That might be because the ERA type used by the Challenger is unspecified, I think it's classified IRL, so they can't give it the anti kinetic properties the russian ERA has. In game it's modelled the same as the ROMOR ERA used by some other tanks, which is just basic and fairly primitive ERA more similar to what the TURMS has.
@@therealmp40 Some Chally have ERA model for chemical only. They also have NERA that made from the same material as the turret and upper plate. But somehow have value worst then wood/aluminum against kinetic.
I really have to think a lot of people don't realize you can drop from a game without a crew lock if the enemy team is in your spawn. You may want to bring that up in a future video, may help some people out.
The fact that this vehicle has a CODED IN ADVANTAGE that gaijin gave them, despite the fact that almost all other aspects of it are near to or the best ingame is the very definition of bias.

It's not bias or advantage it's gaijin finally modeling spall liners idk why it's the ONLY tank with a spall liners when the M1A2 SEP also has it and even Challenger 2 Black knight has it (I've sent bug reports)

*Kontakt-1 IRL:* can't stops anything that is an APFSDS or a tandem-charge round/missile, sometimes even a basic shaped charge. *Kontakt-1 in WT:* eats the whole tungsten/uranium rod from the side, let the tank mounting it turning to end the suffering of the injuried beast that tried to strike him, then leave to repeat such bs. I know it by suffering and surviving it, my T-64B was blessed more than once back in the days of grinding russian tanks, the same for my T-80B and T-72B (but not the mod 1989 strangely enough, the K-5 was a massive disappointment).

I played 25 games yesterday with German top tier. All my vehicles have expert crews. My team (s) won less than 10 games. Every game we loss was against Russia and others. Every one we won was with Russia as teammates. Now, I had a handful of good games myself (including one 8 kill game) but majority of the time it was 2-3 deaths and out. Needless to say my SL count was largely negative. If I continued that way for multiple days I would be SL broke in no time. That’s what the Russia bias has caused.
Even as a tiger uht main.. it is impossible to carry the germans to win if the whole team has only 1 tiger... against multiple ka 50 spawns and not including mi28 stuffs

@@aslatabistaalphonso4250 also what would contribute to russia easily having the best lineups is the fact that the ka-50 exists, that shit makes grinding helis braindead easymode compared to germany which only gets the mi-24P-something-something. And I say that cause a lot of the times the Ka-50 players that know what to do, hog a lot the points from heli enduring confrontation matches. Not to mention how effective it is in tank battles. If every other nation gets an equal premium then I have a feeling the current russian 65% winrate would drop to atleast maybe 59%, not only fro the fact that people will have easy access to a top tier heli as well, but it will make the grind for the main tree top tier helis easier as well so people will actually bother to go through that abysmal grind.
@@shaggings It might be "super secret knowledge" but all it takes is ONE SINGLE jet, and multiple Ka-50 can be toast in less than a minute. Just hop into one after you die and go hunt helis. It's even better way to grind your aircraft than realistic air battles, and your team will thank you for it.

So everyone could easily spam them, then they also have the Mi-28NM and the Ka-52 with Vihkr. If someone has em all in a lineup that is one hell of a lineup, especially since all of em can be spawned with Vihkrs just by rushing the 1st cap in a bt-7, which makes me think that maybe the spawn costs should be increased so you actually have to get like either 2 caps or 4-5 kills to spawn it in.
Friendly advice for playing against russian tanks: Don't count on ammorack, you can just kill 2 crew members, which is MUCH more consistant (obviously, but a lot people still want to shoot the ammo). It's a really good tank, but mostly it's about the lineup with helis, migs AND good tanks + a lot of good players prefer to play side that wins mostly making winrate even better (and worse for other nations).

what people don't realise is that just like the the T-64s, the T-80s have the ammo placed vertically in the carousel and it sits high enough not to get hit in most cases through a lower front plate shoot. They mistakenly attribute this to russian bias. Aim for the drivers post or gun breach if you are feeling unlucky, though most of the time i still one shoot them by the LFP because the fuel mostly indeed explodes

