I like this approach to have a good melee focus and use a shield. I currently have Claymore + Carian Grandeur and Misericorde + Glintblade Phalanx in Right Hand and Staff (Carian Glintstone) and Shield (Random starting shield) in left. Going staff in right hand is interesting and I may mess around with it.

And now that the DLC is out we have Carian Sovereignty which does the most stance damage in the game. And a Carian Sorcery Sword that's a weapon that casts spells with strong attacks. Lot of good options. Not to mention Rellanas twin moon swords. Lots of good stuff.

In my Carian Knight build, I use Bull-Goat's Talisman-better yet, swap the greaves and gloves for something else-for 51+ poise. I like to avoid more interruptions to Carian Grandeur, Kamehamehazur, etc.

Ahh very true! It would be clutch not to be interrupted as much during grandeur, my next build will probably be the magic assassin wit moonveile most likely n I'll look to find a wit to hit that 51 poise, thank you for feedback!

I'm using a couple more things in this build.
a large star with the ashes of war - dark waves. It is very helpful in destroying large enemy's
    and second
misericorde with the ashes of war - a glint blade phalanx, 2-3 castes are enough to completely unbalance any enemy in the game, in this way you can endlessly use a crit attack
Optionally, in order to increase the damage from the ashes of war karian grandeur, it would be best to take a regular one-handed sword and apply this ashes of war to it. This combination will give more damage than the sword of a Karian knight

The only problem using Carian Greatsword AoW is that it doesn’t get a full three stage charge up like Carian Grandeur so it doesn’t do as much damage
Plus, a regular sword just doesn’t fit with the THEME

My Carian Knight build almost always ends up with the Dark Moon Greatsword at some point, but I still love the classic Carian sword sorceries.
My build is pretty similar overall, but staples for my build are usually Carian Slicer, Carian Piercer, Carian Greatsword / Adula’s Moonblade, Loretta’s Greatbow / Mastery, and Ranni’s Dark Moon for spells.
Weapon path usually goes Carian Knight’s Sword with Carian Grandeur, Carian Knight’s Shield with Carian Retaliation, Carian Glintstone Staff, and a dagger with Glintblade Phalanx for the poise break and high crit multiplier combo and then the Dark Moon Greatsword and Carian Regal Scepter once I get them.

I am currently running a Carian Knight build, and my only real complaint with it is that if I want to use my favourite staff with my favourite sorceries, I need at least 60 Int and a decent sized FP bar meaning I would want around 30 Mind
And going into the DLC with less than 50 Vigor is suicide, I also prefer having a good amount of Stamina so Endurance being at least 30 is a no brainer for me
But then, my remaining stats become quite…stagnant
I actually reallocated a few stats recently while going through the Haligtree, and began focusing my efforts on Strength, since the Carian Knight Sword has D Int Scaling but C Strength Scaling, and I need to do more damage with my basic attacks
Of course, once I hit 40 strength (which I am VERY QUICKLY approaching, the Haligtree gives EGREGIOUS amounts of runes) I will probably do some more Int levelling so I can use Ranni’s Dark Moon as my legendary sorcery over Stars of Ruin or Founding Rain of Stars
But I’m not even level 150 yet, so I’ve still got room to keep levelling stats, I first finished the DLC at level 200 so it’s not like I’m behind schedule
However one key difference for my build is I’m using EXCLUSIVELY Carian Sorceries, not Glintstone or Cold except for a utility spell, just sorceries used by Carian Knights/Warriors
I also don’t just wear the Carian Knight set, because as cool as it looks, a little mixing up never hurt anyone, and fashion before stats
WITH ALL THIS SAID AND DONE, HERE IS MY CARIAN KNIGHT BUILD
    Weapons:
    Carian Knight Sword
Wolf Crest Shield (Carian Retaliation, Basic Affinity)
    Carian Regal Sceptre
    Armour:
    Noble Hood (Blue)
    Carian Knight Armour (Altered)
    Hoslow’s Gauntlets
    Blaidd’s Greaves
    Sorceries:
    Ranni’s Dark Moon
    Loretta’s Mastery
    Carian Phalanx
    Greatblade Phalanx
    Magic Glintblade
    Carian Slicer
    Carian Piercer
    Starlight
    Talismans:
    Carian Filigreed Crest
    Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman
    Erdtree’s Favour +2
    Two Headed Turtle Talisman
I’m quickly approaching Malenia once more with this build, I won’t have high enough int for Ranni’s Dark Moon by the time I reach her, but that’s fine with me, since the DLC is where that spell will actually be useful

