If you like what you're hearing, be sure to check out my channel, where you can find all of my A Song of Ice and Fire recorded chapters in order in playlists! And leave a comment! I don't care about any youtube algorithm reach nonsense but I love hearing from people who are listening!
I am in no sense a professional reader, voice actor, or what have you. I began this audiobook project some years ago when some friends of mine jokingly said they'd read A Song of Ice and Fire (my favorite fantasy series) if I personally recorded the whole series in audiobook form and sent it to them. Having now made my way almost through the first two books in the series, I decided to join the small community of people who post their own amateur audibook readings to youtube, and share my efforts.
I have no intention of profiting off of the work that is copyrighted to George RR Martin. This upload is a tribute to a series I deeply love, and I strongly encourage you to purchase these books. You won't regret it.
Also I should give full credit to my cat, Claudio, for the frequent background meows and purring sounds you hear throughout.

I refuse to believe book Jaime would run back to his sister. REFUSE
He does again and again, he's pretty much a complete beta simp at this pointn
@@GraeFox that’s the show not the books
@@jimboslice6367 he is a total simp in the books though, like in chapters previous to this one he just accepts her insults, finds out his woman is banging other men and basically does nothing
Oh, he’ll run back to her eventually, I’m certain. And when he does, he will wrap his hands around her pale white throat and choke the life from her.
@@calebduarte5255 I hope your right!

Sounds like something that the big floppa would say.