It's armor is more of a dumb proof armor. Its takes hits if opponent is missing he's shots or doesn't know where to shoot. You can always pen t80bvm everywhere with old dm33 if you know where you are shooting. But nowadays it's just leo2a6 players expecting to lolpen everything and just shooting ufp and cheecks of t80
@Raphaël Ambrosius Costeau the hit boxes for the ERA are way bigger in the match than in preview, and t80 ammo doesn't detonate most of the time, even when you black out the whole rack. the t80bvm is biased AF, especially considering the ERA it's designed to have just doesn't exist in real world. they are sent out with rubber pads. RPGs and HEAT are knocking them out IRL. Even on paper, t80bvm ERA cannot stop the 600mm of kinetic pen the 2a5 and 2a6 or even Abrams bring to bear.
I've been avoiding ~11 br and have gone down to ~8. There you have the T-55AM-1 which also seems to have magic armor but it's a premium so most users are clueless.
About spalling: This tank is the reason I had much more fun at top tier with the Wiesel 1a2 than with MBTs against Russia. The Wiesel 1a2 could reliably destroy the BVM in one hit with the tandem missile. So the way missile damage worked on this tank model was definitely not broken when I played unlike apparently spalling is. Paradoxically, Wiesel's tandem missile had more trouble destroying NATO tanks in one hit unless I aimed for the ammo rack in the back of their turret. I came back to the game recently but I'm sticking to ~8 br because of the atgm drones. No thanks. So I don't care to find out if the above is still true.
me when I play with my BVM 1 shot and my ammo explodes, every time 1 shot in my fuel tank = dead crew people hit my breech through the turret strongest points, almost always side protection works 10% of the time against kinetic ammunition getting the dumbest teammates almost every time = me maybe i'm playing a different game lool🤣 but i still love my bvm nice video as always justin.

I love playing this tank but I don’t play it as much because all I have to do usually is hold w and I’m good to go so I mainly play my m1a2 but going up against the t80bvm is a pain sometimes or most of the time I can shoot it anywhere side,front,back and I’ll somehow get a crit, ammo never goes off if it hit it there so I aim for fuel tanks now and on top of that the driver magically offers what feels like 400mm of protection when he eats my sabot round but other than that great video as always!

"Cheap AT manpad" NLAWs and artillery. Nothing cheap about that. Only a handful destroyed, most of the losses were I believe captured, so the T-80BVM is still highly capable. Though not as good as the T-72B3, which for casualties is relatively low as well. Remember not to believe anything that comes from news articles and what not, always make a critical view on it, which is what people are lacking nowadays.

That no spalling effect seems to be some kind of artificial buff Gaijin gave to some vehicles, the same happens to the Abrams. I guess it's there to incentivize aiming for weakspots, since when you hit them like the driver's port or breech they tend to spall a lot

It's the same for almost all ammo at top tier, top tier US and German shells have more pen than the Soviets 2 but get dropped down in WT for balancing purposes.
I don't know about y'all, but when i play the T-Series Tanks, i either get completly wrecked by Ammo or Fuel explosions. I do bounce stuff, but most off the time its off the relikt and not some weird ass shots who just disappear...
i shoot a russian tank: commander + fuel tank, he kills me. I get shot in a russian tank: one shrapnel hits the tip of the fuel tank, i immediately explode
The King of BIAS, the amount of shots you bounced is almost impossible in any other nations tanks, and I have done the same thing somewhat frequently using this tank. I also often get shots on it as other nations that should be a kill shot only to get "HIT" and do no damage. this tank along with the Mig 27K, KA-50/52 and the Mi-28NM are just broken Also yeah M-60's, Panthers and Tigers at top tier? looks like someones been buying the Leo 2 PL /M1A1 AIM, and thats why the russians need a 10.7 squadron vehicle. That way russia would have the same handicap as Germany and the US when it come to new/inexperienced players rushing to top tier

Perhaps a difference in playstyle, but I personally have much better stats (excluding WR of course) in the M1A2 and Leo 2A6/Strv 122s. Imho, it's really the full RU lineup at 11.0 that makes the "bias." BMP-2M, KA-52s, Mig 27s, are what push this lineup over the edge, rather than this vehicle alone.

tbh ERA is no longer the main thing about ussr. it became only protection against kinetic since everywhere you shoot at era with HE, will overpressure and make it useless(thinking about Ito, adats, wiesel.). the only reason i play bvm is because of speed, reverse speed and reload speed. b3 got better protection (20mm plate for ammo, turret front/top composite to block apfsds from spalling downwards, better ufp composite) Still hate that the shot cant spall on any kind of armor and bounces on hstvl. such a sh8t shot for the top. would love 3bm46 instead of this Cool intro

the BVM is such a beast of tank-ive been using it to power grind the event tasks and have fallen in love with it ....paired with the t72b3 the BVM is such a powerhouse
I’m still stocking clips of me getting no sprawling on them or hitting the ammo and nothing. But for the most part I find it easier to kill them than a Leo because you can go through the lower or upper front plate. Oh even now I don’t have high ping around 20s on average 0% packet loss and I have a clip of my round going through ruski crew and doing nothing I guess it’s just that vodka blood
@@taelorpickel2830 yup both use gas turbine engine. It isn't used in game but irl gas turbines are near silent from front of the tank. Abrams had a nickname of "whispering death" due to that.

