I love long, thrilling where you have to fight until the end and they aren't decided in the first 3 minutes.
the most balanced BR to me in the game is around the 6.7 mark. Around that point is right where it shines. between 4.3-8.0 is generally ruined entirely by Germanys extreme handhold though, and approaching the 8.0 mark it starts to switch to being Russia and China (russia 2.0) that ruins the rest of the game with their handhold. If uptiers and downtiers didnt exist alot more BR's wouldnt be as bad.
I feel very similarly to you Oddbawz, When they first introduced modern tanks I was super excited to grind up there and use them. And at first the experience was okay, then came top tier jets and then helicopters and now drones and insanely good spaa, along with a lot of terrible maps and most matches just Being who can spawn camp first. I decided I prefer playing Below 8.0 when it comes to Ground RB, and I have switched to grinding air tech trees Because I have most tanks I want below 8.0. On a side note I am really enjoying learning how to play Air RB! I wish Naval was more popular as I grind it for SL and actually enjoy the experience. Great video keep it up!
I rarely go higher than 7.7, and I only play 7.7 for the Maus, just finished unlocking all the camos for it, usually I much prefer 3.0 to 6.7, there's actually skill and positioning involved instead of "click and boom" top tier stuff.
Literally the only reaosn I bother playing tanks (which i kinda hate) is so I can get the German tree unlocked far enough to get the Maus the next time it comes around ...
@@Optimusprime56241 takes a lot more skill than sitting outside the map with a heli or clicking 2 buttons to laser rangefind and 1tap literally anything
for me the game just stops being fun around 9.0 most of the time, which is a shame because some of my favourite vehicles are at 9.0 to 10.0. I'm a huge fan of that late cold war era, and i remember the Leopard 2K and a few others were so fun to play when I grinded them out a couple of years ago, but now i'm back up to that br range in other tech trees, and it's just not fun. Yeah, the 2K, the 2A4, and the KPZ-70 are still good, and kind of fun to play, but you're constantly in 10.0 games thanks to half of your team being in the premium 2A4, and they all leave after dying once, maybe twice if they got enough sp for a drone. I've been playing around 9.3 a lot with USSR recently, and it's the same with the TURMS. Premium spam just ruins the game, along with drones, helicopters, A-10s and SU-25s. Add to that the fact that a lot of nations don't get reliable SAMs until at least 10.0, meaning that the aforementioned drones, helicopters and stupid CAS planes are more or less invulnerable until they get uptiered to 11.0 or beyond. And don't even get me STARTED on the maps at top tier
the maps are the biggest part for me. i think for more modern tanks we just need a enduring conflict for ground sim/rb or just do away with the linear 3 corridor call of duty map style gaijin goes for. and just do outright death matches on bigger more open maps. like my favourite part about post scriptum tanking is when you run up on tanks its kind of unexpected. where as war thunder you walk down one of three corridors and you expect and know you will see an enemy after 15 seconds driving from spawn. i also hate with the current mapstyles is theres only 2 spawn points from either side. bigger maps with 4 sides to spawn on would make maps more dynamic.
@MrWeenuk21 the thing is, some of the sim versions of maps would be great at top tier, like el alamein or tunisia, they're so much bigger than the rb versions. But no, you just get knife fight maps like advance to the rhein, breslau, vietnam, or abandoned factory. But team deathmatches would be really good in the whole game, not just at top tier. I don't think I've seen anyone suggest that before, but it's a great idea
My most fun lineups are 2.7. I have played vehicles up to 6.0, but I have a less fun after 4.3 or so. Play gets more bitchy/defensive, research and repair takes forever, more leavers after 1 death, and last but not least CAS planes/players gets really good. Low-tier CAS can be effective, but is typically either super slow like Stuka/Duck/IL2, or has limited load.
Too many people figured they could just drop £50 or whatever for some pixels, and just automatically be good at the game They get killed right out of the spawn, learn nothing, and have no backups Spend your money how you like guys, and I'm not hating on noobs because we all have to start somewhere, but Gaijin opened up top-tier gameplay to total novices and it ruins it for other people completely Love your stuff Odd, thank you for the content
And that's why I've really only bought vehicles 1-2 tiers over what I already have. Like the Yak-3 VK107 I bought cause I generally knew how to play Yaks. I bought the XP50 cause I needed SL and had learned how to use my altitude and energy. I bought the T-34-57 because I wanted a tank that would boost my RP and stay reliable past its own BR. I can't figure out why you'd want to just buy into a rank which, at least in concept, would be full of experienced players. There are better games to drop a chunk of change to play with cool modern toys like DCS. But, that's just how it is. I don't have any top tiers yet so I guess I've got to leave it at that
