Thank you for this video. The 2004 F150 (videos online) transmission cable adjustment is different from 2005-08. This video pertain to all F150 2005-08, on how to adjust them. I was able to get my gear shifter to line back up. Awesome job, and again, thank you.

I'm having issue with 07' not starting in park only starts in neutral.. Will following this video fix my problem?

I had no start in Park, only in Neutral. And this fixed it. The shifter cable gets stretched out over time I guess and that adjustable clip allows you to correct that issue.

You did not explain why you had to remove cover in the vehicle and what you did under there. What was the point to remove shift cover? I do not understand

My apologies. I wanted to double what condition the cable connection near gear stick is at. My problem wasn't there, it was under the car near transmission.

Where under the car is this located. Everyone keeps skipping the location of the switch

Crawl under the truck where the driver's doors are. It's on the driver's side of the transmission.

Some have you adjusting while in Park. I'm still having issues, but see you use Drive. Any comments to this? I will try your version today.
I have a neutral safety switch, but would like to rule out everything.

@Strib420 I just followed whatever the manual says and it worked like a charm in my case. I think it's a good idea to adjust it in D because you're in the middle, in the center in other words of a path talking about the distance between D to P compared to D to 1, if that makes sense.

@@fixitorleaveit4393 Seems logical. My P position seemed to have a bit of play. Trying to rule out the adjustment before moving to the neutral safety switch. I'm using OEM parts fyi.

Is there any other adjustments you can make , besides the end piece , like to shorten the overall length of the cable

From my amateur DIYer point of view, I'd say no there isn't.
For example if your plastic grommet at the end of the cable is damaged, if that's the case, and you can't use that adjustable mechanism, I'd say the less painful way is to replace the cable and you're good for the rest of the life of your truck. Or, give that grommet a good clean up, put everything in a proper setup position in D, then close it, glue it with some good grade and proper glue/silicone. That's what I'd do in an emergency but I'd also order new cable and replace it anyway.

@@fixitorleaveit4393 i found out on my truck, that the little plastic grommet on the end has 2 layers. the top layer needs to be pried out and seperated from the bottom layer, once you get it in place. that keeps the bushing tight on the lever of the transmission switch linkage.

That's correct, separate it, adjust it, clip it back in place.
