2011 Audi A5 2.0 TFSI, what's doing that weird noise...
Another day, another problem with Audi engineering. This is just an intro. I haven't had the time to go after it.
When fired up it sounds like I have a weird extensive air flow from somewhere, kinda like a vacuum cleaner.
It's only doing it at the first start up when the engine is cold. I took it for a spin, pushed her hard, 140km/h, pulls like a beast, no weird noises, no hesitation, nothing wrong at all.
Share your thoughts, ideas in the comment section, I'll greatly appreciate it.

2005 Ford F150 front differential removal, install & SURPRISE
Просмотров 5 тыс.10 месяцев назад
In this video I'm gonna show you why and how I had to replace front differential on my 2005 Ford F150. My old one failed. Got stuck in 4H. The truck was making a funny grinding noise on 2H starting around 50 km/h and when I switched to 4H it immediately stopped. So I drove it for a while in 4H and then it happened. Loud noise at 80kmh like a steel against the steel, got the truck to a hard shou...

2011 Audi A5 S-line, oil pressure switches

Audi, VW and probably Skoda and Seat with 2.0T engines have 2 oil switches. Which one goes where and what are their parameters ? In this video they are mounted on 2011 Audi A5 2.0T engine CAEB, which you could find in other Audis of A series, Q series as well and many more models, plus in VW cars with for example 1.4 and 2.5 units. The blue one is prone to fail, it is rated for higher pressure....

This is also a similar process for other Audis like Audi A3, A5, possibly Q series Audi Q3, Q5.... There are multiple ways how to replace the front bearing. When I worked on it I just realized that this might be the best way for me at that current moment without any planning on doing it like that honestly. First I thought I'd remove one of those bottom ball joints but then I decided otherwise. ...

I was very busy with my building and fencing projects on the property and I had just about time to fix only emergencies on my cars. One of them is to build a new garage with more room. Can't wait for it! In this video though is a very short look at projects that are waiting for me, some of them more than 2 years. Let's get to it!

I also got this code...P0430 I won't show you the whole process of fixing it, just the cause. The car performed really well, there was no hesitation whatsoever, just that sound. Let's open up Pandora's box and see what I found.

Which door’s door switch is the more common one to be bad? Did you resolve your dome lights staying on with an instrument cluster repair?
The one which gets more abused I guess. My dome lights work fine, bot sure what was the problem exactly. Maybe an user error...😉
Really good video, gave me confidence to go change mine, but I ran into a surprise: the 2023 A5 Sportback has a different filter style. It's curved and off center to the right. Sadly the filter isn't single direction either like this one with the slant, so pay attention to direction if you've got the same as me.
Thanks for that excellent video, answered some questions especially about the products I was eyeballing. I’m curious if you think compression could drop from 185 to 60 psi on a few cylinders while doing cam replacement due to carbon settling around the valves? At this point is the only explanation I have with the cylinder head off and looking at the clearances (thot things were bent but not at all the case. Quite dirty so…
I'm glad it helped. To your compression drop - I don't know exactly what you've done so it's hard to tell ut it shouldn't drop if you do the cam replacement properly. Double check the timing first I guess. It might be 1 tooth off, that's the 1st thing which came up in my mind.
Is the front differential fill plug a pipe (NPT) plug? If so what size? 1/2"? 3/8"? Thanks!
I've never measured it and have never seen an information what type/size that one is.
Excellent!
I have that same conecter like in previous video, Aux conecter, one side goes in the radio like you did, and then i have one usb and one make jack on the other side. So now what’s my problem, i bought video car player and i want to conected to Aux. So i guess i need that small conecter female from both side like you had, to connect there, one side, and the other in this device(video car player) right? I hope you understand what i was saying 😅
Just buy it at local store with audio department or online. Good luck with your install!
those holes on the white piece is where the screws that hold the foamy guard attach 🤔
Can you place an air freshener right there?
Excellant! I was stressing out trying to figure out why my truck won't start after installing new shifter cable. This must be why! I adjusted it in park position. Hope this works. Thanks for video.
Anyone aware of the size of the OEM bolt that WASNT present in this creators Audi? Thanks in advance
This is one of the most detailed automotive instructions I've ever seen on RUclips. Very well done five stars
Thank you! I tried to do my best.
Was that carrier really that loose? Zero pre-load holding it into the case?
That thing was totally chewed up. I bought it from a farmer dirt cheap in a bad shape, barely running. Fixed it bit by bit but never gotten to check on the front diff. Maybe it was caused by a low or no oil, or it was abused on his farm already amd it was just a matter of time when it blows.
Thanks as well. I changed mine using this video.
Wonder if your PTU is the exact same one in my 2019 Taurus? My is a Limited though, not a SHO.
I'm not 100% sure. I might be wrong but I don't think they made different PTUs though. My SHO project is still dormant while I'm tirelessly working on my new garage.
Those water pumps a Failure as soon as they designed that engine.
I don't like that design neither but with a proper maintenance every flaw might not become a nightmare.
You made a great video, very detailed and nice recording. Thank you for taking the time to put this together for others to benefit
Thank you. Hope you found it beneficial for you.
Thanks
Hi, my a5 3.0tdi has an issue similar to yours, my aux belt has come off and failed 3 times, there is oil around my engine just like yours, just to confirm, do you think the oil dripping on the belt caused the failure
From what I know of, the engine oil can deteriorate the belt and also cause the belt to slip, so my answer is yes.

