So the general consensus is that it's too expensive and I have to agree... but I'm also curious how big their margin is? There's a lot of steel and fabrication that's gone into the build and shipping is nightmare expensive, I wonder how low they could get the price and it still be profitable? 🤔
How much is it
@@orvonteleach 3.5k usd
Cooler Master have done an incredible job here, assuming their aim was to demonstrate they're completely out of touch with the market they're attempting to enter.
Hear hear!
Well said. I'd rather spent that money on the sleek Monkeydriver cockpit. It's an artpiece!
You mean the market where just wheel rims can cost upwards of £2000, pedals can cost £2000 each, wheelbases cost £1500 or more, H shifters can cost upwards of £1000. I think they've got the pricing right for where they want to enter the market.
Whether or not you think it's worth the money is obviously another question. However not everything needs, or should be, affordable for everybody.
@@slaphead90 the point is they are trying to 'enter' the market, with an astronomically high priced entry. Anyone with a brain, won't buy this. The adjustment is laughable, entering the rig is idiotic. Karl has to lean back and angle his feet into and forward and drop onto the side rails of the seat and slide over. My TR160 rig I simply step straight into and sit.
@@slaphead90 I don't even think it looks that good in my opinion, it's not affordability that's the problem people buy lots of expensive stuff if they deem its desirable. I guess time will tell what the sim racing market make of this of this cockpit if it sells well or not. Definitely wouldn't be on my most wanted list.
That price is outrageous. You could get two alum rigs easily for that
You could indeed mate.
Or almost a Dof Reality H3, etc...
@@MrCrrispyYou could get a H2, and still have money left over to add the seat :)
Neat product but that price point is bonkers. I don't know why anyone would choose this over the number of much cheaper profile rigs that are available.
I guess purely for the looks? Like the Vesaro rigs.
Think I would go with the playseat trophy at 75% cheaper than this if i had to choose
what exactly is a profile rig?
@@_SPR1GZYman your super green. Down the rabbit hole we go
@@_SPR1GZY aluminum profile like 8020
Once again, a brutally honest review from Karl. Thats why I come here first for Sim Racing reviews.......the honesty. Great job!
Cheers!
This is probably one of the best sim rigs i have seen, especially coming from cooler master I expect nothing shabby and for their first product I’m interested to see how they grow
I bought a set
The texture is great
However, the seats would need additional chutes, which would be more convenient.
It takes time to adjust to the optimal sitting posture
Cost $3224
Thanks for all the effort on this video Karl!!! I know these types of videos take a lot of work so well done. I'd be interested in your opinion, given the price, wouldn't you be better off to start looking into motion platforms?
Thanks mate, just moving this beast around was hard work! lol
A good motion system (Not DIY) is £4+ and then you need a very solid cockpit to bolt it too.
Great video. Ridiculous price - that wheel deck flexes more than my home built wooden sim rig.
Wheel deck doesn't flex at all mate, it's either the tubular sections or it's sinking into my carpet as said.
@@KarlGosling Ahh yes you are right - it's the tubular section that's the cause of the wheelbase/deck moving.
2grand no way , nice try cooler master but much better options out there for less money!! lovely cat karl by the way
She's a beauty isn't' she!
@@KarlGosling what type of cat is she
i started with a gt prime with a g29 with wheels pushed it up to my desk with a cheap ebay seat. that is how i sated watching your videos
at that price maybe they needed to do more market research
Someone in their market research department needs firing 🤣 This price is wild! 😅
Companys just throwing products at us just to make a buck. You know some poor old man on a budget is gonna get scammed with this monstrosity of a rig. 🤦
@mercenarysaw This is very well put. For the enthusiast, like most of us probably watching this, we are safe. But some poor person exactly as you said is going to equate price to quality and buy this abomination.
nice to see more mainstream manu's getting into sim racing. competition, choice, options are great for the hobby. maybe they'll get into the DD market in the future.
They are coming out with a DD wheel base!
Appreciate the in depth review here, from your use do you think if you were able to front mount the wheel base instead of plate mounting it would have sat in a better spot for the overall rig? Or would the base still stick up?
Meaning when adjusting from get to formula
It will always tilt up as you're lowering the front and raising the back of the whole rig, you could mount the wheel base lower but it's where I want it in this video.
@@KarlGoslingright, kinda what I expected but was hoping that wouldn’t be the case. Thinking I’ll go next level racing fgt and put the extra money to nicer pedals 👍🏻 thanks again for your in depth reviews and comments.
