Something I found that really helped me was adding trackir from my flight sim rig, it allowed me to look around with the more narrow FOV of a single monitor while having much less of a hit to my FPS compared to triples
One thing worth considering to add to your setup is some kind of haptic feedback on your pedals, especially brake with ABS or wheels lockup. Simagic offers dedicated solution but you can also use small bass shakers. I'm using bass shakers on each pedal and it helped me a lot to understand the car and my driving style
Would love to see a video where you break down what your practice schedule looks like for a specific race. For instance, your Daytona 24hr practice schedule, or for a similar race
I just upgraded my 49" Odyssey G9 to the new 57" G9, and that extra panel real estate makes a huge difference, I've always found the vertical height of the 49" version to be it's only weakness, the 57" version solves this 100%, plus the extra width completely fills your entire periphery, expensive AF but so worth it
@scott501 Can a RTX 2070 Super run that 57” ? I now use triples 5760x1080 and ACC is a no go for me. IRacing is pretty high FPS with some low-mid-high settings so I guess not enough power for 57” …?
You're absolutely spot on about sim racers never being completrly happy with what theyve got! Ive got a Moza R9 and Asetek Forte pedals that im lucky if i use it more than once a week and im still thinking about small upgrades and adjustments here and there 😂

Class!! Honestly it’s taken a few years and a few buying mistakes (fanatec I’m looking at you) but I’m so happy with my gear and it’s great to see a pro using a similar setup.
Hey James, how about doing a video that shows us your routine leading up to a big race? Like what you do in the days, or week, or weeks leading up to an important race - your practice schedule, what things you work on, your sleep schedule, your pre-race meal, etc. Or do you just “wing it”?
As a VR user it’s extremely interesting that u mainly use it for practicing for IRL. Just curious too, have you ever tried to fight for a vr only competition? Ik most people don’t in Esports cause of wearing it for long practice stints (and in Gran Turismo I get screwed by missing information like gaps and when people are putting) but I feel like it would be extremely fun to watch an all VR Esports series
Oh yah if u see this too, personally I’m just on a Logitech Pro (best part of my setup) with a basic GTR simulator rig that I won, and I have a tv for stuff like acc and f1 when I’m having fun, but pretty much my main source of fun atm is running PSVR2 on GT7. I’m also competing in a league with an R8G driver (kylian) and a bunch of other world tour guys trying to push VR use and show it can still be just as rapid as it is fun and immersive
I have a similar setup, just with SC2 Pro, 3 Buttkickers plus four Dayton shakers build into my GS-5 with G-Belt. A Frex H-shifter I still recommend because it feels much better than your Fanatec as well as my HE handbrake V1, which I even use rarely in WRC. The Ultimate+ I've modded with a strong pressure spring, so two springs and one elastomer. I think it performs better because the pedal is more glued to my foot and less mushy feel and I can feel the Buttkickers a bit better. You don't want Simucube active pedals? Without Buttkickers they would probably would add some feedback you just get through the base only. I feel like blind without my tactile feedback and that's the main reason I don't even have Rennsport installed.
PS: My rig actually feels finished. Thought about switching the G9 with an OLED 49" (Philips seems better than Samsung), but they only come with R1800 and the more aggressive curve was the main reason I've bought the G9.
Nice rig, for esports I don't think motion is the way to go, although it's more immersive, I definitely find it harder to be as fast when motion is involved. Simucube active pedals are cool, just so bloody expensive🤣
@@Jaaames Me too, but the GS-5 with G-Belt I wouldn't put in the category 'motion' and would call it haptic feedback. It has no negative influence on lap-times as far as I can tell, rather positive, for me at least. Feels more like driving a road-car on a country-road than a real racecar, but with 6 DOF instead of the 3 DOF, you would usually get for that price. For better grip-feel the Buttkickers are more helpful depending on the game. For example I love EA WRC despite the FFB is very dampened, because a lot of additional road-details I get through the rest. It feels like a huge benefit and similar with Forza. In other titles like iRacing it just seems more immersive, but can't feel the car any better and similar with ACC.

I think starting out, go for the single monitor. Down the line you can always give triples a go, but they are overall more expensive & trickier to setup. Personal preference of course.

There was a slight increase in detail moving to the Simucube Ultimate, but nothing crazy. It's a big jump in price as well. Heusinkveld have always had my favourite pedals, the Asetek's were only a temporary addition to the rig.
@@Jaaames sorry to dredge up this thread again but can I ask, what is that slight difference in detail you speak of. Like, how does that translate in terms of feel respectively between the wheel bases? Many thanks!
I noticed that straight away. James, you have your flag back to front. The part that's showing should be facing the wall. In this orientation it's technically a distress signal. Once you flip it you might find a few tenths better lap times 😊😊
Sim racing has to be one of the biggest money pits, he said it so accurately. I'm always happy with my new upgrade, which causes me to be unsatisfied with something else. Never ending cycle.

i would love an actual sim rig when i get my own house but im stuck with a desk as so its kinda annoying
That's Quite the sim room but you spend a lot of time racing in there. I wish you and your team all the best this year 👍
Thank you🤝
This may be an odd question, but what have you wrapped your cube controls grips with? I’m trying to do the same but can’t find a material that I like. Thanks!
Tennis racket grip