did you checked the intercooler hoses?
No I have not. I'm kinda waiting how this unfolds due to some other major stuff going on and the car besides the start-up runs absolutely fine.
I damn near pulles all the carpet out in that area & I do not have a connector in that location,.is there a secondary location for that connection?
There's no second location I know of. The video is for a 2 door version, if you have a sedan it might be somewhere else.
👍👍👍
Some have you adjusting while in Park. I'm still having issues, but see you use Drive. Any comments to this? I will try your version today. I have a neutral safety switch, but would like to rule out everything.
@Strib420 I just followed whatever the manual says and it worked like a charm in my case. I think it's a good idea to adjust it in D because you're in the middle, in the center in other words of a path talking about the distance between D to P compared to D to 1, if that makes sense.
@@fixitorleaveit4393 Seems logical. My P position seemed to have a bit of play. Trying to rule out the adjustment before moving to the neutral safety switch. I'm using OEM parts fyi.
Your fake ash for that you really made me try that and get dirty for it not to work
superb video, thanks so much🙏
Great video exactly what I was looking for. Have an 04 2.4 5mt accord gonna do the same within a week or so
Smells like 87oct
Is there still static coming from the speakers when the music is paused?
@ericcastro6159 no it's not. If you experience such thing there's a cheap device you can buy and there's no guarantee but it's a good chance it would eliminate it. I bought it for my other car and it worked well

Nice work! I think you could have done it. One thing about abrasive stones is that they load up. Think of a bench grinder. After a while the pores of the stone are loaded with smeared metal. This stops the cutting action. The way to fix is to dress the stone. You use abrasive to actually sand to new material on the stone and it will cut again. Of course as others mentioned, cutting oil, would also help with avoiding loading. I saw one builder (Uncle Tony's Garage) recommend gas. I would guess the thin viscosity would make good sense. Kerosene or Diesel may offer a little more lube (and of course slower cutting). I'll probably try gas when I hone my Mitsubishi/Toro diesel mower's block.
Thanks. I got to a point when I gave up. I needed to get it done ASAP before rebuilding my garage. Just working on my new garage and I put this project to sleep for now.
Awesome instructions
Hello my name is Brian.. I hope you don't mind me asking but did you ever finish the SHO ? Im currently undecided on buying a used engine with 140,000 miles or buy a new Short Block Direct from Ford or Doing a Rebuild like you have... Also how much did it cost to have your block/ cylinders redone at the machine shop ? Please help me if you can... Thanks for your help and understanding
It's on hold for now. I'm planning on putting the block together this summer. If I'd have the money I'd buy a new block for sure. You never know how the old engine was treated. And when it comes to a cost, I have some records somewhere, only thing I remember that the rebore cost me 360 bucks. Canadian.

