If you like what you're hearing, be sure to check out my channel, where you can find all of my A Song of Ice and Fire recorded chapters in order in playlists! And leave a comment! I don't care about any youtube algorithm reach nonsense but I love hearing from people who are listening!
I am in no sense a professional reader, voice actor, or what have you. I began this audiobook project some years ago when some friends of mine jokingly said they'd read A Song of Ice and Fire (my favorite fantasy series) if I personally recorded the whole series in audiobook form and sent it to them. Having now made my way almost through the first two books in the series, I decided to join the small community of people who post their own amateur audibook readings to youtube, and share my efforts.
I have no intention of profiting off of the work that is copyrighted to George RR Martin. This upload is a tribute to a series I deeply love, and I strongly encourage you to purchase these books. You won't regret it.
Also I should give full credit to my cat, Claudio, for the frequent background meows and purring sounds you hear throughout.

I ALWAYS loved the line about Tyrion being Tywin's son, not Jaime.
Oh what Game of Thrones could have been.
I don't understand people who say that Feast for Crows and Dance With Dragons weren't good books. I loved them.
I don't know who said that but I will chase them trough seven hells.
It's crazy that anyone into asoiaf wouldn't like them, both awesome books. GRRM might've expanded it a bit far and is probably struggling to bring it all together for Winds, but it's worth it for the variety of narratives in affc and adwd
Oh, and these louts and brigands who dont favour Feast and Dance...BRING ME THEIR HEADS
How can people not like AFFC and ADWD?? Dance is my favourite book
Theon/Reeks chapters were the best thing about Dance.
It's because storm was way too good, so feast and dance were weaker by comparison.
But still great books on their on.
I love Jaime's arc in the books... hated that they kept him with Cersei in the show.
I get you man , Jaime's story is one of tragedy and " could of been" in one way that fits with his return to Cersei.
George Will probably do the same. Jaime is comparable to a heroin addict: you think he's beaten the disease but he'll always be addicted to Cercei
@@GTNL6 Jaime burned her letter when she needed him most
@@conorwalsh2429I've never read it like that. Quite the opposite. It's a story of choice& possibilities, of making &changing one's own path, of IT'S NEVER TOO LATE and IT'S UP TOO YOU/LOOK INSIDE, if I've ever seen one. The show pissed all over it. Show Jaime's return to Cercei could've made some sense only if he'd done it for their unborn baby. It would've given some narrative purpose to Cercei's pregnancy, as well. 🤬😭
@@notdeadjustyet8136 It's so open to interpretation. One of the things that haunts Jaime is that he broke his oath. Even though it was the right thing to do. (Killing the mad King) perhaps returning to Cersai is the inversion of that.
“That bITch” absolutely sent me lmao, gotta love Genna
😂 same here. Every time I listen
The conversation between Jaime and Daven is awesome... it feels like a conversation between family members after a long time, with all the backtalk and japes about uncles.
The more I read AFFC the more I wonder how amazing the latter seasons of GOT would have been if they followed the books
Wow the character of Jenna lannister is very likeable
She is very clever and pleasant
Hearing Genna speak at the end, it’s honestly quite unnerving to imagine what would become of everyone if Tywin and Tyrion were to have joined forces..
We need a short story of that by GRRM himself. Something like, "The Lions That Could Have Roared."
Then the series would be 2 books long at most
If only Tywin had been proud of his clever, wonky little cub, they'd have been unstoppable.
‘Tyrion is Tywins son, not you’
gave me goosebumps
Yeah that was a real kick in the nads to be honest, sad part about it it's true, one of the main reasons Lord Tywin hates that little annoying shit so much. Still stung to hear though :(
'I'm you writh small '
@@sergoldenhandthejust1495 I had the opposite reaction lol, I had real hope for Jaime for once when Genna rejected the notion of him being a chip off Tywin's block. But it made me despair for Tyrion.
@@Onigirli you meant *have* right? Don't lose faith yet, after Ser Jaime kills that monster he's gonna lead the new Brotherhood with Brienne the Blue as his right hand
@@sergoldenhandthejust1495 I stand corrected, it's not ogre till it's ogre for sure.
(It's just that **SPOILERS FOR STUFF AHEAD THIS CHAPTER** Jaime doing away with Cersei's letter was such a satisfying fucking moment that all I can worry is whether it's going to be all downhill from here for him.)