To be honest I never had a hard time killing russian tanks BVM included but I think they indeed should increase spalling not only for the BVM but for all APFSDS shells since all of them are underperforming but I also think they should decrased the chance of russian fuel tanks to explode especially in the BMPs. But the reason why russia is so strong right now is their CAS not their tanks, my opinion is that CAS in general should cost more spawn points so that only the top 5 performing players per team or so could spawn them and as a counter balance SPAA should be as expensive as tanks. Also they should add an upgrade package for the M1A2 and A1 HC that updated their thermal sights and give an ERA package for all top tier tanks that have them like the Chally, M1A2 and 2A6. I believe those changes would help to reduce russian dominance at top tier as well as US and german dominance at lower tiers because those dominances always come down to mostly CAS. And all that comes from a russian main that plays most nations. Edit: One more thing, I don't think Gaijin has a russian bias because both US and Germany already dominated top tier at some point in the past. Like when the 2A5 and 2A6 were added Germany dominated and when the IPM1 and M1A2 were added US dominated, even Sweden did when they first got added and in top tier whoever got them at their side would win.
disagree 100 percent, I have once shot a bvm 3 tomes directly in the side and not 1 crew died. it's ridiculus...russian tanks themselves are op in my experience, I just think that some people get luckier than others, or you always get very good ping.
@@toyotawitha20mm35 I live in South America, the best ping I can get is 150 in NA servers, and it's not about luck, it's just that because Russia is dominating top tier most good players go play with them to not get stomped every round which then makes russian top tier even more dominant. Reallity is most allied players especially US players right now are really bad and either don't bring or don't have CAS because like I said the good ones that have multiple tech trees are playing Russia. Just yesterday I was playing US/Israel with a friend of mine and even though we both would get at least 5+ kills per match we would still get stomped by a dozen aircraft in the end with the team doing poorly and leaving early. In 2 ocasions me and that friend got, combined, 20+ kills and still lost because the team just wouldn't do anything, out of the 10~15 matches we played we only won 2, one of which just because I managed to get a nuke at the last minute and the other was also a total hard carry.

Sick intro! Justin try the M48 Super again. Its 9.0 now and doesnt fight T90As like a year ago, the last time you tried it. I believe its on a much better line up now with the 1A5 and L44. You can even take it to 9.3 and enjoy the begleit aswell.

It's armor is more of a dumb proof armor. Its takes hits if opponent is missing he's shots or doesn't know where to shoot. You can always pen t80bvm everywhere with old dm33 if you know where you are shooting. But nowadays it's just leo2a6 players expecting to lolpen everything and just shooting ufp and cheecks of t80

@Raphaël Ambrosius Costeau the hit boxes for the ERA are way bigger in the match than in preview, and t80 ammo doesn't detonate most of the time, even when you black out the whole rack.
the t80bvm is biased AF, especially considering the ERA it's designed to have just doesn't exist in real world. they are sent out with rubber pads. RPGs and HEAT are knocking them out IRL. Even on paper, t80bvm ERA cannot stop the 600mm of kinetic pen the 2a5 and 2a6 or even Abrams bring to bear.

I've been avoiding ~11 br and have gone down to ~8. There you have the T-55AM-1 which also seems to have magic armor but it's a premium so most users are clueless.
About spalling: This tank is the reason I had much more fun at top tier with the Wiesel 1a2 than with MBTs against Russia. The Wiesel 1a2 could reliably destroy the BVM in one hit with the tandem missile. So the way missile damage worked on this tank model was definitely not broken when I played unlike apparently spalling is. Paradoxically, Wiesel's tandem missile had more trouble destroying NATO tanks in one hit unless I aimed for the ammo rack in the back of their turret.
I came back to the game recently but I'm sticking to ~8 br because of the atgm drones. No thanks. So I don't care to find out if the above is still true.

11 br is unplayable if you are not russia faction. lost 60-80 percent of the game I play in that br.
I love playing this tank but I don’t play it as much because all I have to do usually is hold w and I’m good to go so I mainly play my m1a2 but going up against the t80bvm is a pain sometimes or most of the time I can shoot it anywhere side,front,back and I’ll somehow get a crit, ammo never goes off if it hit it there so I aim for fuel tanks now and on top of that the driver magically offers what feels like 400mm of protection when he eats my sabot round but other than that great video as always!

Only a handful destroyed, most of the losses were I believe captured, so the T-80BVM is still highly capable. Though not as good as the T-72B3, which for casualties is relatively low as well. Remember not to believe anything that comes from news articles and what not, always make a critical view on it, which is what people are lacking nowadays.

That no spalling effect seems to be some kind of artificial buff Gaijin gave to some vehicles, the same happens to the Abrams. I guess it's there to incentivize aiming for weakspots, since when you hit them like the driver's port or breech they tend to spall a lot

It's the same for almost all ammo at top tier, top tier US and German shells have more pen than the Soviets 2 but get dropped down in WT for balancing purposes.
They have their own penetration calculator and its also just for balance.

