I'll say...
"Tokyo Groove Jyoshi - What is hip?"
Both versions, the one with the sax, and the other one with the shamisen... are a-kickers!
@@RazvanMihaeanuSnacks ... not sax :p .
Kenni Holmen (Flute, reeds) is Cory Wong's secret weapon. The man is one of the best in the genre and almost no one knows him. He's been in Cory's touring band from the beginning.
I had never heard of Dirty Loops, but I saw the thumbnail of this video and was like "Hey, that's Kenni from Cory and the Wongnotes!!"
Check out the group Hornheads. This is where I first heard of him years ago. Sooooo good.
I don´t know anything about flute music, but am I cheap if say that he reminds me of Ian Anderson in the short solo at 8.45?
@@freakstarrguy check their album “phoenix”, you won’t regret it.
@@freakstarrguy you should !!
Wonderful reaction! I got tears in my eyes when you talked about your dream.😢 I hope it will be real some day. I think ”Follow the light” and ”Next to you” would be perfect Dirty Loops-songs for coming reactions.
Hi from Sweden (Dirty Loops-land)👋
So much Pat Metheny in this - love it!
Dirty Loops are the most incredible band in the world today. My favorite video "SONGS FOR LOVERS - BITTEN BY THE KITTEN". Take a look if you haven't seen it.
Re: the flute solo, I’m not gonna say I told you so, but I told you so! 😉
“Work Shit Out” is the next Dirty Loops stop on your way down the rabbit hole!
I honestly thought you were going to cry, and I understand that.
If you like jazz and flute: There is som swedish guys to look for. Björn J:son Lind and Magnus Lindgren! If you listen to "J:sons hundar "(J.sons dogs in english) played by Björn, and "Penny blue" played by Magnus, you have something to look forward to!
Fånig fråga, men jag fick den på hjärnan: Vilken känd musiker var Björn J:son släkt med? Nån ingift... Jag minns bara inte vem.
PS. Ah, jag hittade det. Ola Magnell. Svågrar.
the bari sax/clarinet player is Grace Kelly. She has her own band, plays with Leo P in 2Saxy and you have to check out the song, Grace Kelly as performed by Pomplamoose with Grace Kelly playing on it!
Saw her when she toured with Prince...she's awesome.
GK is awesome
Just for future reference, Jethro Tull is the band. Ian Anderson is the band's leader, writer, flute player, vocalist and acoustic guitarist.
Great reaction. You are still so young....chase your dreams.
Wow, I never thought I could ever be so emotionally touched by a reaction video!
Jazz Flute? Dave valentine and Nestor Torres. Both incredible!!!
I love Nestor Torres!! 😭😭😭
... and Hubert Laws.
one of those songs you dont want to end
My fav Dirty Loops song is "Work Shit Out". Their individual talents really get a chance to shine.
I think that if you like Dirty Loops, you sort of need Dirty Loops, because only they do their stuff, and it is still different stuff with every melody. Very creative, fun, engaging, with loads of influences, and so very well composed, arranged, performed, all awhile they enjoy themselves. OK, I know nothing, but I can have an opinion all the same!
It's just so exciting to see a girl so in the music and knowing so much about the details of music. Beautiful.
Great reaction! There`s another song of Dirty Loops and Corey Wong called "Turbo" which you might like as well, because in that one the brass and wind section really shines even more! Check that out. Astonishing fact is that Hendrick, Jonah and Aaron on the one hand and Corey Wong and the brass section on the other hand recorded their parts in different places. It was finally cut together.
No big deal , just exceptionally gifted musicians doing some of the best groove you will hear , and a wonderful review by a great ( and somewhat beautiful) muso. Thanks
Entire album is at that level - delicate, superb - go for the rest of their videos - whole discography of Dirty Loops stands on it´s own - this collab w Cory Wong & co seems to hit your spot though !
