Very nice playing from both of you! The sound of the neck pu of that Vela is awesome. Personally I think that the best way to spot the differences is to play the same thing two times, as you did with the Gibson and the Fender. I own the V4 and I agree with you. You can compensate for the less low end by fine tweaking the power amp emulation on the Wall of Sound plugin (6L6 push-pull works best imho)...

Its pretty much the same but with less low end which would probs be solved by running it into a power section of an amp
Nice job guys - It wouldn't matter if it were dialed in differently as long as I could get the same thump.The only reason I have not bought the VX is it doesnt have a Direct out/XLR. All my amp have one and I can now not live without.
Amazing comparison video! You can definitely tell though that the actual amp is more full and the pedal loses a bit of the fullness and clarity.
well the transistor poweramp didnt help the preamp

I do own the amp....in this comparison the amp has more body to the sound...it might be because they use different tubes in the pedal than in the amp
Agreed man, the amp has a fuller sound overall, but the pedal definitely had potential to sound really good. I think it just needs to be put through the power section of a tube amp to open up properly.
No, it's because they plugged the pedal direct instead of going through the Kraken's poweramp, so you're hearing the pedal direct.

It should be in the effect loop. I have it connected to a Engl Fireball and it has a massive low end.
Would like to see this with the new Power amp VX
I think once you run a overdrive pedal into the preamp it will give it that extra push to sound just the the amp. I watched Ola”s kraken preamp video an he made that thing Chug .

I feel like the lack of low end on the V4 wouldn't be a problem when used in its intended purpose, as a replacement for your current amps pre amp.

A lot is obviously missing from the low-end, but more importantly there's something missing in the low-mids, which IMO is basically makes the Kraken sound unique and so there's no point in getting the preamp if you're going for that sound.
I wonder what it would sound like if you put it through a power amp (or sim) and/or cab sim on top of it.
The V4 can bypass the preamp section of an amp. Why didn't they plug it into the Kraken itself for an actual useful comparison with the poweramp included? No idea.
It's sound crappy if it's connected in front. I find much better sounding than my Engl fireball. So this lack of low-end talk is incorrect. Go to Rabbea Massads own comparison for reference.
Will it chug with lead playing .most people demo these only doing power chords as it's really a solid state
in the pedal they are using cv4014 tubes....they are much smaller than 12ax7
Using the V4 through a Victory V40s Poweramp....planning to buy the real thing since the pedal version really sounds thinner than the actuall amp. Dont get me wrong. It has a really fat tone, but it cant compare to the real deal.
I haven't tried the real amp but I have alot of low-end with the preamp in the loop of my Engl fireball. And of course 4×12 cab😆
@@robertolsen9721 if you check out rabea's comparison the preamp has more low end than the actual amp, the problem here is that they are not using a power amp for the preamp. They should've run it through the kraken power section to make a fair comparison.
However, I like how you can tell from this video that the tone is pretty much the same and that it would probably sound almost identical using the same power section. It's an amazing preamp

So if more low end means better sound (like everyone seems to think here) then the v4 preamp sounds better 🤷♂
the kraken amp is definitely better but the preamp pedal is insane for the price

Actually sounds good but I wish you ran the preamp through the poweramp for the VX. The power amp makes a huge difference

Pedal power 3 plus is the only thing that will power it
You can use an Y-Cable Adapter to power that thing up, utilizing two 400 mAmpere outputs with 12 volts. Thats what i did.

This comparison makes no sense. Why didn't you use the pedal into the Kraken's poweramp instead of going direct? The pedal has the ability to bypass the preamp to make it even easier. So the V4 has less gain and low end when NOT using a power amp?... Shocker...
Even Rabea himself says the pedal has MORE bass and gain, lol
Hi dude, not everyone owns the amp, or any amp for that matter, so this gives you an idea of what sort of tones you can expect to get from owning just the pedal. This comparison might not make sense to you, but for someone like Pablo in the video with me who doesn't own the amp, the pedal is a way of getting close to the sounds it offers.

For someone looking to buy either one ... this is a great comparison . If you do a comparison of plugging the amp pedal into the amp as you suggest it will a useless comparison for someone planning on buying only the pedal and not knowing what it sounds by itself .

There is no reason to compare a pedal to an amp, after all of this years the pedals are just trying to sound like an amp. IMO there is nothing like a sound coming from a real heavy sounding amp. Pedals work amazingly well in Blue/rock music that is where they shine, otherwise they are a waste of money since the good ones are almost half the price of a decent amp these days.
It's literally an amp in a small box its all valve.
