  • This is a huge must for an F250 F350 trucks with manual transmissions. This can also apply for many other vehicles with clutch pedals that have some kinda of plastic rod ring to hold the pedal in place, overtime all plastic rings break and have failures like this if the design is similar.

    I loved Matthew’s comment. “Why are people not helping you ?” ❤️
    Matthew, that’s just the way people are. You talk your Poppa into moving y’all to Texas and there will be lots of friendly people willing to help.

    A couple of things.
    1 Great Visual Coverage and care in cutting in proper location.
    2 The name of the part U Slide the push rod in is a Heim Joint
    3 No need for Lock Washer, use Flat washer on both sides of Heins.
    4 To Secure rod on Heins use JB Weld and tighten the set screw as well.
    Note: If someone was to cut the push rod a little short they could simply remove the pivot arm and Spring and readjust the arm to allow for a full depth push to the floor. Just move it in 1 spline notch should do it.

    As followed per instructions, this swivel pushes against the clutch safety switch preventing the clutch pedal to go all the way down to the clutch pedal stop

      I am having that issue too. I think Nick wasn't pushing the pedal all the way to the floor in the video. I haven't figured out a solution yet.

    With this upgrade u can’t push the clutch all the way in, and if ur not careful the new bushing can smash that little electrical connector if u push the clutch a little too hard

      I didn’t work for me either this way. I think it’s for older vehicles. On my 99, I measured the overall length and welded the bearing to the shaft to match original length. Afterwards, I cut off the end where the shaft is suppose to inside the housing. So in other words, I welded the shaft to the opposite side. After I cut off the end of the bearing, I smooth down with a sanding disc. Works perfect.

      @@JimSoukup-ix9fd I took the electric clutch safety thing off and on an OBS 7.3 with an auto, they have an identical plug that is identical to the superduty 7.3 manuals. If u put the OBS auto plug in that connector, it will bypass the clutch safety and u can now start ur truck with no clutch or start it in gear which saved me when my linkage broke and I had no clutch

    well my master/slave i think went bad so i was driving without a clutch. i installed a new assembly but now the pushrod thingy broke where the connector is. i drove home from work with no clutch pedal at all and i had to rig the switch to be able to start the truck. i might bypass the switch permanently. hopefully i will have a clutch again soon. at least my truck is running. i got a new alternator and then a new Fuel Injector Controller Module from a salvage yard. It is running great but I might have a bad injector or two. and a glowplug or two. or just a glowplug. not sure yet. 2003 F250 7.3L powerstroke!

    2:20 i tried to pop it back in but i couldn't do it. i couldn't even reach in there. how did you do that? anyway, i just removed the switch and put a piece of bic pen in it and drove home with no clutch pedal whatsoever. stupid switch. can't even start your truck without depressing the clutch pedal.

  • @dolinick
    @dolinick 2 месяца назад +1

    you don't really have to stop. just slow waaaay down and drop it into low gear. drive on the shoulder if you have to. when the light turns green then go and merge with the traffic. but i put a piece of a bic pen in my switch so i could start my truck this morning when the 'birdcage' plastic think broke. part of me doesn't even want a clutch pedal. i don't really need it anymoar. if you have to stop you can grab neutral and then turn off the engine. but try not to ever stop. stopping is for losers. just go. go very very slow if you have to. Amen.

    Seems like an odd RUclips content problem mine's been fine for 23 years. Replaced the clutch positioning plastic switch a few times but never had this issue.

    Does anyone know if you can leave the pin on the clutch pedal and drill a hole thru the clutch pedal pin and use a cotter pin to hold the new assembly in place?

    Not a bad fix but I just used a stack of e clips to keep it from falling off and that held up for years

    • @TheMightyGoat
      @TheMightyGoat 2 года назад

      The Ford plastic piece does not only hold it on there, it's also a bushing. If you just use clips to keep it on you won't have the same travel in the pedal because it slops a little without the bushing. The plastic thing is a piece of crap though, I've replaced it twice on mine. Been wanting to make a thin bushing out of aluminum or brass and then keeping it on with a clip or something would be fine. Less work than welding a whole new dingus on there.

    No clutch shifting is terrible for a ZF transmission. And thats called a hime, not a swivle... its mechanics, not fishing

    Duck Tape
    Seriously, drill a hole in it. Place a washer over it then push a cutter pin through it problem solved.
    Other idea, use a die and put threats on the knob. The washer and the nut.

    • @FixItNick
      @FixItNick  2 года назад +2

      It would work but will be to sloppy, the bushing swivel is a tight fit and there is no slop or clanking