This one was recorded during the dxxx pandemic, so they are not in the same room. DL in one, and Cory & gang in the another (overseas).
Love this one!! 😍T
Thank you, great reaction!! 🙂
'Delicate.' The perfect description.
SNARKY PUPPY! Their song "Bet" has Chris Bullock playing flute and piccolo flute on this track. I think you would really like Snarky Puppy since you like Dirty Loops so much
It's never too late. Chase your dreams
OMG, your reaction to the solo was just awesome. So cool to see pure joy like that. I definitely suggest checking out “Follow the Light”. Not a flute feature, but the horn section is *so* tight on that track.
You really need to look into Hubert Laws and his quartet. It's a little 70's / 80's but he's probable one of the best flautists in jazz and so is his brother Ronnie Laws. Your tone is amazing as well.🎶
Finally!!! Excellent reaction! In that way, what it has to be...as expected))))) The next song to reaction - Turbo
Fantastic reaction by a person who actually knows what she is talking about. Just like yourself, I am a frustrated sax, clarinet and flute jazz musician wannabe. It didn't really happen for me either, but my love for the genre and the woodwinds never lost a sliver of intesity. Keep horning on, my lovely, keep horning on.
During Covid, the Loop was in Sweden and Cory was in the states. They coordinated everything to make it seem as if they were together. They were over 3000 miles apart
Who ever told you that flute is not used in jazz was, sorry to say, an idiot. I play Bass, Trombone and Latin percussion and one of my most favorite instrument is indeed the flute. You're a girl after my own heart, I love your enthusiasm!
You look amazing being so emotional and vulnerable from when the flute solo started. It hit you very deep in your soul. I know. And like the title says "IT WAS YOUR DREAM". So sorry for that, but also, I imagine that you already struggle with those feelings long time ago.
You will love Dirty Loops - Forever Young
"WE HAVE TO GO BACK!!!!" -Jack from LOST
Believe it or not, Dirty Loops have never even met Cory Wong. He played and recorded his parts remotely...pretty cool
This piece always gives me goosebumps, very nice, good pick for reaction video too..
Amazing band!
i watch reaction videos a lot ... this has introduced me to a lot of new artists and music that shine a bright light on the fusion genre. Your take on this piece was fantastic, enlightening actually ... and our shared joy at a fabulous piece executed flawlessly by exceptional musicians ... that was bloody awesome. Keep doing what you do best and I will keep watching :)
This is my favorite type of reaction video, where I learn something new about the song or the instruments. Thanks!
Jethro tull. I give you my word, you´ll like it.
Hey NittPicc, loved loved loved your reaction!
This piece, I feel, was written for you! 😉
The appreciation you brought to it, and that moment at 9:46!
I loved also how you analyzed some of it and the things you picked out, such as some of the percussive elements in there.
Dirty Loops often work with Swedish percussionist (and astro physicist) Andreas Ekstedt, who specializes in Latin percussion, amongst things.
So it could be him working his magic there.
Also very true that they’ve all mastered the fine art of getting out of each others’ ways whilst still sprinkling their fairy dust in just the right moments.
Another thing which struck me: Dirty Loops just dropped their newest single, in which Henrik (bass) gets to shred like mad.
This is such a different way of playing the bass. And he can just do it all, from funk to jazz to latin to maxed-out rock shreds 🤣
Like “Thriller”, this one is from DL’s collaborative album with Cory Wong. (And yeah, written, arranged and recorded over two continents. They’d never even met in person at that stage).
Cory’s horns are partially members of Prince’s Hornheads, and I think Kenni Holmen (flute etc.) is one of those original members.
Check him out on one of their other tracks , “Turbo”. Another solo, this time on sax, to make you go crazy :)
Kenni, like many others of that horn group, also has been a member of Cory’s band touring recently, featured there with the CRAZIEST live solos, as well as on Cory’s countless podcasts. Crazy good!