I love how the cat was in the box 80% of the build up
I think she was in 80% of the video too! lol
Waiting on delivery of my ASR6 from Advanced Sim Racing. I added a seat, shift plate, handbrake plate, attached monitor stand, mouse plate, keyboard stand/arm, and three hooks. All quality gear. All of that for just a smidge under 1600 in US dollars. Yeah that's shipping to the States from Canada, and yeah that 15 percent off for their November sale, but still.
Sounds like a good deal mate!
@@KarlGosling I think so. Can't wait for it to get here. It will my first profile rig.
If it came with tripple monitor, shifter, handbrake, mouse, keyboard, mounts than maybe £2000 would be acceptable to a minority.
So we have been running 5 of them at our sim center in Pasadena, CA (with some additional adjustments that I am sure will make it to retail soon). We like it because 8020 rigs are a pain to put together. So after labor, and bulk discounts, the price difference isn't huge. Our rigs also have Sigma DK6 motion, and the weight of this rig makes the motion feel great and is very quiet (there is lots more vibration noise with other rigs). For personal use without motion, the price point is high though and I am not sure the pros outweigh the cons in that case.
Definitely makes sense mate yes.
I also believe they plan on integrated monitor stands. Hence the holes drilled in the top of the crossbars. Maybe
Thank you
They're never going to sell that thing at that price. When I saw a tubular frame I was assuming it was a budget item.
Think Vesaro mate, big market for it in the pro scene... less so for us home users.
@@KarlGoslingI hear ya, but it still seems overpriced to me. It lacks basic features like a shifter mount.
Has someone drilled some extra holes in the pedal plate ? As it looks like a couple of holes are joined together and there was a circular mark on the underside around those holes.
Looks good though. I have always prefered the look of tubular rigs. They are not easy to mount things to pipe section though. No prob for me as I work in an engineering company so can get anything laser cut and made to fit.
Thats how you overlap holes when needed, the marks on the underside are because this is a demo unit and has been setup at a show a few weeks ago.
Agreed on the looks and the difficulty with mounting things.
looks pretty sturdy
They should have released just the sledge without the base pivot unit.
Hello stranger! It's been a long time. I've been keeping eyes on and supporting you!
Long story. Lovely to see you doing so well and still dropping the KG truth bombs! And has one passed and now a certificated Pilot?
You look really well buddy.
Another rushed unrealistic product then. Why go to so much effort, investment and hype to fail the buyer?
The one rig you WOULD deliver 100% perfect, is the one for review . . . . . . .
Hello Mark! Good to see you're still with us mate and thanks for checking in! 😀
I am indeed now a Pilot yes, obtained my license last October in fact.
It's just too much money for the mainstream sim market isn't it.
@@KarlGoslingThanks for the response buddy. Apols for the delay, juggling a lot. Massive congratulations on achieving your bucket tick list! What an acolade - Their's you flying them, here's me jumping out of them 😁weird bunch aren't we.
It's too much money full stop. The market is now getting saturated, as I predicted. Everyone wants a piece of the pie now and a lot of landfill is being designed and manufactured. Not one brand has ever asked what the end user wants, just manufactures what they think they want.
So you're paying 2k for a Playseat Trophy with a tilt function?
I know what a joke
A much more rigid and adjustable Playseat Trophy (Or GT Omega Titan)... but yes.
Couple of phone books and you're sorted.
Where I live (Australia) I saw this advertised for $999, and I thought, that looks nice, but then I read the ad and that price was for the seat alone !!!! They want another 2 grand + for the frame, WTF !!!!
For 2000$$$ I was expecting a 4 dof movement with it!! Not just a few steel tubes!?
£2200 ... What ?!!!! Why? ... absolute nuts
love the ingenuity of the design, priced way too high though. Hopefully coolermaster will see the light. Thanks for the review Karl! well done.
Agreed mate.
Adjustability is never that simple. I built an aluminium profile rig with all sorts of 4mm custom steel plates for different mounting options. But what I didn't realise is that once things are mounted and screwed in place and bearing some weight even with quick release levers. They are not as easily adjusted on the spot. In fact to be safe in most instances its safest to remove the hardware from the mount. Then adjust the mount into its needed position and then re mount the piece of hardware.
86in tv! 😮😎 even though the CM rig looks good, it doesn’t look £2k+ good 🤷♂️
Yeah this is my home "cinema" setup, agreed mate it does look nice just too much money for most.
If you mount that base front mount tray upside down it will be much better. The base will be almost 3 inches lower.
The wheel base is where I wanted it mate, but yes you can go lower.
I would not care about the price (it's not that high) the main thing bothers me it's the fact you can't upgrade it to a motion platform, and the different positions are totally wrong. It's not enough to rotate the whole thing to have a correct position, you actually need a different seat, plus change rotation and position of both wheel and pedals.
