I started down the rabbit hole with dirty loops in 2018- 19, and never looked back… this is what NO FEAR looks like, they don’t play to a dying music industry, this is ART for arts Sake, what would happen if we did this, Well, let’s find out! That’s what made the 1970s so great, before everything got monolithic, marginalized, you will listen to what we feed you, say good - by to Albums, now say good by to CDs and record stores, you can stream, have nothing and be happy…..No, this is the new rebellion, Against restrictions…… let open our minds to the endless possibilities, technically has never been greater, let’s use it, push, One can only imagine what they will do next..as long as it pushes boundaries,we need to encourage it, so others will continue!
As a bass player I ask myself: Is Henrik Linder still a bassist at this point? He fills so many roles in this song. He is like a multi instrumentalist who happens to just use the bass guitar all the time. 🙂 What a cool and humble guy! And what a song! Wow, can't get enough of it. Dirty loops never fail to surprise, impress and entertain. Love it.
Yeah… as a Bassist, I just shake my head and start studying what he is doing to see what little part of that haystack of impossible stuff I can learn and use part of… The most stunning part of the music is seeing and hearing how well they listen to each other… ensemble playing at the highest level.
The most epic 80s parody! Elton John, Steve Stevens/Billy Sheehan and Alex Van Halen. And the stage, light everythin is so Journey etc. And as usual brilliant performance. Its there sense of humor thats sets the spot.
So nice to hear you explain what you hear and perceive. It takes skills to not be overwhelmed by this piece and just say “what waaaas that?” So glad you reacted, and so enjoyed this, and gave Dirty Loops some well deserved praise! Hope you enjoy the concert (100 % certainty on that).
First time I heard it dude, I was like. Wow not sure about that, not sure I like this direction. Now I can't stop listening to it. One of the first time I've heard dirty loops and didn't "get it". I'm used to alot more syncopation, rests, stops, funk etc. This wall of sound is intimidating on first listen, but I get it now lol and it's legendary. would be epic live
Hey Tony, I know I´m a little late to your party but... best comment ever: "Yeah, of course Henrik" that was the coolest and most fitting comment to date ;-)
About the bass there, yes the E string has a 2 fret extension to D so the glue vise acts like a capo. The tuner for that string actually sits at the back of the body behind the bridge, and that is actually a Hipshot D-tuner, so the E- string can actually drop down to C
I am a bass player for over 20 years and this still blows me away. Plus I'll also be going to the Seattle show. Got my VIP tickets for the meet and greet. And last thing, I also teach music but over on the peninsula side. Looking forward to maybe meeting you and discussing who we know, including former students that we share.
Yeah, really crazy! Crazy good and crazy crazy 😄 Henrik’s extra hands, split etc, Jonah’s sparkling clothes and last but not least in pink leggings - Ke.. no Aron! 🙃
What I think, Tony?! First of all, great reaction and analysis, I appreciate the way you look at it, from a musical perspective. Not sure but you might’ve missed Henrik’s epic splits at the end of his second solo 🤣 The whole thing is such a mix between a sendup and a masterpiece. Someone mentioned the name ARON written on Henrik’s fake hand, at the beginning, and wondered if it was a tribute to Aron, writing so much of their stuff, including Henrik’s bass lines… Yeah, they both lock in perfectly, it’s uncanny. Also Jonah on his keyboards -the way he plays percussively is 😱 Yet someone else again had flashbacks to a Taylor Swift song, along with the repetitive ‘for ever, ever, ever, ever…’ So many ways to see this as a parody of sorts, whilst they’re paying tribute to the 80s at the same time (Aron’s headband, Jonah’s glitter stuff, and Henrik’s guitar poses and his fake cigarette on a fake headstock, on a fake double-necked bass:) Their chops -incredible. To hear them live, what a joy that will be 🔥✌️🤘👍🤘✌️👍💥 And I cannot wait for the rest of their new album to drop! Thanks for that react, man 🙏
I feel like music nerds who also enjoy catchy pop songs are eating GOOD lately. Dirty Loops, Jacob Collier, Tori Kelly, Baby Metal, even Polyphia to a degree. When I was growing up I had to preface everything I would show my normie friends like “oh yeah the song you might not enjoy but wait for the solo!” The vaaast majority of virtuoso performances would be in genres only other musicians enjoyed listening to for the most part. I love this so much. Henrik went full Tom Morello
The Tom Morello reference is spot on, the way he pushed the sound right up to scratching at times. Crossing over from string to percussion. Last time I saw/heard such a quantum leap on an instrument, it was hearing Eruption for the first time, being told it was not done via synthesizer and not believing it.
Dirty loops don’t miss! I’m still new to bass, but I’m getting there. There’s so many guys online now social media/youtube etc who can just absolutely shred it’s unreal. Can be a bit discouraging, but recently I’ve taken that as encouragement and just more people to learn from.
Genious level fun and crazy - they´re great, thought this was a bit simple at first but there is complexity and Henriks Bass work is incredible - think Aron had a lot of influence on this?! Thanks!
And yes - used to play bass, what is keeping me back from picking it up again? -Next level Henrik is the answer, but i enjoy Dirty Loops immensely - as everything turns red in the video - mind is blown everytime i watch
Excellent vocal production and Engineering.Sounds incredible.Drums also. Really, ALL Engineering. ALL OF IT. They are smart. They are doing an anthem to catch as much people as possible and to connecting with everybody, and then people will start looking back to their other music.
I mean, it's not ALL engineering... their musicianship is off the charts. I have been listening to them for years and years. Shitty musicians can have the best engineering but it's not going to create chops and insane musical prowess out of thin air.
I got this 80s rock music vibe when I listen the intro, kinda reminds me of Rocky 4 music, when he was training hard on a cold winter day before his match against Ivan Drago 😄😄
As a bass player... yeah... Henrik routinely blows my mind with every single release they do. Him and Charles Berthoud both. Ugh. It's so inspiring but they make me feel incompetent at the same time.
I like to think of it this way, as a bassist I like to be technically proficient and consistent as possible in all types of music, including being able to shred in unison with a drummer and guitarist if needed....but I'm not a soloist but I don't really need to be lol...... Henrik Linder is a uniquely gifted bassist but you don't "have" to be like him lol. Be good at what you do and keep trying to improve on it.
Do what you can, the best you can, you don't have to be the best in the world you just have to be good enough for people to like. Music is a universal language, lots of people speaking in different ways.
I’m glad I found your channel! You connect with music similarly to the way that I do. I did marching percussion (mostly snare drum) middle school through college (east coast HBCU with a blend of high-step groove and corps-style chops). Plus jazz band in high school (drums, keyboard, then bass guitar), played professionally in an orchestra in college (percussion and timpani), then toured a bit on bass guitar after college. I’m on the west coast now freelancing on bass guitar as well as some drums.
Allmost all is covered in the commentery fields what this is about is a 80ish kinda joke from DL, but i cant remember who drumber from that time sit in his underwear with white shoes in the stage? Dirty Lopps never fail... Saw them live two and a half weeks ago in Pattaya Thailand. They play as you see them
Music is now back to being fun, where it should have been all along. They took the " bass out of the basement ", are willing to further shift things around, and they have just begun.
I knew you were gonna react to this, Dirty loops always with something new and blowing our minds, finally henrick being " the star" of the song, i think you miss the arms and the legs.
The other thing about this track is that it's a ridiculous earworm. I've had the "run away" chorus stuck in my head since I first saw it, and it won't leave! Oh, and yeah, I'm a bass player. But I feel like given how (poorly) I play, I basically don't play the same instrument as Henrik, so I can just enjoy watching him do his amazing stuff, content in the knowledge that there's no way I'll ever be playing that.
I love the dramatic entrance. I really liked this. It's big and anthemic. I think it touches in a positive "I'm here too!" way with what Polyphia and Tim Henson has been doing. I may be wrong and someone can certainly correct me but this may have been done around Halloween hence the costumes possibly. Regardless, I'm still here for it.
I only had my cell phone speaker but it sounds like Aron is playing with a double pedal? I don't think even Terry Bozzio could play these licks with a single pedal.
Great reaction! I recommend you react to "Vengeance" by coldrain, the opening song of the new anime called "Ninja Kamui" and it would be great if there is a full song analysis. Peace !✌
Yep. I agree. Not much to it lyrically. And when you listen to that, it’s actually a little depressing, notwithstanding the upbeat, soaring melody. Still, so tasty it’s on repeat just the same
This song fixed my week and then some. SHEEEEESSSSHHHH!!!!
dirty loops dont miss dude.
This tune Is my new "pump up" tune, yall. What a power house!
Love how Dirty Loops blows everyones mind, i seen live the other day amazing band also got to meet them such nice guys 🤘🏽😎👍🏽🐺