And I’ve the feeling that your jazz flautist live has just started! Never too late…
So check out Dirty Loops/Cory Wong’s “Turbo” next.
Enjoy ☺️
This is a great tune, from an artist new to me :)
I nearly didn't click on this vid because.. well, it's not Band-Maid, but you looked really excited in the thumbnail so- actually, you look really excited in all your thumbnails, NittPicc but... er....
Anyway, really glad I clicked on this, another tune for the play list. It's a catchy and simple tune (which probably means it's quite complex underneath) but when it ended, I found myself improvising more of it just to keep it going. I think this will be an easy tune to loop, just put track mark after the piano intro, put it on repeat and if you have the timing right you end up with an infinitely long tune. I'll probably do that, actually.
Take care :)
Oh, a recommendation- "sing child" by Heart.
I very much like your perceptive comments and your cheerful approach to the music you cover. Kudos!
I KNEW you were going to like this one. As soon as I knew you were a flutist I was like yes Ring Of Saturn is a must. Next you should check out their first original song together “Follow The Light” that one is really really good too
You are a gorgeous musical being. Music is alive in you. Linda!
If you liked this, you'll love the band Snarky Puppy. Listen to their "we like it here" session. Every song is a masterpiece in jazz funk.
its pretty much a collab between Cory wongs and Dirty loops, if you like more funk you can check Fearless Flyers, Cory is one of the member there
The same guy that played the flute solo does an incredible sax solo on their song "Turbo". In fact, the entire collaboration album with DL and Cory is phenomenal. As soon as I saw you excitement on Thriller, I knew you were going to love Rings of Saturn. I got so much enjoyment watching this reaction. I hope you dig deeper into this rabbit hole. Thanks for making my day!😊
Glad you enjoyed it ! Also Kenni Holman ,the flutist , and a few others that play with Cory Wongs band in the String section were apart of PRINCE band for years! FYI.
I LOVE Kenni Holmen! He's a beast! In fact, Cory Wong's entire horn section are just... well, for me, they're better than drugs!
Yes please, a video with you improvising, having fun on it ! I loved your reactions, like mine !
Let's analyze the flute solo. I thought you were going to burst into tears, and I was so surprised that you did not. You are an analytical maven.
This track has such a Matrix vibe. Agreed. Chef's kiss
Friendly reminder to check out some more of Cory Wong. that horn section is to die for!
You need to check out Dave Valentin. He is a master of jazz and latino flute-playing.
With respect to those insane chords... Way back in the 70s, when referring to wild chords, my dad would often say, "That was a Scandanavian 16th!" It always cracked me up. Interesting how ironic considering that Dirty Loops hail from Sweden. Was my dad a little prescient? As I said in my comments from Thriller, you are a GREAT reactor for this! You know about music, and you clearly appreciate the artistry and mastery they display! Another great reaction! (p.s. LOVED your response to the flute magic! ESPECIALLY that you shared some of your OWN magic! MUST ask... do you actually hold the flute to your left? Or is that a "trick of the camera... like a mirror image?)
You mentioned their level of musicality, you should definetly check out a collaboration of Mr Aron Mellergårdh, the drummer, video editor, songwriter of DL. He is one of the creators for a modern classical masterpiece called Mega march. The level of talent is out of this world and nothing but a true source of inspiration. Despite so much questionable mainstream music these days, feel So blessed living in a time, able to take part in their true creation of art 😇
How very lovely with a reactor who give this piece the appreciation it deserves! Thanks!
You have the same horn section throughout the Turbo album, so maybe try Follow the light, and Turbo? Not as smooth and generous as Ring of Saturn, but you might like it just the same!
Thanks for a great reaction! This is a favourite song of mine from the album. Love the melody in it, the soft feeling and vibe and the flute solo is 😌
I promise you will LOVE Dirty Loop & Cory Wing in the track TURBO 😏
If you want to hear more "flute singing" and general badass flute playing Jethro Tull is an amazing band for that. Ian Anderson is a god with flute. There’s an amazing live version of Locomotive Breath from 1982 in RUclips or just searching for Jethro Tull flute solo gives you one from the 70s that is really cool.