There is a motion system coming specifically for this (I did mention it in the video) but the driving positions are a bit of a compromise and no one offers hot swap seats for example... nice idea though!
Keyboard tray? Shifter mount? Button box mount?
It looks nice but terrible entry ergonomics.
Yeah I left footage of me getting in and out as for some with mobility issues it might be too difficult.
Phew, wallet not at all worried by this. Price point is mad.😊
Karl, would you recommend this cockpit for commercial use?
That depends what exactly you are doing, maybe... but an aly profile rig might be better.
I don't see why someone would choose this over an 80/20 rig. Sure, it's mildly prettier but there are still better looking cockpits than this. On Karl's review recommendation I bought the GT Omega Prime (thanks for the 5% discount btw, hope you made a commission from that!) and I'll never look back. It's not too expensive, good looking enough, and built like a tank.
Thanks mate appreciate you using my code!
You'd only really buy this is you have money to burn, love the look and need the driving position adjustment.
I work at SCAN where they had this rig, is this the same one?
Yes I believe so, it was the only one in the UK at the time IIRC.
@@KarlGosling cool, it still dissappears from time to time haha
Looks like a great solid bit of kit, but for 2 grand id want a place to add my shifter and handbreak without need to spend extra money of supports for it
Agreed.
This rig looks like a Playseat Trophy on steroids 💪🏻😁
Or a GT Omega Titan!
that looks like a big footprint though even an 8020 rig isn't as bid as that is it looks wide as hell
i saw cooler master and was like going to be pricey lol they make some nice pc cases and other stuff
I paid $850 for my sim lab p1x and bought a nrg seat for $200 mine you that was a couple of years ago.
I could get a very high end pofile rig with a Sparco seat for that price. No thanks. Thanks for the video.
👍
Balls deep. Lmao
If you really look at the pedal tray there is flex. you really need to look at the back of the pedal tray
Are you sure thats not the pedals base plate lifting where it's only bolted down on one side? Thats what I can see in the footage.
£2 thousand bucks you have got to be kidding 😂.
got my whole setup. rig, seat, wheel, pedals, shifter for less xD
Thanks, if it’s that pricey it’s not for me. Looks nice though.
Fair enough!
Does it have motion at this price? WTF 😂
Great vid Karl, but they have so gone down the wrong road, the X1 Pro from sim lab with seat and monitor mount is just under 2k. Why didnt they consult top esports sim racers instead. Tbh its the worst value for money I've seen in a long time.
I think if we compare it to other high end tubular rigs like Vesaro thats where it fits in (although I think the are way too expensive also), ally profile rigs are always better value.
Your keyboard is calling to me 😍 what is it?
amzn.to/3FXGXkg
it looks good and looks like it is built well but for 2k, you cna build a alum rig for less
Yeah it is very well built and very solid, but also very expensive.
you could buy 3.5 prime lites for that lol
You could!
£2k 😮😮😮
Entering a saturated market with a high cost, poorly designed product is a bold strategy. Like I get the ambition to have as many sku's on the books as possible, but I gotta wonder how many custom aluminum profile workstations they walked passed in the CM warehouse to come up with this abomination.
2000 bux?
Damn really?? It’s a play seat trophy seat with an adjustable seat. 1200 would be reasonable but dam 2000 grand lol!
At this price perhaps they should just stick to making computer cases and keyboards:)
Not even after a 1-year diet, I would fit into this baby seat. I love my GT Omega XL. Why side stability in the living room? 🤦🏻
Side stability?
@@KarlGosling not sure about the translation: bucket seat? Makes no sense in a static setup.
£2000!!!!!!!!!!
TWO THOUSAND POUNDS?!?!?!?!
Literally no one will buy this…
I don’t think they did one single minute of market research before making this…
That is some horrible build quality for the price. Hoo boy, Cooler Master exiting the sim space before they even got into it.
In fairness it's very well built using good quality nut, bolts, washers and tools (best I've seen) it's just that weld spatter and pedal tray clearance issue that needs attention.
How much ? 1600 cockpit without the seat ? So this company has stupid marketing ppl.. good luck hooking motion or shaker with that rig. Thank you cooler master you can continue doing fans and cases
Cooler Master have their own motion system coming that will bolt straight on... but yes I agree it's very expensive for what you get.
£1.6k rig flexes /end
This or a Prime Lite. Tough choice lol obscene price
Value for money... Prime Lite all day long.
You'd need to be daft to buy this.
Price😳
Yeah...
That price is ridiculous. And it’s a bit of monstrosity.
