I created an updated version of this build for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, addressing some of the changes introduced in patch 1.12. ruclips.net/video/0q6vo0wpEgI/видео.html
Ya, I love the look of that character, very well made. I will try to link the slides from a different source because this one was removed for some reason.
Carian themed builds are my favorite since the Carian Knights are my personal favorite lore in game. I use a similar build on my main save. Inhave Grandeur on a Knights great sword, and apparently greatswords get more poise on the attack which helps you get it off more often. I've got glintblade phalanx on my misericord and the Carian staff and shield, with carian retaliation in my off hand. I wear the Carian Knigths helm, armor, and the fire prelate's gauntlets and greaves.
I'm not the biggest fan of Greatswords in Elden Ring except for Blasphemous Blade but mainly for the AoW. However, I used the Claymore with Glintblade Phalanx during this run and it was surprisingly enjoyable.
perfect for what i want for the early game, so well explained and simple to follow. beautiful editing work too. especially with the drone view explanations of where to find certain items, i never realized i missed the misericorde in stormveil !

Now that the DLC is Out, this build can be tremendously upgraded with just switching Carian Grandeur with Carian ****** from the DLC. Nothing else to change, just use this new Ash of War instead, with the same loadout. Immense damage upgrade, even more poise damage. Have fun tarnished
I might make a combination of this build with the Int/Faith build that im running. Carrian Grandeur might go well with the Milady light greatsword as well, sonce that weapon is a great poise breaker.
So Ive made a couple different builds like these and Here are my thoughts because im bored and really like this playstyle. I can say you should be starting with the prisoner class, has higher vigor, endurance and strength as these are the most important stats we want in the early game. Endgame you want to use lusats staff, its mana cost is not that high for a lot of these spells. Early game the Magic Glintblade spell is important because it can stagger, You will be doing more early game work with the sword before you start loading up on spells you cant cast much of. Now Im the kind of person that likes to get a big lazy dragon out of the way a few times before I proceed with the game and also picking up the meteorite staff, its going to be your main source of good damage with a staff. No point wasting mats when the staff you want you cant get till later anyway. Pick up the knights armor from the twin maiden husk, 51 poise and it doesnt have a lame cape. I used standard carian greatsword for the longest time before getting moonblade. I take my time with the game, progressing quests, hitting up all locations but I want a good start to just kinda find stuff naturally like im sure many are like. Swords, I prefer greatswords and in one game I went with Lordsworn's Greatsword, 110 crit modifier and can do every day work.I wish we had a spell version of Carian Grandeur/greatsword so I can ditch using a physical sword all together and just spend points into mind instead. Now you have a choice for ash of war Greatsword or Granduer Greatsword has 2 charges to full length Granduer has 3 charges to full length If you only charge granduer to 2(which you will do a lot of the time) you will do less damage than using Greatsword charged to 2. Talismans for endgame Graven-Mass, Magic scorpion charm, shard of alexander and godfrey icon are all good Early game I used Erdtrees favor, dragoncrest shield (below Bestial Sanctum), Turtle and Graven school You can also use radagons icon if you care about casting times(which I dont anymore) and leave dex as low as possible. The increase cast speed really isnt a make it or break it like if in pvp. Scor/Scar talismans I prefer not to use unless you are one of them RL1 type people. More points for mind and int the better, early game you will be worring about stamina the most, so I went for stuff like erdtrees favor and turtle. If you dont care so much about swords lorettas slash is a vibe and halberds slap. Ice spear is also another good contender if you like twin blades or spears, I myself didnt vibe with it but it has good poise damage. I have 3 different variations of the spell sword class and Im well over 300 hours on one of them and into ng3 or 4 I forget which(I wish they told you in the load menu), I have another thats in NG1 or 2 thats hyper focused on just spells and its about as durable as sand in a crankcase. I started another to be a hybrid int and fth to use stuff like piercer, moonblade, lightning glave and spear but It is hard to use because its as squishy, you really need to watch what your doing and time your attacks. Anyway have fun hope this helps others in my journey with this type of build(also its a good idea to still have something like night comet or spiral shard, spiral shard deletes things better than a lot of the sword spells when you cant use them.)
Very thematic and fun, but I noticed in my playthrough that i came to rely a lot on Astel's Wing and its Nebula weapon art for stance breaking and crowd control over the Phalanx. I also noticed that there are no fast ranged options so that weakness can come back to bite you in certain pve encounters.
hey man, found you're video just bfr making a new character for the DLC. Your videos are really high-quality and full of info, really awesome stuff!! Subscribed and looking fwd to DLC content!
I know this is the carian grandeur build, but also consider the glinstone pebble AoW you get from rogier. Great utility with a hard-hitting short ranged spell (PVE pests - bats, dogs, imps, etc...) but the followup R2 hits very hard with good poise damage as well. Its a great combo to pull out to interrupt casters/shooters and then skewer them, and also for nimble opponents that avoid the pebble but will get roll-catched by the followup. If both attacks land, you are doing 150% more damage than carian piercer for half the FP cost