Jenna Lanister feels like a more pleasant version of Cercei. Just as clever and confident but not as vain or angry.
Maybe old soft weak embarassing Tytos was a better dad than his kids gave him credit for. Or maybe something about Genna made her strong enough to survive growing up Lannister psychologically intact.
@@DavidReadsASoIaF 00
More clever it seems to me. She is sharp.
@@DavidReadsASoIaF She was more so raised by her husband since he was so much older than her and she left the nest so young. She really pushed against him in the same way Tywin did against his father. Since her husband was so weak she mostly just became head of the household.
She is very much like Tyrion in that she had to be strong but unlike Tyrion she didn't suffer the abuse and humiliation that made him so introverted and angry.
Cersei is only clever and confident in her own delusional mind. She gets everything wrong. She craps on the people she should listen to and favors people she should never trust. She thinks her council of idiots will be loyal to her alone just because. She thinks she is beguiling, desired by all men, she can't accept that she is getting old, fat and ravaged by the cups. She is one messed up individual, right up there with the batshit sisters Tully. Genna is light years more intelligent and classy than Cersei could ever be.
I like this side of Jamie it’s like he starting to realize that their is more to life outside of cersi
The conversation between Jaime and Genna reminds me of the conversation I have with my aunt sometimes. Naturally, not the language or the salutations, but the warmth between them.
Same goes for me and my aunts!
David: Chapter 33 Jaime
Me: Yay!!
Why are the lannister chapters so good
You can thank Tywin for that. His terrible parenting created a bunch of Zukos and Azulas for us to enjoy.
It makes me smile knowing all this squabbling for who gets what castle is all for naught
Seven blessings to you Lord David 🌹
Well met my friend
Genna Lannister the most decent Lannister 👌
Would be a shame if winter comes for her
Could be worse, Tywin could have given Emmon Harrenhall.
What about Kevan Lannister
@@jaimelannister1797 Kevan was his brother's right hand. His brother who atrocitied and brutalized his way through the Westerlands and the Riverlands and Kings Landing at various points in their lives. I dunno if that makes him "evil," whatever that means, but a life spent doing Tywin's bidding is a life poorly spent in my view.
@@DavidReadsASoIaF true, I just love Kevan for absolutely destroying Cersei in Feast for Crows
@@jaimelannister1797 it’s a great scene, I also gotta give him credit for spitting “tell your sister that, next time you are in her bedchamber” at Jaime. Absolutely savage.
Every new character introduced in this chapter are wonderful and colourful. Both in G.R.R.M.'s writing and David's performance.
Joanna ripping through the smallest council always makes me laugh
Aw Genna my favorite lannister, never afraid to speak and plenty of wit 😂 her saying "that bitch" had me rolling.
Wow, Genna Lannister is amazing.
Daven Lannister is awesome
I just started re-reading AFfC a few weeks ago in my language, now discovered your channel and hop right on your advance.
Very nice reading!
Thank you! Glad to have you listening!
I wonder if Tywin ever once looked at who is children are instead of who he wanted them to be.
Tyrion though really is everything he could have wanted in a son apart from appearance. He's intelligent, witty, capable, brave and also capable of being ruthless if needed.
Jenna is a lot like Tyrion in personality. Having a lot of common sense and not afraid to voice it.
He wanted tyrion to be dead lol
That is literally the point of there story bro
The Lannisters are my favourite POV characters, and any chapter where two or more Lannisters interact is most like to leave me in tears of laughter. Daven is Jaime if Tyrion was his only sibling
Gemma is one of my favorites for sure. Such a cool auntie.
Genna*
Daven seems pretty cool
33:00
I'm kind of disappointed we didn't get to see that. I would have loved to see Cercei taking apart some weak noble.
That’s her uncle by marriage. She’d be a kinslayer, and that’s the last thing she needs.
And blustering besides, Emmon seems nice.
@@catherinecao4810 He meant verbally. Not literally
@@thegreatpage5912true, but considering how crazy Cersei is becoming, it would not take long for Emmon Frey to the meet the gods.
@catherinecao4810 depending on what Qyburn has in store for them, they might be lucky to meet the gods 😅
Great aunt Jena . Good read Thank you.
All other readers: Milli Vanilli
DavidReadsASoIaF: The Temptations
At 16:26 the narrator says "just as Sandor Clegane had done to poor Pia." But my copy of the book says Gregor Clegane. It's not that important since we already knew, and Jaime as well, that it was the Mountain who broke her teeth but it confused me a little.