I personally like the look but I agree it's too much money.
Cooler master did this. Its strange
Scrap it and start over.
I am gonna buy this and put logitech g920 on it 😂
Blow all your budget on the rig! lol
2300€ for that...im sorry but a good Extrusion Rig from like Trackracer is 10 times more worth it lmao alone
Oh WOW $2'500 for this with the seat jeez man they aren't even trying to be competitive at all watch you said theyre gonna produce pedals and bases they'll make a 8Nm base and want 2'000 dollars or something of that like kinda sad what the PC industry is turning into it really breaks my heart companies like this are making an it hard for anyone to get into PC's and are pushing everyone to consoles simply because PC's have become unobtainable for your average consumer
Man it’s expensive! The trackracer 8pro looks 10 better and you can actually afford it
The rigidity and finish on this is worse than my GT Omega Titan, which has the same type of tubular frame and comes in at less than £500 with a seat. Sure, there's less metal and you don't have the angle adjustment; but no way that's worth an extra £1700.
If you want the modularity, a Prime with seat is around £700.
I feel CoolerMaster have over-engineered this; not focusing on the right things. If they lost the base section entirely and just had the sled (much like the Titan), I think this would be a better, cheaper and more desirable product.
A hair under 6ft, 186 kilos? Either you've filled your shoes with lead, or this is your subtle way of telling us you're emigrating stateside.
lol I meant 86kg's!
Build quality looks cheap, pedal plate with gouging at front and probably not square as washers rattling, and don't start me off about that welding as I use to be a welder and them mig welds look like they've been done by an apprentice and totally inexcusable leaving weld splatter (probably never even used anti splatter spray either). China made wrote all over it plus cheap design on locking mechanisms (even nuts and bolts look ugly and cheap)
I was like what is cooler master and why does that logo look familiar? crazy they are into this! Their board must have demanded the price. I love the design.
If this is a final production product it has failed in my eyes . The price point is way to high for for a working man. Personally that would have never left the shop. The paint looks like its sprayed on. If you lok really close it looks like rust is under the paint where you pointed out the weld spatter. The welds look like they should have turned the amps up on the welder. Total thumbs down for me.
Yeah it could be painted, I just assumed powder coat.
@@KarlGosling Poor QC Poor workmanship. Unbelievable price. I am a welder/ fabricator/Union Ironworker Local 808. There’s not a ton of work assembly in that design. All the pieces would all be pre bent , drilled or stamped out. It’s probably fit up in a jig for the welding process. A good fast and efficient wire welder could knock it out in an hour tops
Buying one of these is a bit like when people buy ultra high end designer clothing for silly money. When at the end of the day it's just clothing made from some fabric and it's probably a bit inconvenient or uncomfortable to wear. But it's designer or couture so they'll pay top dollar for it anyway. This is a designer rig. Ridiculously overpriced, sounds a bit uncomfortable and inconvenient to use in a real world sense, when it's basically just some steel and a seat... But someone with too much money and not enough sense will buy it.
for that price lol. This has to be a joke.
for 365 euro you can get legit simlab aluminum rig...ok add chair to it....if you want to go cheap, you can probably get OMP seat for 200 or less.
So for about 600 quid you can have way more flexible rig to which you can mount literally anything and you will have zero flex even if you decide to make babies on it.
Someone at coolermaster needs to get fired for not doing market research.
They are competing with the likes of Vesaro, there's a massive market for it... take a look mate.
@@KarlGosling I don't think they do...Vesaro however overpriced it is (250 Pounds for gear stick mount) is on another level with their offer. For the price of a real car you can get plug and play system including sound, VR, screen etc not to mentioin motion platform.
Cooler master offers not really modular rig (not to a degree of extruded alu rig) for 2000 Sterling. And at that price you do get flex however insignificant it may be.
Don't get me wrong if I was wiping me arse with cash I would buy Vesaro or something along those lines and would not think twice about it. However for vast majority of sim racing enthusiasts 2000pounds for bare bones rig / swing is rather silly.
At least with Vesaro you can start with bare bones cockpit and then keep adding stuff if you wish. I may be totally wrong but I can't see how you can add gear stick or handbrake to the CoolerMaster.
But I do agree that the swing feature is great. Especially knowing how big of a pain is adjusting Alu rigs. Not worth 1400 pounds though IMHO.
Have fun trying to sell that shit with your reputation as a PC components company already being iffy... Ain't nobody buying that over the TRX
My gawd it looks like a sleigh.....LOL.
Aesthetically from me, its a big no.
That’s some ugly ugly welding 😂and weld splat omg No Thanks!!