To use this bluetooth adapter i need to first get the aux adapter? Because my honda accord doesnt have Aux cord
Do you get answers by now?
I'm sorry I haven't seen your question. Yes, you're correct, you would need an aux adapter first and then a bt by your choice
Good vid thanks 😊
About to do this on my own Audi thanks for the detailed info!
Good luck with that! ✌️
Is heavy sludge in engine causes low compression and hennce long cranking issues in the morning???
It's hard to tell from one sentence. There might be multiple issues, starting with low fuel pressure, power issue, bad battery, starter, bad contact somewhere, spark plugs, stuck piston rings, you name it... But I don't think a heavy sludge would cause long cranking.
Hello, I hope you can help me explain. Besides the 2 stones, what use are the remaining 2 brooms? ,, I look forward to your explanation,, Thank
I'm pretty sure besides cleaning the cylinder wall it's also meant to keep the honing tool centered in the cylinder. Imagine they're not there and it's rotating just with 2 stones sitting on opposite sides. I believe that wouldn't have worked well.
@@fixitorleaveit4393 I really appreciate this is a satisfactory explanation,,thank you for sharing,,wishing you and your family happiness
. Как называется этот инструмент
I hope this translation is correct : этот инструмент представляет собой хонинговальный инструмент, который мягко шлифует поверхность цилиндра
I’m on the fence about this product. Actually just learned about this type of ring and why it is helpful. I’m looking to rebuild my turbo 6.0 LS, I e got a dead cylinder, cyl 5-50 psi. All the rest 180 psi. Your video is the first video not from the seller so I wanted to know about your motor and how it’s till running?
Thank you for your message! In last 2 years I was more focused on building some structures on my property and there was literally no time to spend on my engine. I ended up installing a crank and pistons with piston rings. I might have some time this winter to keep working on it. Also, but it's just a plan now, once I'm done with my SHO I'm planning on replacing piston rings on my next project car Audi A5 2.0T known for high oil consumption due to a bad design of their piston rings. Personally I strongly believe that you won't make a mistake choosing these rings for your engine. I have no proof to say that but the system they offer looks pretty good to me.
What was the result with the SHO
@@thefantasticpendejo6182still in sleep. Some other stuff in life came up which I'll post a video about when the time comes. I might start putting the SHO together before the winter comes.
Much respect. Thanks for the knowledge
I have honed so many cylinders with this exact hone. Over the course of time I've discovered I can correct cylinder taper out of round everything with this hone it just takes a lot of time small shims to adjust the angle of and knowing how much pressure to put on the stones. I use the 80 grit with a torque plate and I can get it pretty damn straight! Then I bring it up with a 220 grit stones to the final size then I use a BRS ball hone for final finish.
Great idea with those shims. I was actually able to get rid of taper but one part of stones was getting worn out faster and I had no idea what to do with it besides swapping them out for a new set. Did you use some lubricant or did you hone it dry?
@@fixitorleaveit4393 the stones tend to wear on the bottom faster than the top. I typically have to put a .004 feeler gauge under the bottom side after honing for a while I'll remove the stones and I will rub them together and then rinse them off rub them together rinse them off I just use mineral oil for the lube
Cual es el modelo del car audio interface? Porfavor
It's in the description of the video
I have a Honda accord 2011 with the same problem, I changed the boths sensors, but the problem persist. Is there another solution?
Exhaust or intake gas leaks, improper fuel pressure, bad injector (s), or even some electrical problem in wiring between O2 sensor connector under the seat to ECU. The worst would be if your new O2 sensors are bad which is always the last thought but it's an option too...
only paid $12 for sensor i replaced cat one but still got issue, im putting tape over the light
How long did this take, real time?
About 1 hour ish but I didn't rush it
@@fixitorleaveit4393 Hey thanks for the reply! I appreciate you letting me know!!
I'm a chevy guy but I must say I'm really impressed with ford and their ecoboost line. I know the second gen 2.7/3.0 blocks are CGI, I think the whole 2nd gen platform has port and direct injection. Electronic wastegates, upgraded turbos with lighter turbine wheels and steeper vane angles. They really did their homework on this platform, with some really impressive numbers, especially the ford gt. They don't leave much room for improvement.
Once you put the cylinder head back on how would you go about getting all of the air out of the system since the block has been drained?
I'm sorry I can't remember. That was my one and only Civic so far and it was long time ago.
You need a trueing cylinder to parallel the stones after they're installed in the racks., number them so they always go back in the same rack. You can use an old engine block for trueing by honing first from the top then from the bottom until the cylinder is parallel with no taper. After doing this on a couple of cylinders your stones will be wiped true.
Or put it on a lathe with a single point diamond wheel dresser in the tool post and travel the length of the stones making it true
After you have used the lisle 15000, would you purchase it again, knowing what you've learned.??
I'd buy another brand just to see how it works. But if I wouldn't like to try something else I'd definitely buy Lisle again.
The lisle is ok for occasional use, I used one for years. Once I got a sunnen AN815 I haven’t used my lisle. There’s a lot more choices in abrasives for the AN style hone. But you need to have the need to justify the cost of the more expensive hones.