Soldiers fooling around: 🥰
One of them is Raff the Sweetling: ☠
On this re-listen, Jaime is 100% cemented as my favourite POV. He’s who I’m looking forward for the most in Winds
I loved Daven on my first reading, don't like him as much this time.
Third time through: I'm back on Daven. I don't even know why, but I was laughing so hard at his jokes. They're not even that funny.
I want an audio clip of Ser Ilyn's clacking laughter. I imagine it sounds like the teeth chattering in David Romero's "Scary Story animation test" video.
Moon Boy being brought up in every jaime and Cersei chapter is my favorite thing about this book
I mean I wouldn't put it past Cersei. Her portcullis is always raised.
Your Jaime reads are my favorite
This is the best channel on RUclips by far!!
My second time listening to the story !!
Thank u David 💌🎈
cheers for doing this! just discovered these exist! you do great!
Lade Genna looks like smart and capable Lady. I like her voice, well done!
Really enjoyed this Jamie chapter
Thanks again a great read ,but I have question are you going to read dunk and egg ??i would love it if you do.I want to hear what kind of voice you will use for little egg
I'll probably do Dunk and Egg if, in the worst of all possible worlds, GRRM makes no move to complete or release Winds before I'm done with A Dance with Dragons. I really love the Dunk and Egg stories so I'd be very glad to record them, but the main series is my priority now.
@@DavidReadsASoIaF hopefully he will release it sooner rather than later 🙂
Not me over here stoned as fuck tearing up about Genna reminiscing about Tywin Lannister. Such great writing to be able to make readers feel some kind of empathy towards someone who would be otherwise undeserving.
Great job 👍👍
Your voice work is always outstanding but you've outdone yourself with Genna and Emmon
I LOVE aunt Jenna's voice .good choice
God, I love Genna Lannister's voice here.
5:23 Davin is so awesome. Lol
Am I the only one who thinks that daven lannister kind of sounds like Piccolo from the Dragon ball Z the abridged series, I just hear that every single time that daven lannister speaks.
Anyone else?
6:25 freckles or no, desmera has a claim to highgarden too so that’s not even a choice lol
16:25 Gregor*** was that error really in the book cause I def never noticed before and i literally lost count on my rereads since 2011, the moment Ned Stark lost his head in Baelor I picked up the books and literally haven't put em down since
Ser Daven is a great guy
That's shes my favorite character lol
Dear David: “Gibbet” is pronounced “jibbet.” You’re welcome.

46:33 part of me thinks this line was put in for obvious reasons, the other part of me thinks this was put in because actually tywins sister is the true fool because Tyrion is no Lannister (let alone Tywin Lannister) at all.
“Even the sort that come along once in a thousand years” hopefully that doesn’t mean Tyrion will have some terrible folly, but either way I feel it adds to the argument that book tyrion (is Targaryen and) will be unimaginably integral, folly or not.
I wonder why George didn't give Jaime's prosthetic have a detectable sword. That would've been useful and cool.
I used to love the joke about the “fat Lannister” Jamie makes to his cousin in The show but now I hate it lol
imagine what could’ve happened if tywin full embraced tyrion
She knows Tyrion is angry and has all the skill of Tywin
The terror
At 16:25 I thought it was Gregor that hit Pia?
It was. David just said Sandor accidentally.
I had perfect teeth when i was younger i took ot for granted they rotted out broke off and its bad you can't smile at people it makes you different now i have 6 and waiting for dentures and a partial im going to be 28 july 2023 i feel for pia
Wasnt it Gregor clegane that smashed peas teeth? Is that a book mistake?
That’s a book mistake or Jaime is remembering wrong
Was that a typo when he mentions that Sandor had beaten Pia? Was it not his brother the mountain who smashed her face?
Yes
@16:19 I'm sorry. Sandor did what now?
It was actually Gregor
My god i cringe so bad i will break a tooth when i hear how cersei armed the faith.
Genna does understand that Tywin likely didn't speak against her betrothal because he cared about her, right? He probably spoke against it because he already had an ego that could fill Michigan Stadium and it hurt his pride.
It was both. Anyone at that age would dread departing from a sibling. He also wanted the best for genna. So he was disappointed that genna was being married to walder's second son. Not ever his heir.
The worst voices ever