Girl, I'm sure you'll get the chance of playing on a great band jazz soon 🙌🏼
Wait a minute, they told you there was no flute in jazz? They actually said that with a straight face? I guess they never heard of Hubert Laws.
Hubert Laws (born November 10, 1939) is an American flutist and saxophonist with a career spanning over 50 years in jazz, classical, and other music genres. Laws is one of the few classical artists who has also mastered jazz, pop, and rhythm-and-blues genres, moving effortlessly from one repertory to another. He has three Grammy nominations.
You might want to check out Björn J:son Lindh if you want extended techinques on flute, just as an example "A Day At The Surface"
I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world.
Meet Diana Ankudinova!
Diana has the title - Queen of Goosebumps.
Challenge yourself, can you resist the charm of her voice?
One of the last comments about Diana's voice:
Pffff.... her voice is really very special, unclassifiable, atypical, out of the ordinary... 💖
1) super unique voice (dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones);
2) the most complex vocal techniques, a bewitching voice;
3) Diana sings in 6 languages : English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic and any musical genre;
4) incredible charisma, artistry and living of any song;
5) a vocal range of 4 octaves;
6) a large army of fans around the world;
7) an independent artist, without producers and labels, only with the support of fans and reactors like you;
8) more than 20 thousand reactions (all collected in my playlists).

A bit heavy on the hype there.
To me there's somewhat of a Steely Dan "Aja" feel to many of the chord progressions. Very cool. 🎶
Ken, the flautist, is also epic on the tenor sax. Check out Turbo by Dirty Loops for his fantastic altissimo solo.
You are still young and talented ..GO FOR IT
Cory and the Wongnotes more than hold their own. The Hornheads: Kenni Holmen, Michael Nelson, and Steve Strand toured with Prince. Jon Lampley, on trumpet, is or was a part of The Late Show Band. Grace Kelly, on woodwinds, is a huge star in her own right. Try "Turbo" by Cory and the Wongnotes and Dirty Loops to see the Wongnotes being featured more the Dirty Loops.
Bossa nova has a ton of flute :) it's jazz
100000% need to know if you are familiar with Snarky Puppy. If so, incredible. If not, Epic flute and jazz fusion galore. Tio Macaco. That song. And then you're hooked on the album. And then the band. I don't even know how many Grammys they have now...
Nice reaction. In the 70's we had Jethro Tull for flute players and Canned Heat using flute. My daughter is also a flutist (she made state in high school) and still plays in community band every year, so she does get a chance to play some jazz.
Nice! I was an all state flutist as well! I’m glad she still plays! 🥰
Yeah check out Herbie mann and several others jazz flutists from 60s.. 70s and 80s..
This is totally my favorite Dirty Loops song! I adore it! So smooth, so delicate. It's _achingly_ gorgeous, and I love that there's a flute solo.
as it turned out ... tonight ... this video :)
Thanks, its wonderful hearing your reaction to this, and, especially: your dream! Ever heard of Chris Hinze? You probably did, but just in case you didn't: listen to him, you'll be thrilled I think!
Dave Valentin - Flute Juice
In the 70's Janko Nilovic wrote the "Drug Song". A true 70's jazz/funk fusion with some very interesting wind instruments. (I am a bit biased because he is half Greek but he is awesome)
If you like jazz/fusion music with flute then definitely check "עץ שנופל" (Falling Tree) by Pinhas & Sons.
I think the composition is really good and the time signature going in this tune is spicy.
But most importantly, it has one of the coolest flute solo I ever heard.
I love dirty loops and cory wong. If you love that flute solo i would definitely listen to sparkling in the sand by tower of power. Its a flute and Trumpet solo out of this world. I played Trumpet in school and i listened to that solo on repeat.