The more I hear, the more I am amazed by David’s rich and varied reading voices. I am serious, David, you should do professional voiceover and book reading and make some bank. I’m not sure if it will pay more than being historian, though. 🤓
Agreed. I’m a VO artist, but no actor, which is what novels need. David is outstanding. The best I’ve heard, and I LIVE on audiobooks!
True. He's far better than the audible guy who also pronounces the names so fucking weirdly like Pe-tyah for Petyr or Brai-eene for Brienne. He also uses the same witch like voice for Mirri Maz Durr (?), Asha, Meera and a few more. Of course it's impossible to do like 20 completely different voices but he just reused them. And oh my god I almost forgot he gave Melisandre a deeper voice than anyone else 💀
Best POV character in each book so far
AGOT:Ned
ACOK:Tyrion
ASOS:Jaime
AFFC:Jaime
ADWD:Jon
Just my opinion, I also think Dany can be very boring and cersei has some good ones but overall I just find her very bleak. I want a margery POV(maybe when the sept is blowing up? Like it did in the show)
No love for Tyrion
@@Argos-xb8ek he was the best character in Clash
@@ryanorielly5617 agreed. That was Tyrion at his best
Jon in ASOS and Tyrion in ADWD. Danys chapters are good. Definitely getting slower but when they pick up their some of the best in the books. Unfortunately I feel like alot of the action is done by people around her
Jer I found on my re-read of ASOIAF that Dany’s chapters felt a bit slow
Its interesting how Jaime doesn't pray with Lancel, but then goes to Ilyn payn and his own confession session with him. Also its interesting how 3 books ago, Jaime would have found a stark girl and had her hand chopped off to please Cersei, and 3 books later he is holding onto vows to protect the same stark girl
Jaime mocks the faith it's a big part of his character to mock things and people he disagrees with. And I guess just like confession, the feeling of admitting all your wrongdoing and most private thoughts and feelings to someone who you know can never tell another living soul must be liberating. Especially to Jaime, who has most likely only confided in his two siblings, and the relationship he's had with both of them has deteriorated completely.
@@Argos-xb8ek beautiful thought
Your very uninformed, it seems. This isn't true at all. Jamie Lannister doesn't want to "pray" with Lancel Lannister, his first cousin of his Father Tywins' own brother Kevon Lannister. He is obviously not intrested in being jested and close to the poison that had consumed Lancel since the "stab in the back" that Lancel, under the stress and thought of death and losing his "valiant" honor because under all his steel and armor and "chivalry" and "bravery" was nothing but a vile, ignorant, cowardly fool filled to the brim with wanting to have status and wealth, no matter the cost. He wanted titles and power so he even fell into the "trap" (not even a trap, anyone would of seen it for what it was) that Cersei had let him set up and walk himself into. Then he was wounded and crushed (metophorically) at the Battle of the Blackwater Bay. He was a turncloak. He thought he could BE Jamie. He thought he could control her, not relising until it was too late that she had been using him all the while because she knew he was trying everything to be what he wasn't... He used his "name" to bed his own Queen thinking he would be able to use her to gain titles. He done all her dirty work, and his own dirty work at the end of the day, including killing his own King Robert, in one way or another. He was a snake. A slimy slug that needed to be salted. Why in the would would Jamie ever would want to even pretend to pray with this lying spineless fool is beyond me. He tried to become what he knew he wasn't and when Cersei herself put him in his place when he tried to "order" her to do things, when he was never even close to the one to open his own mouth, he realised all this falsehoods were true. He was a pawn, nothing more nothing less. He thought he could sleep with Cersei to rise above her and the Lannister family all in one... so thats why he wouldn't pretend to be part of this foolishness, another fake, that Lancel was trying to cover himnself in. Atleast Payne was not wearing a veil like a darn woman 24/7 365! He might have been a pawn, but he knew it, and he also learned not to talking behind peoples backs... thats why he could speak to him without constraint. Also if you CAN read between the lines, Payne lost his tounge for using it, thinking he was clever and wouldn't lose it but he did... and had he learned from it? Possibly. Possibly not. Jamie lost his hand for using it without thinking it would ever be taken, and now he is trying to learn from it... Maybe Payne did learn, maybe not. Maybe Jamie will learn, maybe not... but he is truly one that is close to understanding what he is going through at that point in the story... He wasn't fooled by the bullshit Lancel was putting on, and he knew the lesser of two evils was his best choice. Not to mention, while Jamie was lying in his own urine, excrement, throw up and blood, Lancel thought he could "replace" him and bed his lover Cersei... he waited until the coast was clear and took advantage of the situation and it bit him in the ass in the end... DUHH! Atleast Payne learned and then still stayed loyal. Both pawns, and played. But one lost BIG TIME. And continues to try and cloak himself in false B.S. Atleast he knew his place, knew what he was and didn't try and be something he wasn't. Lancel is a King Slayer, Oath Breaker, Kin Fucker, Coward "Knight" and now he think he can slid into another skin like some sick snake and fool everyone including himself... DUHH!! Obviosly you'd be one to believe all this bullshit, you'd suck at The Game. Lol...
@@stephcollins728 Hello Steph, Thank you for your reply
I can see how my comment can be misleading and seems to be roasting Jaime Lannister, so apologies for the miscommunication.
I was merely trying to highlight the redemption arc that Jaime has gone through and how satisfying it is. I was not trying to display Jaime as a hypocrite, but merely that he felt he needed to confess to someone, and of course doesn't do it with Lancel (due to his general cynicsm of religion and of course his mistrust of Lancel) but with Ilyn Payne instead, in true unconventional style.
As to Lancel, yes he was insecure and wanted to be like Jaime, as he was looking for a sense of identity, and for sure him sleeping with Cersei was immoral, though I'm not sure he was doing it to necessarily rise above the Lannister family in social status.
Also, I get the impression that Lancel truly
feels ashamed of his mistakes in this chapter, rather than it being just another conscious scheme.
As to whether I would be terrible at the Game of Thrones, maybe, maybe not. I would like to think I would be good but won't enjoy it like Petyr Baelish, but this is hard to say.
Anyways, if there is anything you disagree with, feel free to reply. Take care and God bless