The very first time I ever played War Thunder RB, I was the only one to spawn in on the Berlin map, drove around for 10 minutes exploring the map bored before I called it quits.
@@magicelf7559 What really you can do to a Tiger II with a Cromwell besides flanking it?? I really like confidence of you guys. “tIgEr ıI’s nIgHtMaRe” what a joke. Meanwhile i seal club Pershings and IS-2s in my Tiger II P and H.
100% agree it feels so much more satisfying if you see someone peaking out the bushed at 1 km missing you, and you stoping the tank to aim. It's more than the adrenaline if they still got the range false and their shell is a bit too short of hitting you. For you to guess the distance correctly and and 1 taping him. Than see enemy 2km away with IR where he glows like Xmas tree between the bushes using a rangefinder to a just minimal bullet drop and just shoot him on the drive like nothing.
top tier is utter garbage. vehicles play themselves, lvl 10 people who die at the beginning and quit because they only had that one vehicle, drones , imbalanced vehicles.. the list is endless
this reminds me of basically all bluewater naval games. The maps are so cramped that it makes it basically worthless to even try to play bluewater with anything bigger than a Destroyer at 3.3
9:22 This is the reason I like flat urban maps, or atleast more so when I played USSR. It’s way harder to hide yourself in an urban map, no amount of bushes is going to conceal you against a brick wall or set of containers. Especially as a newbie who was would frequently (and still do to a limited extent) get upset by getting shot out of nowhere, either you can see each other clear as day, or you cannot see each other at all. Furthermore, the angles that you can get shot from are far more limited, which further aids in visibility and situational awareness. Now that I am a bit more skilled and am playing Germany whose powerful guns and good gun depression allows me to better take advantage of terrain and shoot at distant targets, meaning I don’t loathe non-urban maps anymore, but still do enjoy Urban fights.
Low tier is way more fun than high tier: imagine actually liking thermals and one hit kills from nowhere over meme vehicles and honest engineering attempts at not creating something weird
This,, getting yeeted from 5km+ away over and over and over again losing silver every time pushes players to stay at low tier and "farm" silver. I play very few tanks (highest I have at the moment is BR 2.0) and yet pretty much every battle there are a couple of players with "lord of war" and other titles indicating these folks are basically seal clubbing...
Quick thing not sure if you knew but the laser warning system has a little indicator for what direction you're being pinged from so you can tell where someone is when they laser range find you. Another more annoying thing is it seems like friendlies also set it off.
My favorite is just a tick under top tier. 8.7-9.3. It feels like most of the mechanics are still in play, matches are still longer and more competitive, but you're able to play something than the same old WW2 tanks you've played all your life in every game ever made.
I agree. As a newer player, I find top tier to be easier because it's point and click. In lower tiers, I have to consider my angle, shot placement, can I pen the tank I'm shooting, how fast can my turret traverse to track small targets. Most of that is gone at top tier and replaced with point and click...whoever clicks first wins.
I love that claim, can't be further from the truth. "Newer players are not in low tier, they're in their 9.7 prem vehicles. They die in their prem vehicles and they leave the match"
I ground all the way up to british 10.3, and I like having new elements like using my lynx heli to zoom around and pop up at odd places on the map and sidewinder planes as they fly by. But the biggest problem are the matches are so short with all the one death quitters who only have 1 premium. The rest of the people don't want to respawn because the repair costs are so high even with premium you need 2 or 3 kills in some cases to just break even. If there's any chance to be spawn camped its not worth respawning. Everyone hates on planes and helis but I like the combined arms aspect of the game, as long as your whole team spawns air and no one is left to re-cap points. When I get angry at jets and helis I spawn my starstreak launcher and print SL.
if only you could just research the entire tree with whatever vehicle you choose. But no, they all can only research 1 tier above their own efficiently. which in turn makes it so new players (and older) to just purchase the highest tier tanks they can as not to waste money on an already extremely expensive game.

