I am in no sense a professional reader, voice actor, or what have you. I began this audiobook project some years ago when some friends of mine jokingly said they'd read A Song of Ice and Fire (my favorite fantasy series) if I personally recorded the whole series in audiobook form and sent it to them. Having now made my way almost through the first two books in the series, I decided to join the small community of people who post their own amateur audibook readings to youtube, and share my efforts.
I have no intention of profiting off of the work that is copyrighted to George RR Martin. This upload is a tribute to a series I deeply love, and I strongly encourage you to purchase these books. You won't regret it.
Also I should give full credit to my cat, Claudio, for the frequent background meows and purring sounds you hear throughout.

For being an insane religious death cult, it was mighty nice of them to offer her different, proper lives if she didn't want to join them. What a valuable coin she was given.
Right? They seem to be pretty laid back folks all things considered. Like they actually take their ideology deathly seriously (for want of a better term) and don't just do that thing most comparabvle characters do in genre fiction where they use a sort of watered down nihilistic suicidal attitude to justify murdering everybody. Like, as another commenter referenced, Seymour Guado in FFX (who I nonetheless love as a villain).
@@DavidReadsASoIaF I think that because the Kindly Man knows so much about Arya just from a few encounters that either Jaquen sent word of a clever noble girl that bore the old blood of wargs was coming, or the Kindly Man could tell by her very aura that this little girl was something special.
It is my belief that the Kindly Man offered her different lives more as a test than a true offer, especially considering the implications of the arrangements that would need to be made for a complete stranger in a different country. What could be gained from such work? Either way, the House of Black and White is full of mystery, and that mystery gives it power.
@@qjames0077 the similarities between the HOBAW and Bloodravens Cave are insane tbh, as when both bran and Arya go deeper in both their respective places, the light gets darker and all colour seems to fade until there is nothing but black and white.....

I do find it sweet that both Sansa and Arya try to choose Cat as a pseudonym when they are told to leave their old names behind.

I always thought it was so sweet and sad that when Arya and Sansa had to choose a new name at different points they wanted to choose their mothers name poor babies

i find it odd how genderless the faceless men appear to be (with members giving up their identity enterly including gender, except from when the play a role. 'i think you are a child, worse a *girl* child.') except they refer to the many faced god exclusivly masculine, i would have assumed they think their god genderless as well
I think the god is genderless but when referencing to the god it makes more sense to say he instead of she because they believe women are bringers of life.

don't put too much stock in the God's pronoun, since even the female assassins are called Faceless MEN
Maybe it’s like a translation issue from Braavosi
Perhaps the god can be referred to by any gender, he, she, they probably doesn’t matter if you are man woman and neither
Such a shame there’s only two Arya chapters in this book - one of my favourite POV’s!

I loved this chapter! Also, I wonder why Arya's chapters are even in this book considering that AFFC is supposedly only telling POV chapters in Westeros and Arya's is in Bravvos.
Because she's a main character and she came from westoros?
well Dany was the only POV character in Essos in the previous 3 books. so why not Arya for Bravvos?
It allows us to see Arya and Sam's stories nearly intersecting.
More like things happening near KL. Braavos is near KL, so is Pentos but, you know, Tyrion Lannister has to be in The Dance with Dragons. Also is a Feast for Crows, so the main theme is death and decay, which is what the House of Black and White is all about.

I don’t think Darkstar cut Myrcella. I think it was the second crossbow bolt that only grazed Aris Oakheart’s temple. Darkstar was giving up and laughing at Aris. Plus Myrcella started screaming right after that bolt missed Aris.

“The kindly man saw the horror on her face, it is pork child only pork” as if eating a pig that didnt want to die is better than eating the meat of someone who did. I understand arya wouldnt think like this being from the time and culture that she is. But I couldnt stop myself from noticing this little peace of cognitive dissonance
