So part of me would have liked a bit more traditional approach, with an actual verse perhaps, as that would probably have lend it self to making the song a bit more approachable, but still an incredible display of talent, and I've listened to it like 10-12 times already, and seen 3 reaction videos. (One of my favorite guilty pleasures are pouring a glass of red, sitting down on the couch, watching DL reaction videoes on RUclips, and then watch most musicians just startto reevaluate all their life choices 😅)... • @shiboomi2249
      @shiboomi2249 9 месяцев назад

Haha, that sounds like a time! Especially with a bit of vino in the mix. And I agree; the song structure is insane. It's like: -
      * The vocal section at the start is the verse, except it's really a chorus in disguise
      * The verse builds to a bass solos the first two times, in place of a chorus
      * We then get a key change'd verse instead of the traditional chorus, but with the changed drum pattern it then becomes apparent that this is actually the chorus. It was a verse earlier on, but now it's a chorus. Mental
      * Then the song just ends. No real room for a solo, as we've already had two ridiculous ones, and the third verse-chorus already had the vibe of a bridge somehow, as it sounded so different from the first two times
They're definitely marching to the beat of their own drum (or in Aaron's case 10,000 drums). After a few listens, and getting more used to hearing this bonkers song structure, I can't deny that they've somehow made it work. I think it's just very subversive and unfamiliar at first obviously. Although that sensation that the song just ends prematurely and that something isn't quite complete hasn't left me yet, so perhaps it doesn't quite work after all -- I dunno. What I do know though is that they're clearly willing to take a punt on some kind of weird, experimental song structure, which I think is commendable!

The lyrics are the opposite sentiment of "Next to You". That can't be an accident, can it?
There's a repeating vocal thing at the end of verses (I think it is "Hey, Ah") that sounds like an exact replica, complete with the precisely the same reverb, of something I remember from the '80s. But I can't quite place it.
No Quincy Jones mention in the credits. Anybody know why?

And yes, interesting idea about them being the opposite of the ones from “Next to you”…
Henrik’s hair has been blond now for a while, so maybe people are used to it by now.
He got a lot of comments back then tho ;)
When asked why he’d gone blond, he said that he ‘wanted to look normal’ 😉

I kept waiting for the kick-ass groove to kick in and it never came. Henrik did his usual incredibly intricate pickin' but there was just no ooomph.

Definitely a different type of song for them. Good they’re trying some new things I reckon. It may grow on you.

No mics, no cables. It's a music video not a performance. Rather enjoy some of the earlier videos with actual playing.

It’s a parody on a European Song Contest song… I really don’t get this one. Sorry.

As a long time dirty loops fan I can say I don't care for this song.

Ok now I like it. 😂🤣 It took some time for my brain to adjust to that bass, but its actually a great song once your brain can compute the sound from that bass.

I am sorry. I found these guys delightful on their earlier outings. I find this simply an attempt to please the usual superficial (mostly US) fans who like "positive" music. Henryk, come on, you are a fan of Gary Willis....LESS IS MORE...