Hmmm. Good points. I don't think its that simple though, nor that deep. Not saying thats what your getting at, I just mean that GRRM always has some symbolic thing going on or he either has a * wink wink * nudge nudge * kind of blank fortelling of things. I think Jamie felt like he could talk to Payne because he couldn't talk back, he couldn't go behind his back and repeat it, and he also knew he literally wouldn't if he could because of the lessons he learned and the consequences he suffered for doing so in the past. He confesses things to him because he has his tounge cut out! Lol.. and I don't know if this changed Payne for the better or worse, but it certainly changed him. He cuts off heads for a living and has zero emotion nor speaks (mumbles?) or even makes gestures. Hes like a stone statue, all because of something he had done and he paid the price for it with his own body part that caused all the drama behind the situation when he made a jape and now hes earned the name "The Kings Justice". Kinda like how Jamie loses his hand that killed the Mad King and earned him the name "King Slayer" and caused him all kinds of drama in his life. When he loses it, maybe subconciously, or whatever, he confesses to Payne because of the similarities of both of their situations... and how Jamie lost his hand, but he can still tell people off and throw jabs with his words... Payne lost his tounge for throwing jabs with his words, now he kills people with his hand(s) all the time. Kinda like switching roles... I dunno. Then theres Lancel, becoming a knight, a jouster, a nobleman, a warrior, a incestious backstabber, a liar, a person who thought he was rising above the whole Lannister clan because although he had the name Lannister he was never a true one. King Robert was right to treat him like dirt. He murdered a king too, although he did it like a TRUE coward. Some say Jamie did it like a coward too, but he did it to save the city... or to save his family, who knows, really. They were both screwing the Queen when they were supposed to protect her and the King for The Realm... they are both screwups obviously. It just seems like Lansel always is wearing a different hat, a different look, a different identity. He screws Cersei and thinks he can walk all over Tyrion, he helps murder King Robert for Cersei, he knows all about the wildfire Cersei had been having the pyriomancers make for her without telling ANYONE about it in the face of the whole city being sacked... I personally think she was going to blow up everyone including everyone in the Castle if it came down to it... he then betrays her confidence. Then he trys to boss her around and gets knocked to the floor like a little biotch and then gets wounded in the fight then just slips away like a little snake. He knew his whole "chivalry" nobelman and social ladder climbing was over. So he ran away from his shame... he marrys someone then the same night doesn't even sit next to her in the feast and for some ODD reason says he isn't going to "bed her" (I bet he does, its all a damn act with him) and he was going to not consumate or acknowlege the marriage so therefore its null and void in the SAME NIGHT? Why would he do that in the first place? It makes no sense, he has no sense, he is a see through peice of plastic that was wiped off the board game long ago and is just trying to recreate himself into whatever he thinks will stick... Jamie also probably just hates him for screwing his sister and lover while he was off laying in his own shit and piss for months and getting his hand chopped off... who would want to "pray" with someone that just took holy vows, now are deserting them, and who is also just as bad if not MORE than Jamie himself?? Lancel can't hide, and Jamie sees right through his "rightious" bullshit. Epiphany my ass. Pious pompus pig. Hes still trying to look better than he truly is. Atleast Payne doesn't put on airs about what and who he is... Lol I know you weren't trying to take a poke at Jamie Lannister... hes probably one of my least favorite characters actually. Well, not the least, but definitly not very dementional nor that exciting... Sorry for the babbling on and on!! Lol God Bless ❤
Every Character is unique. Thats really awesome.
Jamie Lannister he can be very funny 😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂🤣😂🤦♂️🤷♂️
I think my favorite line from him so far is referring to Ser Bonifer Hasty as "Baelor Butthole" in his internal monologue.
I find him funnier than Tyrion.
Absolutely great!!!
Jaime finally got confirmation about Cersei adventures.
Cerse was trying to have a hot girl summer
I feel bad for jaime about cersei
Is that Claudio's purring we can hear at the end of the chapter?
Great reading as always! Thank you.
lol Gatehouse Ami really is as welcoming to incoming guest as the rumors say...
Love Jaime chapters.
Also I've never posted a commented first... an achievement for me lol
George wrote Feast for the true fans, for the noble and gently born readers who would gladly read an ASoIaF book where like 95 percent of the text is Jaime and Cersei chapters.
@@DavidReadsASoIaF not sure if I truly enjoy the cersei chapters, although they’re interesting regardless, but Jaime’s diplomacy arc is oh so magnificent.
Any thoughts on how he’ll talk his way out of Stoneheart’s grip, David?
This chapter is insane
David, I still need to do my work. Can't stop listening.
“Pray with me cousin”
“If I do, will the father give me a new hand?”
very nice work thank you
Where do you get the Pictures for the Videos? Because some of them for example this one here are really cool. I think it is Jaime before Kingslanding, the Giants Red Castle is the Red keep and the river ist the Black Water Rush. But this is only my Suggestion.
Thank you for your comments! I include a link to the artist in all my video descriptions, and end up finding a lot of images through A Wiki of Ice and Fire. I agree this painting is showing Kings Landing, but I have adored it since I saw it as the cover art for A Feast for Crows and wanted to use it for a Jaime chapter!
Jean thanks for that. The Art Work is amazing.
Why does Lancel have to get the eunich voice..ol trusty. Who speaks like this?
I am thinking that this is Jaime either departing Kingslanding after the quarrel with Ned stark or when riding with Kevan and Lancel out after Joffreys death I think, or it is Jaime departing for Darry to get the Riverlands under Lennister-Frey Control. Or it could be Casterly Rock though I do not know what River that would be then and I do not know what Castle the Second Castle in the Background would be. Anyway, Well choosen.
I think it's got to be the riverlands. The Ned stark one doesn't work because Jaimes sword is on his right side, so he's already lost his hand.
Plus the short hair and stubble. Great picture
This has to be King's Landing because you can clearly see the ruined Dragonpit on the left side.
Euron’s conversation with Victarion towards the end is eerily similar to Bran’s dreams after being pushed from the tower.
Wrong chapter
Thought the same thing
Wrong chapter, but that is interesting, though. Euron is definitely a warg/skinchanger imo, its just that we haven't seen it yet.
those sparows are such nuisance
i hope stanis came alredy and put them to the flame
Fire is so unpredictable... and wild

"Lancel and Ser Osmund and how many more? Was the part about Moon Boy just a jibe?"
Funny as that is, I can't help feeling sorry for the guy. That one fact was all it took for Cersei's whole facade to come crashing down for him. But I think it's a good thing... theirs was a toxic relationship, and the longer Jaime stayed in it the more his sister poisoned his mind. It was the one obstacle in the way of him being a decent person.
Favorite line in affc?
Hard to say, but off the top of my head I’d give it to the Lady Genna Lannister: “Men are such thundering great fools. Even the sort who only come along once in a thousand years.”
Broken Men speech by The Septon to Lady Brienne and company. Really summarized all the devistattikn brought on to the small folk who always seem to suffer most from these squabbles and feuds.
In the show i didn't like jaime but in the books i love him his arc could be one of the best maybe the best

This chapter confirms there are no STDs in Westeros. Yeesh
I disagree. There was one targaryen named aerion, the brother of maester aemon who died from clapping too many cheeks.

There's a million reasons to get away from Cersei besides who she's fucking, and better reasons to do the right thing besides how you will be remembered. But he's very new to this being good thing, he'll get the hang of it.
