I am in no sense a professional reader, voice actor, or what have you. I began this audiobook project some years ago when some friends of mine jokingly said they'd read A Song of Ice and Fire (my favorite fantasy series) if I personally recorded the whole series in audiobook form and sent it to them. Having now made my way almost through the first two books in the series, I decided to join the small community of people who post their own amateur audibook readings to youtube, and share my efforts.
I have no intention of profiting off of the work that is copyrighted to George RR Martin. This upload is a tribute to a series I deeply love, and I strongly encourage you to purchase these books. You won't regret it.
Also I should give full credit to my cat, Claudio, for the frequent background meows and purring sounds you hear throughout.

Lord tywin, as usual is correct. Become an adult and don't have to listen to your parents, now it's listening to your boss, landlord, and in some cases spouse LOL even if Off the Grid, growing crops is a slave to good or bad weather.

Damn! It is incredible how well written this chapter is upon a reread. The first time I read it, I completely missed what seemes obvious now. 'Winged Lions' how clever!

@@EnderWarden That late? I know that George has taken 10 years to write Winds so far, but I don't think he'll take another two. I'm thinking early 2022, February or March.
@@OT12343 With all the projects he has just given himself that is not winds it is likely to take even longer than what I had planned. Basically reduced speed for 5 years is how I'm looking at it.

In my case it's my own fault. There's an awesome RUclips video done from years ago, that goes over the whole Targaryen history and I used to always watch it at work. Now I'm trying to stay away from info to hopefully still feel some surprise LOL

I do love the way George includes a pretty wide range of queer characters and doesn't make a big deal of it or make their sexuality or gender identity their whole personality, like in so many queer characters. His trans and gender nonconforming characters especially are some of the best representation I can think of.

@@kingofdragons7 it doesn’t say outright that he’s a blackfyre (hence the nic name Faegon) but there are lots of hints GRRM has written into the story.

The golden company suporting “Faegon” (a company created by the blackfyres with the sole purpose of overthrowing the Targaryens, it’d be kind of like the KKK putting their full strength in supporting Black Lives Matter…just not gonna happen)
Other stuff too, we don’t know for sure that aegon is faegon, but we kinda know for sure. Even if grrrm never comes right out and writes it directly

Illyrio spoke up quickly. “Yollo, he is called.”
Yollo? Yollo sounds like something you might name a monkey. Worse, it was a Pentoshi name, and any fool could see that Tyrion was no Pentoshi. “In Pentos I am Yollo,” he said quickly, to make what amends he could, “but my mother named me Hugor Hill.
“Are you a little king or a little bastard?” asked Haldon.
Tyrion realized he would do well to be careful around Haldon Half-maester. “Every dwarf is a bastard in his father’s eyes.”

Not a great fan of the book, but definitely a fan of David! Masterful voice acting, one of the best I have ever heard. He's a true gem!
Interested to hear your opinion and review, what elements do you dislike in the book, OR prefer from the show? One thing I noticed so far, is the difference and how in the show Sam tarly is wise enough to know he should go to the citadel. But in the book version for some reason he cares about what Randall tarly would want🤔 anything that would make Randall mad, Sam would want to do willingly LOL

When i here griff i think griffith from berserk for some reason. griffith was the leader of the band of hawk and griff of the golden company there is probably a other similarities

all fromsoft dark souls games are heavily influenced by berserk, interesting that Martin chose to work with fromsoft on elden ring. berserk pre-dates asoiaf, so i can't help but wonder if he's read it. i immediately think of guts sword when he describes gregor clegane's massive sword.

@@BudravenOG Doubtful, he's a boomer, most chalk it up to just a 'cartoon.' Perhaps by the time he wrote this, but the lore he used for JonCon was before the '97 anime was translated in '03 and distributed in the US. By then ASoS was in paperback as that's when I started the ASoIaF book series. I came across a bootleg copy of Berserk '97 subbed in English in '01 with "Not for Sale or Rent" posted at every blackscreen intermission for commercials in early '01. Guessing it was made to show companies which might dub the voices in English. Manga translated in English was even harder to come across around that time. I think Griff is more likely a play on the word "Grift" as theories claim... and their house sigil of course.

I like how the artwork has JonCon flashing an all teeth smile. Doubt he’s smiled a single time since Rhaegar died, and probably didn’t smile much before watching his “Silver Prince” marry and have children