Henrik forgot he´s a bass player and went full on Van Halen and Steve Vai. Mixed with amazing vibes from FM-84 and The Midnight...this is pure gold.
Henrik Van Halen!
💯

@DoSeOst, he’s redefining the role of the bass, for sure… 👍
💯

Yeah! 👍
The almost… "Discomfort" on your face during that second bass solo completely sold it for me. It's why we watch reaction videos, for the "WTF…"
Haha yep
The most epic 80s parody! Elton John, Steve Stevens/Billy Sheehan and Alex Van Halen. And the stage, light everythin is so Journey etc. And as usual brilliant performance. Its there sense of humor thats sets the spot.

INSANE! They are from another planet, and i’m glad they dropped by..❤️

This is the first single from their new album. FYI, the graphic on the purple background is the cover for the new album. More to come !!
Notice Henrik's 'spread leg', 'guitar god' stance at 8:12. 😂
for me the craziest thing he does with that bass is how he gets those super clean Dream Theater-esque guitar tones
Van Halen like
It’s the pedals he’s using + the whammy, sounds damn awesome though and I love how Henrik is kinda like mixing the guitar and bass roles here
And Henrik’s crazy ”split” and extra arms… 😂 I so totally love these guys - musicianship, crazyness and all.
who is this crazy band bro i saw this title and instantly checked them out.. found a couple of instant favorites
Swedish jazz fusión trio. They are funkd up to the Max!
Sounds like you have made a wonderful discovery.
Have fun - they are pure gold! :-)
Welcome to the Dirty Loops universe ☺️👍
You are loopified bro ... for ever :)
Such an epic song. Can't wait to see Dirty Loops live on April 6! My guess is this will be the opener.
Did se them 2 weeks ago in Pattaya Thailand. They play as you se them at studio recordings. This song is one level up

I get the Billy sheehan or even the EVH on Henriks playing style. But dude how come nobody's mentioning Tom Morello in those high pitched squeals
Anthem status! I'm so glad I got to discover them through you! Amazing craftsmanship

They have a really powerful 4th musician: their sound Engineer. Definitely, without him, this is NOT the same thing.
100%
Henrick is so good at doing the splits. I wish the song had more bass.
stupidly good sums it up

I actually think the melody is weak. Musicianship is top notch of course.
Well, I'll take Lorna Shore any day before this... Sure, I like melody but this is just too much.
