The most aggravating thing about Henrik, is that he does eveything in your face. He didn't sell his soul, he worked his ass off and he can tell you every step he took to get there. To add some insult, the guy is funny, humble and lovely.

I've met and played with (same stage, same night, different band) Henrik, he's one of the most humble people I've ever hung out with. So glad to see and hear what they've done. Welcome to the rabbit hole. :)
Henrik has four arms (and a double necked bass) on the least busy parts, that's hilarious.
Aron has a humongous drum set, doesn't need it, but that's what this video is.
Jonah has four (?) keyboards, plays on two of them?
It's all a homage to the 80's, I think, and everything is completely over the top, yet A M A Z I N G in their own absolutely brilliant way.
    I love it.

Henrik’s got the name ARON ‘tattooed’ onto one of his fake hands, and yeah I guess it’s not a phase, since Aron not only plays killer drums, edits all of their videos, writes a lot of their tunes, including the lyrics, but ALSO a lot of Henrik’s bass lines…
This song is such a goof. Everything comes in twos: two keyboard sets, two bass drums, two bass guitar necks (the double bass ;), two pairs of hands for Henrik, two choruses, two bass solos….
How Henrik creates those glitchy-sounding passages, not sure.
Sometimes Jonah is doubling or extending them on his keys, but as to the finer details of it, I have no idea.
Almost everything in this video is a joke, as well as the writing of this tune, -besides being super catchy and brilliant at the same time ☺️
For Jonah’s truly divine voice, check out “Next to You”. He’s layered all of the vocal tracks and choirs himself 😱
For more Henrik flexing, listen to “Follow the Light” or “World on Fire”.
Although the dude’s insane on every single Dirty Loops track 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for that reaction, NittPicc, I enjoyed you being genuinely blown away again by these three guys ;)

There's a quite recent vid up on yt where Henrik explains his board - Henrik has all of his board midi controlled (pre programmed). He even has a synth in his board, which explains quite a lot of the soundbytes. Only thing he has to do live is controlling his whammy bar by foot (besides playing like a possessed maniac :D )
As a bunch of goofy friends they are hilarious!!! :)
btw, it's not a "real" key change, they just switch from e-major to e-minor after the second verse (the verses being Henrik's solos).

In Boston on Sunday his MIDI system malfunctioned and we lost the half of his first solo! Among other sounds, Henrik is using an extreme pitch shifting effect controlled by a hinged pedal. To understand it, think of a simple pitch bend wheel on a keyboard; it typically slides the pitch up/down by a semitone or two. Now imagine the pitch able to slide up three octaves, controlled by a pedal instead of a wheel.

Most bands (actually, all bands playing larger venues) will play to a click. You can actually sync this to control backing tracks, lights, and more importantly, effects via MIDI or a DAW. May not be as common in the classical/jazz world but to my knowledge it is super common in pop/rock/metal and anything technical.

About the bass there, yes the E string has a 2 fret extension to D so the glue vise acts like a capo. The tuner for that string actually sits at the back of the body behind the bridge, and that is actually a Hipshot D-tuner, so the E- string can actually drop down to C

The particular foot pedal that Henrik is using does two things: 1. It's a synth that tracks the pitch he's playing on the bass and: 2. The pedal itself is a continuously variable transposer with an overall range of up to 3 octaves (or possibly more). The pedal also contains a footswitch that turns the effect on and off, allowing him to change between the synth/pitch bender effect and his "natural" bass sound (plus whatever other signal processing -- EQ, compression, etc. --- he's using the pedal board for) pretty much at will.

This song is obviously intended to be more comical than others, although they do love to have fun together. The song is intended to be a parody on the old 80s and 90s rock bands. That’s why you see the double bass drum kit, the double neck guitar, and the keyboard rack with four different keyboards. All the synthesizer sounds and the style of the melody complete the parody sound of those bands from the 80s and 90s. So fun!

Particularly as a bassist, I don't want to disparage Henrik's technique-, genre- and sonic-blowing solos. But in terms of composition, structure, and Jonah's keyboard playing, this is one of DL's most simplistic songs, albeit very powerful and bombastically funny. As previously mentioned, check out their earlier originals such as "The Way She Walks" -- the interjections are amazing as are their collective chops and songwriting -- you'll LOVE it, their first-ever original song which became a #1 hit in Japan, "Hit Me"; "I'm Lost in You"; Then there are some of their amazing, out-of-the-box covers such as "Ta Fete" (Stromae), "Undo" (Sanna Neilsen) and "Over the Horizon" (contracted by Samsung) and even Justin Bieber's "Roller Coaster." (Hint: It's always fun to check out a snippet of the original version of the covers to appreciate how much DL "loopified" it.)
