If you want to really interview her, take history text books from class 6 to 10 and ask her to answer 1. why mughals and other Muslim Kings are glorified. 2.Why the atrocities and bigotry of these rules were not called out. 3. Romila Thapar herself acknowledges in the interview that the dominant version of ancient Indian history is a narrative of a group of historians who approach history in a particular fashion. The ilk of Romila Thapar that you are in complete awe of are as much of propagandists as historians, inspired and guided by how Karl Marx himself viewed ancient Indian history! Marx had sheer contempt for the Indian civilization and held that the only things that were good about it were the contributions of the invaders. It is not surprising, at all that Romila Thapar and her ilk eulogize the Islamic invaders and go to any ridiculous extent to whitewash the atrocities they committed on the indigenous Indian population. The center piece of this Marxist narrative of Indian history is the nonsensical Aryan Invasion Theory which has been repeatedly debunked since the 1980's. Why do Romila Thapar and her ilk stick to the Aryan Invasion Theory even after it has been established that there is no historical, archaeological, archaeozoological, textual or linguistic evidence that corroborates it? We all have seen how the intellectual hypocrisy of the Romila Thapars and Irfan Habibs was exposed on the Ramjanambhoomi issue.
I agree with Romila Thapar to some extent that the right wing intellectuals did not have enough bench strength to offer a counter narrative, but let me ask her how her ilk and their political patrons treated the likes of RC Majumdar and Jadunath Sarkar who presented that counter narrative.