i find matches below 7.0 to be way more fun to play and watch simply because you're closer to the fighting and defending the capture points. its just way more enjoyable that way instead of sitting in spawn pointing and clicking on tanks with range finder and thermals. seeing a tank blow up from a heat shell that had to be shot in a specific place will always make me come back compared to getting sniped while capturing a flag from the enemy's spawn
That's mbt and apfsds its better at long range
3.7 is the best tier, objectively.

Top tier maps should be massive and with low tiers they should be urban small maps tjose are the most fun because sniping is boring as fuck
I mean i love urban top tier gameplay because you can actually move somewhere without getting Fed by someone in their spawn

The real challenge of top tier is the endless amounts of keybinds, mostly for aircraft
And i hate it that you are not forced to use a joystick in Realistic Game mod. Mouse is way to powerful, while a joystick gives you a much more satisfying result wen you actually are able to do a proper strafing run or a dogfight. You are more physically engaged doing a maneuver.
Yeah its been confusing as hell learning the Iranian f-14. So many damn buttons for radar controls.

This is great as usual, but I enjoy watching you play the most when you are happy playing the game.

Same goes for aviation. Nothing like biplane on biplane action, dogfighting into the dirt, instead of juat shooting homing missiles.
Thanks!
I tried using it in ground RB and went back to using the F.C. 20Bis after one match. It was an absolute brick.
My tech progress in this game has always been to get to around 9.0-10.0 and then just start a new tree. Kind of necessary anyways to keep the SL count positive without premium

Newer player here. Currently grinding the German ground tree. Made it up to 6.7 organically, and then bought the 10.0 Leopard 2.
Me, low tier is boring
I feel very similarly to you Oddbawz, When they first introduced modern tanks I was super excited to grind up there and use them. And at first the experience was okay, then came top tier jets and then helicopters and now drones and insanely good spaa, along with a lot of terrible maps and most matches just Being who can spawn camp first. I decided I prefer playing Below 8.0 when it comes to Ground RB, and I have switched to grinding air tech trees
Because I have most tanks I want below 8.0. On a side note I am really enjoying learning how to play Air RB! I wish Naval was more popular as I grind it for SL and actually enjoy the experience. Great video keep it up!
“The helicopter knows where I am because he knows where I am not” made me laugh more than I should have 😂
Tip, you can mute your engine sound so you can hear the enemies one if close to one
“Skill”
@@Optimusprime56241 takes a lot more skill than sitting outside the map with a heli or clicking 2 buttons to laser rangefind and 1tap literally anything
@@Traxlar yeah instead you one tap anything anyways or you completely tank all shots in your heavy tank, very skillful indeed
WW2 to T54/Type59 that's the sweet spot
for me the game just stops being fun around 9.0 most of the time, which is a shame because some of my favourite vehicles are at 9.0 to 10.0.
Dude, every day I'm looking for a video and seeing a new one brings me a lot of joy, thank you brotha!
Too many people figured they could just drop £50 or whatever for some pixels, and just automatically be good at the game
They get killed right out of the spawn, learn nothing, and have no backups
Spend your money how you like guys, and I'm not hating on noobs because we all have to start somewhere, but Gaijin opened up top-tier gameplay to total novices and it ruins it for other people completely
Love your stuff Odd, thank you for the content
I don't have any top tiers yet so I guess I've got to leave it at that
Love your content oddbawz
love from Philippines🇵🇭
The very first time I ever played War Thunder RB, I was the only one to spawn in on the Berlin map, drove around for 10 minutes exploring the map bored before I called it quits.
Before I even wstch this I 100 percent agree, fuck top tier
the rubber banding match was probably one of the funniest things I have ever seen. reminded me of the movie live, die, repeat.
Could you play the Cromwell 1 with the 6pdr and stabiliser. It has the good mobility and i find it really fun to play even at 6.7
uptiering a cromwell to 6.7? gigachad
@sneakycactus8815 good pen + mobility + stabiliser = tiger 2's nightmare
@minerals9712 I do flank in the Cromwell, I was just making a bit of a joke.
As soon as I meet I tiger II from the front I am dead
Rant on, fully understand. Low ter is fun. It's not as serious , and last time i checked, fun is why you play a game.
odd, the LWS shows you which direction you are being lasered from. that last match was your teammates lasering you
100% agree it feels so much more satisfying if you see someone peaking out the bushed at 1 km missing you, and you stoping the tank to aim.
Germany is awful at city maps, brawling. The whole tree is nearly sniping tanks
I'm a Russia main but I suck at hilly ranged maps so i prefer to play on somewhat flat ones especially with the Russian T72 series.
Low tier is way more fun than high tier: imagine actually liking thermals and one hit kills from nowhere over meme vehicles and honest engineering attempts at not creating something weird
also Gaijin, WW1 vehicles when?
This,, getting yeeted from 5km+ away over and over and over again losing silver every time pushes players to stay at low tier and "farm" silver. I play very few tanks (highest I have at the moment is BR 2.0) and yet pretty much every battle there are a couple of players with "lord of war" and other titles indicating these folks are basically seal clubbing...
Quick thing not sure if you knew but the laser warning system has a little indicator for what direction you're being pinged from so you can tell where someone is when they laser range find you. Another more annoying thing is it seems like friendlies also set it off.
Friendlies do set this off which is annoying AF but also realistic... I guess.
@@gfimadcat oh yeah i find myself being that person every once in a while then i rm how obnoxious it is
In the beginning I just wanted to play higher tier vehicles, now seeing this. I think mid and low tier is where the real fun is.
Note to all, don't piss off the Odd.
Great job brother, thank you.
A map tier list from you would be interesting
1:10 I literally never had a moment where I didn't explode after my ammunition was hit out of hundreds of games with this and the U version
if only you could just research the entire tree with whatever vehicle you choose.
But no, they all can only research 1 tier above their own efficiently.
which in turn makes it so new players (and older) to just purchase the highest tier tanks they can as not to waste money on an already extremely expensive game.
The last decent BR is 8.3/8.7, as soon as you enter into the 10.0+ BR range through uptiers it gets very messy. Even 9.7 is a pain.
