I love Formula 1. This isn’t just a car race, it’s a massive group science competition. Ten teams are all fighting to be first, and on every team there are hundreds of people, spending millions of dollars, all working together to push technology to its limit.
In this video, we’re gonna show you what it takes to build and drive some of the fastest and most expensive cars in the world. We’ll give you rare access into a factory in England where they build these cars and into a garage in Bahrain where they race them. This is Formula 1 cars, explained!
One note because it’s important to me you never be confused about what is paid for and what isn’t: Oracle comped my flights, but didn’t have any say in the editorial and didn’t see the episode before it went live. The Red Bull F1 Team did not pay me, had no say in the editorial, and didn’t see the episode before publish either. Everything I say here is entirely my own.

I think it'd be cool if one of the teams released something like this after a major regulation change covering the previous regulations, showing how they built the engine, some of the aerodynamic intricacies of that generation, etc. Very unlikely that'd ever happen as I'd imagine even that could give out secrets, but this is about as close as anyone's gonna get otherwise. I've been following F1 since around 1983, and as many others have said in the comments, this is one of the best documentaries I've watched on F1. Very, very well done. What sets it apart from other documentaries is the scope, showing that everything, the car design, manufacture, pit crew, drivers, and strategy, must work at their peak. It was really cool to see Hannah Schmitz representing the strategy team. Red Bull's strategy has been just perfect; it's mind-boggling how they can get it right every single time, even when the strategy seems odd for a fan (one of those "why are they doing that?!" moments), and then after the race is usually "yeah, they were spot-on on the strategy". Great video.

An interesting characteristic of modern f1 engines is that they doesn´t use a direct sparkplug for igniting the mixture, the use a pre combustion chamber (turbulent jet ignition) to inject jets of fire to the cylinder chamber (it´s like a mini flamethrower inside each cylinder). This allows the engine to be able to achieve complete combustion with very lean air/fuel mixture, this is one of the reasons of the high thermal efficiency of these engines.
Is great to start seeing this technology arriving to road cars, like the Maserati MC20.
    Great video btw!

Having worked in motor racing for a few years at a global racing team, in the capacity of a race engine race builder, I can tell you that I not only enjoyed watching this well produced video, but Cloe did a fantastic job in balancing the technical parts with the everyday parts of motor racing to help the casual fan/observer of motor racing to gain a little more knowledge of things work in that world.
She was awesome in how she went about explaining the entire working of a topflight racing team, like Red Bull. Her good looks and great physical figure are almost a distraction to her very natural and superb journalistic talent. She was thoughtful, gracious and very polite when asking for permission to view and touch certain things.
Racing teams and specialized fields of engineering (like aeronautics, aerospace, etc.) appreciate that behavior. Well done, Cleo. You are awesome !

0:55 DRS flaps hinge from the top, not the middle
5:33 Wrong direction around Bahrain Circuit
    7:31 Same wrong DRS animation
15:16 It's Energy Recovery System, not Reduction. That would defeat the point of the system

They clearly hinge from the top and not the middle. 1:06 in the FP2 footage from this weekends Aus GP shows it. The point of it hinging there is to maximise the gap between the bottom plane and the top plane. Hinging in the middle would create more drag.
Also at 8:32 in this video we can see the hinge points on the rear wing, and they're at the top of the wing plane instead of the middle.