Awesome video, planning a magical knight run for my ng+ run, what was the ash of war you had for that dagger on your build? Looked like a lightning ash?
Im going further then this build. im going full arcane swordsman build. its already doing 1k a swing. an the knights set does not give the best results with the carian blades an bow sadly. an i went wrench an you end up with more stats then any other characters. if you going to max lvl then it won't matter. but im struggling in cause my vigor is only 20 an i need more still. it really hard at the beginning. 60 is always minimum of 60. also the Dlc has some stuff that would push this over 4k damage.
Well, the new Ash of War, Carian Sovereignty does great poise damage but similar to Carian Grandeur it requires a bit of time to charge up. We are going to need to find a replacement for Glintblade Phalanx. Perhaps just replace it with Greatblade Phalanx because it does seem the better option now.

Although Carian Grandeur comes pre-attached to the Carian Knight's Sword. It has poor scaling and offers much less damage with Carian Grandeur than any other weapon with Magic affinity.
thanks for the guide!! I was using another guide that was built around the phalanx ability. I had a question, did this get changed at all? it is not staggering enemies for me after two casts or... at all really. Am I doing something wrong? is it dependant on something im missing?
@@MamboMRS would that technically mean that casting it double that amount would lead to the stance break? or is it just basically without that advantage now
@@adabunny5212 After the patch, each blade of Glintblade Phalanx does 5 stance damage. That's 5x4 blades. The follow up thrust attack that you can chain with it does 12-22 depending on which weapon type you use. So as it is now it's much harder to stance break enemies with it. Keeping in mind that after about! 6 seconds of not taking damage, bosses start resetting the stance damage inflicted. So you need to manage to hit with all 4 blades plus the follow up thrust, twice in a short amount of time to achieve the stance break. I've lately opted to use the Greatblade Phalanx sorcery twice plus a charged R2 from a sword to stance break bosses. Try both and see what works best for you
Could someone good at making builds and stuff to me the best order to get every thing because I’m kinda new to Elden and I heard that if you go for shard of Alexander to late you can’t get it

I've lately opted to use the Greatblade Phalanx sorcery twice plus a charged R2 from a sword to stance break bosses.
Try both and see what works best for you
@@MamboMRS thanks for the advice, I'll try both and see what works 🎀✨️
Thank you.
good content bro
glintblade phalanx poise damage was reduced. any way to make this build still work?
Currently, I'm experimenting with Greatblade Phalanx. Endure AoW and Ironjar Aromatic to boost your hyper armor so you are not easily interrupted.
Could someone good at making builds and stuff to me the best order to get every thing because I’m kinda new to Elden and I heard that if you go for shard of Alexander to late you can’t get it
I made my guy a sceliam knight equiped with the scelian master piece moon veil.
If I go to 70+ INT, would the Carian Regal Scepter be better? Even with the boost of sword sorceries from the glintstone staff?
What class should i choose for these
I miss the original voice, to be honest. The AI stuff feels a little inauthentic.
That said, I can’t get enough of intelligence in this game.
It was an experiment. I thought the AI would make my content more accessible. Intelligence Builds are my favorite as well. Thank you so much for watching and the feedback.❤
Is there a new DLC version with the new sorceries and items?
what sword are you using in this video?
I used the Estoc thrusting sword during my initial testing. But as I mentioned, I used Carian Grandeur on the Misericorde and Glintblade Phalanx on the Claymore.
Спасибо огромное! Информативно и ёмко.
radagon icon for speed?
I want to use this build but use the moonlight great sword would it work with this build(This is my first souls game)
Well, it isn't a bad idea. After all, the Moonlight Greatsword is an intelligence weapon and this is an intelligence build. However, the Moonlight Greatsword will not be my first choice for this build.
Can you tell me what weapon you use for this build?
I think he's uses estoc
Very nice video and build! I wanna use this build with a straight sword, which u recommended Lordsworn's Straight Sword for. According to scaling is find on the internet, wouldnt Broadsword or Longsword outscale the lordsworn in terms of AR?
How would this pair with the dark moon greatsword?
What is the wespon with carin grandeur?
Why not use Carian Sword??
Horrible scaling for late game.
I dont know if im not strong enough yet but i rarely stance break and it seems low damage
as a beginner its kinda difficult if you say you can take what you want but….. idk can’t decide. whats the best😂