Just throw away the carian knight sword, it is garbage due to its awful scalings. I suggest you use a normal long sword and infused it with magic or cold. It scaling is much better and you don't need to invest into three different stats to get good damage. Also in the DLC, 60 vigors is required to survive bosses fights, 50 vigors is not enough even if you have full scadutree blessings. My carian spellblade is actually not very intelligent dependent since you need to survive first if you want to deal damage to enemies so poised and vigors are a must. Using a greatshield allows for guard counter which is a reliable and good way to consistently break enemies poised, along with Greatblade Palanx. The DLC also introduces the Carian Sovereignty which is possibly the most powerful ash of war in the entire game based on its pure raw damage alone, it also cause massive poised damage (93) meaing this along with one cast of Greatblade Palanx is usually enough to break poised of most bosses in the entire game. Carian Sovereignty also add hyper armor to you, meaning you are less lightly to be staggered and can pull off this ash of war while trading blows with boss, it adds a lot of hyper armor the bigger weapon you use so a greatsword is a must at this point.
All and all, carian knight sword is trash. Just using a magic infused claymore to excalibur enemies to oblivion and carian sorcery sword for utility (can cast spell with strong attacks, good scaling with intelligent) and quick guard counter. Both are only available in the DLC so that is something you have to take in mind.

Hey buddy. The lordsworns straight sword with Carian Grandier Ash of War is better. It gets a 2.4 multiplier on an int infused sword as opposed to a 1.8 on the Carian knights sword . And I personally use an int infused misericorde with glint blade phalanx on it for insane damage on critical riposte since I’m good with parries on the magic infused Carian shield which of course has Carian retaliation. Idk if you know this but if you hit the enemy at the very end as they are about to get up, you can break their stance again if you already did it. So sometimes I summon magic glintblade (ash of war has insane poise damage and can stance break enemies in two charges) let them take damage, then parry their attack, resposte, switch to my sword and time my Grandier so by the time they are standing back up, I rebreak their stance. It’s crazy fun. I keep my staff and shield in my off hand and my sword and misericorde in my main hand. And when I really don’t care to have crazy crits, i switch to cold on misericorde and abuse the cold debuff to amplify my Grandier. Especially when standing in the magic circle when battling big slow bosses like the fire giant. I set up glint blade phalanxes on bosses and by the time they get to me, they get slapped by my magic glint blades and are already stance broken before they even hit me. So much fun. I love the Carian Knight. You have great taste. I been playing Carian Knight for a while now. Named mine ParryinKnight lol

I've gone with a claymore for carian grandeur, is it right to infuse it with magic and then pump INT for damage or do you still pump STR as well? I know the STR scaling gets pretty bad when you do magic infusion

    • @viethoangtruong54
      @viethoangtruong54 3 дня назад +1

@@AlfuhPAD If you are using the strength/int build then you should use cold infusion as it scales much better with strength and int than a pure magical infusion. But you will have to invest in both of these stats heavily if you want your ash of war to deal equal damage to the pure int in magical infusion alone, this will likely put you out of the 150 level recommended for PvP. If you are playing solely for PvE then go for it. Basically the carian granduer and its cooler sibling carian sovereignty both have extremely high damage already so this all come down to how you want to play: you wanna have higher physical damage with the ability to proc frostbite but your ash of war will have lower damage? Then using cold infusion. Or if you want to deal extremely huge damage at the cost of lowering physical damage then go with the magic infusion. Or if you are just playing PvE then just farm runes and put points in whatever you want, you will still deal huge damage either way.
