      @@AdamDray Lol! As soon as he said that, I thought, "Well, you may not PLAY it on a loop, but trust me at some point, part of this song will loop itself of its own accord throughout your brain & you'll start hearing it like a low volume soundtrack playing in the background, whenever you have a moment of silence. Just a heads up!" Or maybe that's just me...

      @@SteveOGRock Don't worry, with your musician's ear, you'll be hearing parts of this galloping around in your brain while you're trying to sleep in no time, regardless of how many times you've not played it! 😂 Sometimes I skip this one in the car, because I like the catchy singable ones so much, but this one works its way into my head regardless, those rhythms! Those chords! To me, it's like a carousel ride with a runaway horse, that leaves you topsy-turvy when you dismount! 😂

    Jonah drifts from Lyle Mays to Chick Corea...and back again...and again. The depth of musicianship in this group makes you take special notice. The piece moves from the groove to the piano improv to a massive drum riff...and the bass is like a T Rex back bone throughout. It's been a while since I've been blown away like with these guys.

    This is just bonkers. I normally don't listen to stuff this jazzy, but there's something so appealing about what they're bringing to the table. Such a unique tapestry of sound and outrageous musicianship. The drums were obviously the hero here, but the other two weren't resting on their laurels, either. The synchronicity and the search for the downbeat here is just a mind-melting puzzle that pays off time and again. So cool to watch. Glad I got to experience this with you for the first time. What a wild ride. 🤯🤣

I think the name of the guy that records percussion for them is Andreas Ekstedt, but they forgot to mention him in the credits of this one, and made a whole story of why they didn't mention him here, in the credits of Next To You instead. They are so silly. :D
    Also, Aron doesn't play double kick. Ever. He said, in an interview, that he bought one when he was 13-14, but his older brother (who also plays the drums) told him that he sucked at playing single, and shouldn't start with a double before he mastered the single kick. He's stuck to single kick ever since. :)

      Pure chance really. I started watching NFL late at night back in 2007 and the Eagles happened to be the first team I decided to root for. I’ve been an avid fan since. Even flew to Minneapolis to see them win the super bowl in 2018!

    Very good reaction but in many of your reactions with DL you are mostly focused on bass and drums and say nothing about keyboard. You may like bass and drums the most but I think Jonah is damn good at his instrument.

    • @SteveOGRock
      @SteveOGRock  2 года назад +3

      It’s just because I am a far more advanced drummer and bassist than pianist myself so I have more points of view to offer on it. It’s clear than Jonah is an immense musician but I don’t have as much knowledge to understand and comment on the particulars of what he’s doing really.

    Double kicks? You doubles in the single pedal. My man doesn’t cheat and use a double bass pedal

    • @SteveOGRock
      @SteveOGRock  6 месяцев назад

      It’s not “cheating” to use double pedals. It’s opening up a world of possibility for your left leg to join in coordination. Turning one’s nose up at double pedals is turning one’s nose up at innovation and development.

      @@SteveOGRock sure it’s cheating. The greats are fast enough not to. Red double pedals. Only needed for metal because that genre is all about speed - not complexity
