The structure of these homes reminds me of the ancestral Pueblo cliff dwelling people of the Southwest USA, check out the walls of Chaco Canyon. The rocks are piled in the same exact fashion, my ancestors from Wales married Native Americans when they arrived centuries ago, it's intriguing to see the similarities in ancient cultures.

My Taid (welsh for grandad) was a retired miner in north wales, his face had a blue hue from the years of coal settling into his skin. He was an amazing, incredible guy and we would sit in the coal shed for hours while he told me stories and how important the life you had was the one you should be living to the full. I never thought it odd at all that we spent so much time sitting amongst the coal, but i guess that was his quiet place. I loved every minute of his time.

What a wonderful real life story, one to hand down to your own children. Use his words and his own stories he told you to make your life more fulfilling.
We used to have an old coal store and I'd often emerge from it covered in coal dust until one day I came home from school and my coal laden den had been dismantled and was just bricks.
So I built my own den from the bricks with no knowledge (Hey I was 7) and used to play in my own built brick den that probably wasn't safe, but it was waterproof using the old door as a roof. Then one day I came home and found it all gone... my Mum explained that bricks were dangerous if not put together correctly with cement and interlaced. Not sure what words she used exactly but she basically said she had the brick removed for my safety.
Didn't take away my go cart made from the kitchen table and silver cross wheels that I'd fly down the quite steep roads we lived on. Steep enough that even today you have to start in 1st to go up the hill, anything low powered would struggle, I Loved my Go cart ❤ Hahaha. H&S ....nope!

You have inspired me with the story of your grandfather, I shall write about mine. His name was Arthur and that is my middle name to honour him. He was just the right (or maybe wrong) age to have served in both world wars but despite injuries he survived them. In peace times he was a railway guard in the times of steam and once guarded the Royal Train on a visit to Portsmouth. He had many hobbies and interests in his families' small rented Victorian terraced house. Very sadly he died from the big C when I was 8 y.o, probably the smoke from the steam engines was in his lungs, I don't remember him as a smoker or drinker, he was too busy with his creative passtimes. I still have the last letter that he wrote in his life and so badly wish that I could have known and learned from him for longer.
I shall definitely write more about him but don't know where to publish my words. Ideas anybody?

The cave was not for someone so tall as you. 😳 The houses with basements must have been root cellars where they kept potatoes, carrots, Apples etc so they’d be nice and cold and last over the winter months to keep who lived there fed. We all are seeing history through your cameras eye with you leading us Adam. Thank you so very much, you’re so appreciated. Nature never ceases to amaze. I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s so incredibly beautiful. All the stone is dry stack,no mortar to keep them together. Yet there they are still so solid. I almost expected you to run into Frodo and friends 😂. Thank you so much for taking us to see this.
