Man, I’ve owned and gigged the Kraken for nearly 3 years now and it’s been everything I want an amp to be, but lately I’ve been drooling over cleaner more vintagy sounds as well as proper old school rock tones and I think The Copper might be my missing piece 🧐
Can't wait to check it out! Victory amps is killing it right now in the amp world! I own the Kraken, Sheriff 44 and the BD1 and can't wait to put the Copper and the Jack in my Victory collection.
I've received mine yesterday and played it for hours in the night.:-) It is absolutely awesome but I can't understand why most products these days are made pretty good but not perfect from the get-go! Having to use the one gain-knob for both channels is a hinderance really. You can't get a clean tone on the normal channel and a sufficient rock sound on the treble one. You either have a clean and an unuseable treble-boost one or a nice and fat treble-boost channel and a crunchy clean. On the other hand the tone-knob is not really neccesary. I could have done without it and much prefered a second gain-knob. Furthermore the master for the clean channel does nothing in between 6 and 10. It doesn't get any louder which would have been nice to have more possibilities of balancing the different volumes with the amp you use. For me it needs a second gain knob in order to function as an two-channel upgrade! Other than that it is awesome!!!
Brian May uses the normal channel on a Vox with the treble booster. Is it not the same kind of booster? I have the V4 Kraken and Sheriff preamps that i use at different times with my V30 amp, so I just wonder how the EL84's are important to the sound?
I have a question about this or indeed the other V4 preamps. I have a BD1 head I got last year, and it's great, but I would like to add some Copper tones to it. I notice the BD1 has a mix control, unlike your other amps or indeed those of other brands. Will the V4s still work as intended if I wind it all the way up? And if I tur the mix control to, say, half way, could I blend the V4 with the tone of the BD1?
Hi, Yes the Copper V4 will work perfectly fine with the fx mix control set to full, with 4 cable method it will work as intended bypassing the preamp of the BD1 when engaged. We haven't actually tried the BD1 with a v4 preamp and the mix control set to half, it may create some interesting results! Thanks Victory
Yes as long as you have cab sim, it will need a power amp for powering speakers but if you are just using it into FOH with cab sims, you should be fine, thanks Victory
They will all have the Copper sound if you were to use the V4 into the copper's FX loop but you would have three different channels of sort. Thanks Victory
Will the amp you're running into affect the final sound? By this I mean, would a clean Fender style 6v6 or 6L6 sound different than a more Marshall style EL34 amp?
defenitely yes. I had a lot of amp (I worked in music gear distribution) and for the same preamp, the power amp affect a lot the sound. And, further, the valves affect the sound. I mean : the same preamp and power amp, if you change the valve it affects the sound ( less for the power valves) but I had a power amp in two version (EL34 VS 6L6) built at the same time, same company, the EL34 are brighter, warmer at high volume, "singing valves" , the 6L6 are modern and much more agressive (not KT88, a little bit less)
@@PowerCorde I was actually asking if the final sound would be different if, for example you were using the v40 with 6l6’s as compared to el34’s. I understand the tonal differences between a 6l6 and el34 in a normal situation. I was just wondering if the tone would differ here when using a preamp that takes over the tone in the preamp stage. Thanks.
Heya, yes you can, using the pedal in the standalone mode will be best way of doing this, the plugging the V4 preamp into your cab sim or interface. Thanks Victory
Hi martin , love the video really professionally done . I have the RK 50 , could I essentially turn the RK into any off the other victory amps using these valve pedals through the effects loop . If that’s the case are the power amps in the victory range very similar , if not are they a neutral voiced part off the tone in the amp designs . Best Bruce
Hi Bruce, yes the idea is that using the effects loop you are able to bypass the preamp of your amp and use the preamp of the pedal in the loop. The power amp section colours the amp sound very little. Thanks Victory!
Is it possible to use both The Copper and The Sheriff as the preamp, at the same time? Not both engaged at the same time, but a way of having more preamp possibilities.
@@jamesrobinson529 Victory have just responded and it can be done! They sent me a pdf of the routing method, which is essentially using the Loop out of the first V4 into the loop in of the second V4 and so on, until you use the loop out of the last V4 into amp's effects send. If you go down this route, it's probably best to email Victory so then can send you the pdf, as it provides more detail then I can put here. I'm now tempted by a full V4 preamp board into my V40!
Hi guys, hope you're all doing well. My question is, will the copper v4 preamp work well with the sheriff 44 amp head?. will I get those clean sounds?..
@@VictoryAmps should work well, don't want to sound rude but do you not know. Can you not try it. @@paulcarroll7787 If you are looking for the Copper sound from your Sheriff then yes this will work, it will work exactly the same way as the rest of the V4 preamp range, we would recommend using the amp through mode. One thing's for sure . . You got the perfect fella to demo this. Such tasteful playing as always. Pete's the man!!