Love it. Would be never out of the Sim Room.
Lol I try my best to go outside & be a human
i’m starting sim racing soon on acc just waiting on my setup which might take some time due to circumstances but i will see you on the grid,i promise. mark my words, remember this name KongBruh. not a hater but a massive fan! keep up the good work❤
Pro rig , very nice & you do look comfy 🤘🏼🏁
Cheers, yep it's pretty damn comfy😀
This setup is SICK!😍😍
🤝
Weren't you on a SC2 Pro at one point? Did you notice a difference moving to the Ultimate? Also, how come you didn't keep the Asetek pedals?
There was a slight increase in detail moving to the Simucube Ultimate, but nothing crazy. It's a big jump in price as well. Heusinkveld have always had my favourite pedals, the Asetek's were only a temporary addition to the rig.
@@Jaaames thanks for letting me know!
@@Jaaames sorry to dredge up this thread again but can I ask, what is that slight difference in detail you speak of. Like, how does that translate in terms of feel respectively between the wheel bases? Many thanks!
Whats your steering wheel angle? Great video btw! That UW G9 seems perfect for a single screen sim racing setup.
That flag! Turn it round! 😮 🇬🇧
I noticed that straight away. James, you have your flag back to front. The part that's showing should be facing the wall. In this orientation it's technically a distress signal. Once you flip it you might find a few tenths better lap times 😊😊
@@CraigHunterUSA Noted, I'll sort that ASAP😂
I Just bought simgagic alpha with fx Pro wheel, Girro sim pedals (polish brand) and simlab px1 cockpit, i hope it will be enjoyable thing for me 😊
I missed the fov settings.
why nit changing PC instead of screens?
You should try using your second pc as a streaming pc for less stress on the main pc, more frames and less input delay.
Did you mention your pedals?
Does anyone know where to buy that Lit Suzuka track?
be gentle on that clarity filter
I have a TMX with rope and clips on my seat. Hoping to start posting videos so I can invest in a better setup.
💪
Simple and inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
Sim racing has to be one of the biggest money pits, he said it so accurately. I'm always happy with my new upgrade, which causes me to be unsatisfied with something else. Never ending cycle.
„This is my PatriotSIM“
What Duct Tape you used for the Wheel and how much HP does it gain? 🤣
Nlr wheel stand atm, but planing to upgrade to playseat sensation now that i have space for it
Hi James , Nice Setup you have indeed ! Questions do you ever drive in VR ? , If so what are your feelings about it ? Which headsets have you tried ?
I only drive in VR to train for upcoming real life races / tests. I have one of the first editions of the Oculus Rift headset, bought it like 6 years ago, does the job! I should probably upgrade & get a better headset tho.
Nice tour James, very nice setup!! What boots are you using?
Great video James! Keep it up
🤝
The new season of the PESC Allstars starts tonight but you're not in it. Is that a contractual thing because they use the Porsche?
Didn't get an invite mate!
@@Jaaames Let's get a campaign on the go. Jimmer and Jardier are in the list of competitors but neither appeared for the first races at Daytona. There are a few top quality racers. You'd fit right in.
Why do you only use VR for training and not as the default for sim racing?
Videos like this make me want to upgrade from my t150. But still waiting right now to see what happens with the fanatec Situation or one of the moza bundles goes on a good sale.
Is it one PC shared on the simrig and other desk?
One PC for the sim rig, one PC for the desk.
Do you not fancy a blast in the British Touring Car Championship?
High Fps for sim racing?
I've got the same G9 monitor, you've shown ACC fov. Do you have the same fov in iracing or are you using built in calculator to set it up?
I don't use an FOV calculator for any sim. To be honest the FOV used on ACC in this video is how I like it, so I try mimic that whatever sim / car I'm driving.
How do you go from triple 1080s to duel 1440 and gain FPS? Wouldn’t the extra pixels of the 5120x1440 g9 be worse for FPS? Is it because less FOV?
I'm not the only one that wraps my wheel grips with tennis racket tape :)
Is it ok to use racket tape? I asked what wrap he was using.
@@titovs2100 Yes, use an Overgrip not replacement tape though., I use Head Prestige Pro
@@ajmcdaddy4215 Thanks. I will check it out.
Which PEDALS are you using?
We all know that the Suzuka Poster single handedly boost your lap time by at least -0.8 seconds
And the rest
Nice 👍 setup mate …, do you have an extension shaft on the simucube?
Awesome setup mate. and great channel
Hi, Thanks for sharing. Question: What kind of wrap do you have on the wheel?
Its the grip tape used on tennis rackets. Have it on mine as well. gamechanger for those who drive without gloves
amzn.eu/d/0BAg9Cn
I use bicycle bar tape on mine, love it
I see you're using a 49" monitor like me and you only appear to be able to see your left mirror. I struggle with spatial awareness of other cars so I use trackIR. I wondered if triples would help me. How do you see the right side for cars near you? Do you use a radar app?
What is that you have put on your steering wheel
amzn.eu/d/0BAg9Cn
:000 honey wake up, James Baldwin posted
Where are those painting/poster's from?
Do you have the three soft rubbers for your brake or do you have 2 soft rubbers and some of the blocks?
how do you get a normal looking stream when streaming on an ultrawide?
I just set the canvas resolution to 1080p in SLOBS, the sides of the monitor don't make it into the stream, it only captures the middle bit
@@Jaaames cheers thanks
Thanks man it’s real good but where can I get stand
how high are your pedals / heelplate relative to your seat?
Just below it, almost the same height tbh, so my legs are fairly straight & not too low.
Hi james, may i kno what is the cpu cooler, pc case, and the psu u used?
Have you ever tried vx pros or vrs pedals? I need to change mine. I have v3s but am going to sell them..
Haven't tried vx pros. Have used the VRS pedals before, they are okay, prefer Heusinkvelds for sure tho.
What on earth is that wrap around the wheel rim??
amzn.eu/d/0BAg9Cn
@@Jaaames it was really a question of why.....it looks a mess.
How did you set up your FOV and settings with G9 and ACC pls?
