For it to still be relatively fresh the person didn't die that long ago which explains the receipt because why would a squatters leave a receipt in that odd spot I think the husband died years ago qnd the wife lived after with the property just rotting around her then she died not too long ago that explains why food in cupboards in date and I do think tho kids been in since then being dicks having a beer trashing it making it even worse of a messy state

I lost my wife to cancer nearly 3 years ago. As part of dealing with her "estate" I came to realise something - don't bother collecting "things" because at the end of the day, when you are no longer around, all of the things you buy in life or collect end up in one of only 3 places.... Friends, family or it gets dumped.
And the vast majority is dumped because most families can't take on your "stuff"..

Just a thought, if that person had passed away that many years ago the smell would not still be that strong, what if the squatter passed away recently in that bed? That would explain the food and beer and the strong smell of death.

    • @TheGrumpyEnglishman
      @TheGrumpyEnglishman 11 месяцев назад

Believe me, the smell of decomposition lingers for years. The bacteria in body fluids has to be destroyed completely. If left in mattresses and bedclothes, in a damp environment, the smell will be ever present.

    • @SnowyAspenHills

Someone probably passed away on the hospital bed, as you say most likely the squatter passed away on the other bed.

I think that technically depends on what, or whom owns the estate - or if that is known. If he was the last descendent, with no relatives, then it potentially returns to the state to resolve - but only a solicitor with knowledge of the legacy will stuff would know. And that can be complex.

Sadly this can happen to the best of us, I had a distant uncle who was a bit of a hermit, and lived alone from the age of 55 to when he passed at 89. He was found after his kids couldnt raise him so got the Police to visit - he had sadly left us by then for several weeks.
In his case, his house was sorted, his world and belongings packaged up - and he had a will to leave everything to his kids.
Clearly this sad example has no lone left behind to leave their world and belongs too - even the photos suggest they were known to younger people - who should inherit this legacy and resolve it.

    • @LMAODOODZ

Not everyone keeps in touch and many people are left alone because of how they treat others. It's the cold hard truth but not everyone deserves to to be cared for when they are toxic towards family. Not saying this is one of those situations. The trophy hunting material in the home makes me feel they weren't good people to begin with. Anyone who would pay for something like elephant ivory isn't a good person.

The next thing I did was to do through all my clothes and what I had not worn in a hear, I donated to Salvation Army here in the US. They take everything. Then I sent back through my papers and bills and enjoyed shredding them because they had my personal info on them. I shredded those that I did not need to keep for tax records. Now I shred once a year what I do not need for tax records. Just some thoughts.

Thanks for this video, there were some very old and beautiful furniture in there it's to bad that it will be lost to nature, how sad. I agree with you both this house is a big mystery but like you said there must be someone living there, how do there stand the oder. Thanks for being so considerate and warning us of the one bedroom, I didn't look but you two were brave to go in there. Thanks again and have a happy New Year! Take care

Hi Dave and Marky so nice to see you together again. Hopefully you family is doing well. This would have been a nice home. So sad to see it the way, seems like the homeless have found it. The cat food can understand if they are trying to catch a cat. Just heartbreaking that he passed with no one

Even better that you found such an amazing place to explore! Time capsules are my personal favorite.....but knowing that someone passed and no one knew for a while makes it that much more sad. Hopeful that they didn't suffer while they were alone. Hurts my heart to think someone was suffering and weren't able to get help. 😢

Am trying to figure out how many things remain undamaged for many y yrs. Apparently here in Africa due to presence of termites
It's rare to find abandoned houses coz within a yr many are brought down n all furnitures are eaten up.

Hi Dave and Marky! It is really good to see Marky back with you hopefully he will continue to explore with you. That house is horrible I’m glad you and Mark had a mask on. It’s sad to see places like that it looks to me someone has came in and trashed it. Maybe there are homeless people living in it and maybe the food belongs to them. It is strange with the food dates . Thank you guys so much for sharing your exploring with us. Take care and stay safe. Love you guys. Xx

I live in apts, and about 10 yrs. ago a neighbor across the way died. He didn't seem to have anyone. I might have been the closest person to him at this time. Nice guy kept to himself, pretty much stayed in his apt reading. We used to exchange books till my bf at the time made a remark to him, then he stopped giving me the books he read.
Anyway I noticed I hadn't seen him around, but was busy with work, etc, so I didn't investigate for a few weeks. Sadly he had been in there all that time decomposing.
Weeks after they got him out, the coroner called me, and asked me to ID him. It was weird because they didn't ask me to look at his remains, but to describe him. Most of which they couldn't see due to extreme decomp. Everything he had was trashed.

Hi Dave and Marky, that place is probably more than ten years abandoned. I thought maybe the surviving one became an alcoholic after the passing of the other one, then started hoarding. The food and cat food doesn't make sense, if the smell is so bad how could they sleep there. That is definitely a strange one. Thanks for sharing. Glad you two are back together. Love from N.Y.

I know the smell, you never forget it.I had to clear my dad's house after he'd been dead for 2 months on his sofa. He was unrecognisable. One room filled with empty cans and bottles. The rest looked pretty much like this. His house was burgled in those 2 months. They ignored him dead while stealing his TV. Anything we took for remembrance stunk like it too. It absorbs into everything.

Always wonderful videos Dave. Please never stop exploring. I could probably never be a true explorer because even though I love the idea for one I dislike creepy crawlies and another is Im a big hoarder of the past myself and it would kill me to leave behind some of the old relics you find knowing they will either be damaged or taken by someone just looking to make a profit or that eventually they will no longer have withstood the elements and are lost forever. Things we remember from happier times,(the main reason Im an vintage hoarder) or things our children or children's children will never know and even with stories you miss out on the actual feeling hands on sense. Too bad that someone couldn't create an abandoned museum where a handful of objects from each explore could be saved forever without diminishing from another true explorers joy. Fanciful wishing I'm certain. Anyways thanks for all your hard work to share. Wishing you and your crew safe adventures always.