The King of BIAS, the amount of shots you bounced is almost impossible in any other nations tanks, and I have done the same thing somewhat frequently using this tank. I also often get shots on it as other nations that should be a kill shot only to get "HIT" and do no damage. this tank along with the Mig 27K, KA-50/52 and the Mi-28NM are just broken
Also yeah M-60's, Panthers and Tigers at top tier? looks like someones been buying the Leo 2 PL /M1A1 AIM, and thats why the russians need a 10.7 squadron vehicle. That way russia would have the same handicap as Germany and the US when it come to new/inexperienced players rushing to top tier

Perhaps a difference in playstyle, but I personally have much better stats (excluding WR of course) in the M1A2 and Leo 2A6/Strv 122s.
Imho, it's really the full RU lineup at 11.0 that makes the "bias." BMP-2M, KA-52s, Mig 27s, are what push this lineup over the edge, rather than this vehicle alone.

tbh ERA is no longer the main thing about ussr. it became only protection against kinetic since everywhere you shoot at era with HE, will overpressure and make it useless(thinking about Ito, adats, wiesel.). the only reason i play bvm is because of speed, reverse speed and reload speed. b3 got better protection (20mm plate for ammo, turret front/top composite to block apfsds from spalling downwards, better ufp composite)
Still hate that the shot cant spall on any kind of armor and bounces on hstvl. such a sh8t shot for the top. would love 3bm46 instead of this

Honestly it gaijin would just fix the Russian mbts spawl issue top tier would be way more balanced cause it so annoying to shoot a tank side on with a 120 mm apfsds and have it do 0 damage to something as well as spaa being able to counter ka-50/52s and the mig 27s as well as the f14 being able to counter them Idk I feel like the spawl bug is the only issue I have with Russia in game
the BVM is such a beast of tank-ive been using it to power grind the event tasks and have fallen in love with it ....paired with the t72b3 the BVM is such a powerhouse

I’m still stocking clips of me getting no sprawling on them or hitting the ammo and nothing. But for the most part I find it easier to kill them than a Leo because you can go through the lower or upper front plate. Oh even now I don’t have high ping around 20s on average 0% packet loss and I have a clip of my round going through ruski crew and doing nothing I guess it’s just that vodka blood
It’s because they have no Armor on the side apart from the relikt that’s why they don’t spall very good

It's offly similar to the Abrams, which is why I end up comparing T-80s to Abrams.
@@taelorpickel2830 yup both use gas turbine engine. It isn't used in game but irl gas turbines are near silent from front of the tank. Abrams had a nickname of "whispering death" due to that.

To be honest I never had a hard time killing russian tanks BVM included but I think they indeed should increase spalling not only for the BVM but for all APFSDS shells since all of them are underperforming but I also think they should decrased the chance of russian fuel tanks to explode especially in the BMPs.
But the reason why russia is so strong right now is their CAS not their tanks, my opinion is that CAS in general should cost more spawn points so that only the top 5 performing players per team or so could spawn them and as a counter balance SPAA should be as expensive as tanks.
Also they should add an upgrade package for the M1A2 and A1 HC that updated their thermal sights and give an ERA package for all top tier tanks that have them like the Chally, M1A2 and 2A6.
I believe those changes would help to reduce russian dominance at top tier as well as US and german dominance at lower tiers because those dominances always come down to mostly CAS.
And all that comes from a russian main that plays most nations.
Edit: One more thing, I don't think Gaijin has a russian bias because both US and Germany already dominated top tier at some point in the past.
Like when the 2A5 and 2A6 were added Germany dominated and when the IPM1 and M1A2 were added US dominated, even Sweden did when they first got added and in top tier whoever got them at their side would win.

disagree 100 percent, I have once shot a bvm 3 tomes directly in the side and not 1 crew died. it's ridiculus...russian tanks themselves are op in my experience, I just think that some people get luckier than others, or you always get very good ping.
I think they should increase the chance of russian tanks exploding 100 percent.
@@toyotawitha20mm35 I live in South America, the best ping I can get is 150 in NA servers, and it's not about luck, it's just that because Russia is dominating top tier most good players go play with them to not get stomped every round which then makes russian top tier even more dominant.
Reallity is most allied players especially US players right now are really bad and either don't bring or don't have CAS because like I said the good ones that have multiple tech trees are playing Russia.
Just yesterday I was playing US/Israel with a friend of mine and even though we both would get at least 5+ kills per match we would still get stomped by a dozen aircraft in the end with the team doing poorly and leaving early. In 2 ocasions me and that friend got, combined, 20+ kills and still lost because the team just wouldn't do anything, out of the 10~15 matches we played we only won 2, one of which just because I managed to get a nuke at the last minute and the other was also a total hard carry.
