It looks cool as heck but man is it hard to justify. I wish this sword had at least low tier medium shield guard stats or better to slightly make it worth.
@@RanOutOfSpac the way to use this block, is to start charging R2 into the face of wizard. It actually blocks 50 percent of magic damage and they are usually surprised as fuck when you block straight through their spells

Loved using this weapon in PvE since the ash was so fun to try to land and dealt so much damage when you actually did land. I fell in love with it watching Saint Riot do a playthrough/invasions with it a few months ago. It was crazy how often he would actually land the ash.
My first time soloing radahn. I finished him off with a fully charged carina grandeur.
I've been waiting for this showcase, this Carian bad boy carried me through the whole game since I got it until elden beast. Instantly fell in love with its aesthetic and its heavy attack.

I mean, there's a reason this AOW is used to one-shot Maliketh at level 1
With flame grant me strength, shard of alexander, and the charge skill/spell talisman on my Str/Int build I can hit for 2500+ with the AOW, and I've only got 25 int.

With my faith-strength build, 47f 50s, I managed to get over 2000 damage from a charged heavy.

Nice! I remember asking for it in some streams, now I finally get to see Chase using it! Once I used aromatic ironjar and hit 2 charged ash of war in two bullgoat gankers with fingerprint stone shield ( patch 1.05 I think), it was hit kill for both, more than 2k damage! After that invasion I started to love this ash of war lol.
Im surprised you landed it at all. This is arguably strong in PvE for intelligence since it can easily outperform a critical on a staggered AI enemy, but so...so slow in pvp
Yes, using Carian Grandeur on staggered enemies is so satisfying. The damage is insane.
The funny thing is, Chase used Moonveil during his first playthrough, very often. And had a tendency to swap between Hoarfrost stomp halberd

Hey chase I'm not sure if you are aware, but this Ash of War can actually hit through walls/around corners. Can lead to some easy cheeky kills
Weirdly enough if you put carian grandeur on a dagger, like Misericorde, it'll do even more damage. Love it, once killed a 3-man gank through a wall in a catacomb with it, they never saw me the whole invasion.

It’s cool to see you’re still so good at PVP even in Elden ring. I played DS3 PvP for years and DS2 PvP before that, not saying I was any good, but seemed to win the vast majority of my invasions. Elden ring is a different story, I keep trying to get into invasions in it, but I just feel it’s PvP scene is just a nightmare. (This is only my opinion on the PvP, overall I loved the game)
i think so too, elden ring pvp ist mostly 1v2+ and most use meta stuff even at low lvl
Literally picked this weapon up today for my mage playthrough! In PvE the ash of war is really good if you can charge it! I can see why it doesn't work in pvp tho...
In PvP it's better to just use the first charge for most situations. Comes out quick and wins most trades with 1000+ damage, also cancels any jump attacks since it has a large vertical hitbox.
This is some Shaman King shit right here. Grandeur for the vertical slash and Adula's for the horizontal
I love this sword despite it being hard to hit with that ash, i'm more pve and it can shred some enemies

Chase, I wonder if you are willing to do any build guide videos? I know you have talked at length on invasion streams about how you make builds, but I think it would be nice to have a video dedicated to the subject. Would be nice if a video covered 2 or 3 different rune-level tiers for a given stat-distribution. For example, Pure STR Build, RL90 / RL120 / RL150. Or whatever tiers you think are most relevant to actual invasions. Love your vids
Hey bro. You should try Carian Granduer on a magic infused lordswords sword or Banished Knights Sword. It scales at 2.4 instead of 1.8 which the carian sword gives. Allows you to do bonkers damage.

I use stormcaller on my occult infused vulgar militia saw and it shreds with blood loss procs and the high damage of the aow. I’m gonna try it with frost for the extra dmg now. Thanks for the idea.

@@en20drayt87 Just because something else can get higher AR does not make them not OP. That is a bad argument of scope. This weapon can be obtained within minutes of starting your character, upgraded to +9 15 minutes later and can one or two shot every boss in the game. Are there others that can do that? Yes. Those are also OP but they do not by the simple nature of their existence disqualify this weapon from being OP as well. Using your scope argument, I could tell you every single weapon you name isn't OP as long as I can find anything with a higher AR value.
@@dylanleff373 1 and 2 shots every boss in NG outside of Elden Beast and Radagon, and if you do the poison/madness/bleed buff cheese can one shot them too.

So, something I've noticed having watched frankly nearly all your vids up to this point, among others... Is that invasions seem to spawn you with people using similar builds. Like, if you use a STR build, you run into more STR. Or if you have a niche weapon build, you tend to run into that. It's something I've very consistently notice is that seemingly improbable matchups happen a lot, far more than feels natural.
It just a coincidence. Chase mostly does strength builds in his showcases and invasions and strength builds are one of the most popular builds period. The overlap happens often but otherwise invasions are all about level range and weapon lvl.

I've seen Drunk Souls land max level Carian Grandeur in plenty of invasions with free aim.
I really wish this sword/ash if war was better but it’s just a worse moonviel. The moonviel ability has like triple the range and can be used in half a second.
I'm not sure if this AoW is quite as majestic as Bastard Star's Nebula, but it is pretty legit

The invasion against the poor too-honest pver taunter’s tongue host with mohg’s spear and vyke’s as his powerstanced greatspears was so funny, with chase running into his doppelgänger and the appearance of a tryhard red with waves of desync (nothing wrong with trying hard btw, the more hosts eat that L2 the sooner it gets patched)
I landed 1 fully charged one in a duel, but it was from a space and a whiff from the other player while it was charging lol

The major problem with the *Carian Knight Sword* is that Carian Grandeur is weaker on this weapon than it being used on a different Magic-Infused Short Sword

Ironically enough, the sword's own ash of war hits less hard than if you slapped the generic ash of war on any other sword and just specced it into intelligence instead.

Imo its ash should have been square off with piercer and the great sword sweep. Would have been more thematic and interesting, plus they could have just reused sword of night and flame animations (for the sweep specifically.) Grandeur is just so brutish and so unreasonably hard to actually land fully on a boss while dealing mediocre damage, meanwhile some nobody in sellia made a katana that's just better in so many ways, but makes you look like a lame weeaboo