PLEASEEEEE, hear Nestor Torres. Jazz flute all the time, 100%.

Check out Jethro Tull Ian Anderson flute sings all the time.
Hello there ☺️... I just wanted to recommend Dizzy Gillespie's record on Jazz 625, an old tv show/record where they play flute too with blues and bebop vocabulary. Nice video too 🙌🏼.
solo un musico tiene alma hecha de musica, por eso nos conecta tanto con emociones que cualquiera no entiende
You should check out "Focus - Hocus Pocus Live '73" for a short and crazy flute action and an overall fun experience.
It's about Dirty loops' honorary parents, and a flute. Let's me explain : the current generation was bluffed and more by Dirty Loops, justly, when they issued Working Shit and Near to you. My generation (I'm about 60) was also bluffed by the virtuosity of a jazz trio, Canadians named UZEB. I could imagine them being some kind of parents to Dirty Loops.
Now about the flute : ruclips.net/video/M0CcSuJeQSE/видео.html, feel free to jump to 04;55 to see what I mean with the flute. But you're also totally invited to look at the whole video, and that will allow you to maybe see the «parentage» between UZEB and Dirty Loops
Greatings from Germany ❤
great reaction ! Now you got in the reverse Rabbit hole , please react on their latest ‘Run Away’..
(it will also help you in the algorithm reaction to runaway) posted 5 days ago and allready 330k views 😉
Great reaction. I knew you would like this one. Sadly there´s no more flute with Dirty Loops. The same guy plays a nice sax solo in another instrumental with Dirty Loops and Cory Wong called Turbo. It´s a much faster piece, funky and fun. It´s definitely worth checking out.
Never believe people that do not understand extended techniques. Check out year 1982 performance Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath for an example.
Gil Scot-Heron “The revolution will not be televised “
Have you gotten to play in a jazz band since then?
My flute playing career was derailed when my clarinet playing friend asked to try my flute and played far better than I ever had. That's when I knew that flute wasn't going to be my thing, but I do enjoy listening to it. It's probably part of why I enjoy Jethro Tull so much and I look forward to you reacting to one of their pieces someday.
Unfortunately, I still haven’t had much of a chance to do jazz work. I’ve done so much classical work since that’s what is expected of me, but I have had the opportunity to work with world renowned jazz flutists in masterclasses. 🥺
I am proud to be Swedish.
Sax is everything... pink panther theme song proves it...
Love this reaction as well. I'm a sax player that can fake clarinet and flute. haha
Hey NittPicc its from 1974 but if you want jazz flute check out Galapagos Duck - Ebony quill
Should check out Hot Water by King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, it's and awesome flute rock song. Live is the only way to go.
Hubert Laws!
So here's something you might like - ruclips.net/video/4fI4kLDh5r0/видео.htmlsi=5RSgbgOMj6EAZzbs - an awesome big band arrangement of the 'Game of Thrones' theme with French horns subbing in for the sax section and, more importantly, a killer flute solo. Enjoy!
Focus - Hocus Pocus, is a must for you.
Let me correct my spelling , it’s Kenni Holmen !
You, my friend, just officially raised the bar on reaction videos for everyone on RUclips! Your excitement is infectious, and you are refreshingly genuine. I just discovered Dirty Loops a couple weeks ago, and I'm besides myself. I've been scouring the internet for reaction videos ever since - listening to Dirty Loops is like smoking crack - I gotta have more IMMEDIATELY or I'll go insane!
Besides literally every other DL song, I hope you have also discovered Johan Nilsson's solo stuff. Diamond Ring is pretty amazing: ruclips.net/video/6CKzaB7Mobw/видео.htmlsi=2GTPFca_bXo1XK76 - as is, Bad (MJ cover)ruclips.net/video/3mK1smj5rzQ/видео.htmlsi=dJp_8nJVJWqA8hvl
