Wonder what the details are: when was it built, who built it, who is buried there.? Extremely impressive. Someone should take the lead and clean it out, eliminate the graffiti.
Yes, indeed I think someone should get it cleaned up or have the national trust see if they can take ownership of it and look after it to ensure it doesn’t get subjected to more vandals
This Victorian mausoleum (Grade 2 listing building) was built in the 1870s for the Assheton-Smith family, which owned the Faenol estate and the giant Dinorwig slate quarry. The building includes a bell tower and parts are in the Gothic style. It is the final resting place of some members of a quarry-owning family. One of the family members buried there is George William Duff Assheton-Smith (1848-1904). He married Maud Assheton-Smith. Usually women took their husbands’ surnames after marriage, but it was the other way round. His father is Robert George Duff (1817-1890) served in the British Army, 12th (The East Suffolk) Regiment of Foot, Ensign in 1836, made Lieutenant in 1838, and Captain in 1842. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant of Caernarvonshire sometime between 1852 and 1860.
I know of another abandonned chapel and graveyard, in a valley not too far from Llandovery on the way over to Lanpetter. A sad, very quiet sort of little place. It intrigued me enough to stop and investigate it and, although I'm a pretty rational soul, it somehow didn't feel as if I should be there.
Will have to have a look for that one. Yeah, I know what you mean. A few years back I did an abandoned care home and there was something unsettling and off about it. All 3 of us that were there, all felt the same way about being inside there.
Yes, I agree! Pictures I’ve seen since I explored this place shows there’s more graffiti over the walls, which is such a shame to see this building become in this state.
Thank you! 🙏🏻 Never thought about that. Yeah, it would of been a very tight squeeze to get a coffin around the corners. Unless they carried the bodies down and put them in stone tombs maybe.
@@urbexingwithjayden the only other option would be to upend them which would mess up the positioning of the body in the coffin. Although...in one view, it looked as though the floor above was made of loose "railway sleepers" so perhaps these could be moved to lower them in ?
Yes, it’s such a beautiful place! It is a shame that it’s been subjected to graffiti, some people really have no sense of their actions and how disrespectful it is.
Why is it that these places are always labeled as "Abandoned" just because nobody is there? It seems that the word is used so freely, perhaps in an unsuccessful effort to justify people breaking the law? I never knew (and don't believe) that most of the stuff on RUclips in this world was/is abandoned. Just about every vacant building is still somebody's property...........
Why are you even watching abandoned videos? Some of the most successful people in the world are urban explorers, you sound just like an old fart with no clue than a keyboard warrior that needs a slap. 👋
All the 3s Jayden. Outstanding production. Gets a sub and like from me. Well done spookily good
Thank you very much!

I thought the same. It’s so beautiful and now, decaying.

May I ask where is this roughly? So interesting
Bangor - Wales
An amazing place. Should be protected in a trust - yet uts already being desecrated by vandals using graffiti

The first floor was most likely a chapel. Burial under ground. It’s so beautiful. Shame it’s falling into decay and being vandalized.
What beats me is how would they have managed to get a coffin round all those tight corners ?
Cheers guys, thanks for the film.
Thank you! 🙏🏻

Hey
Remarkably uninteresting...absolutely no dialogue.... The music was nice and atmospheric though....
